Question about tipping Caddies??

I got an invite to an elite course down here and from what I was told was caddies walk your bags around.. I never in my life played a round of golf with a caddie. I was thinking 20 bucks, but then realized, its going to be atleast a 3 1/2 hour game, so now I am stuck at 60.00 or 100.00 bucks..

Or is 100.00 still to low?

I am guessing they don't really get paid from the Course, so they probably only get 2 rounds a day, so maybe now that I think about it, 150.00 should be a min. huh?

Find out if you pay in the pro shop. Then you just "tip" the caddies, and $20 is usually a good starting point (I think).

If you don't pay in the pro shop (i.e. pay the club, who then pays the caddies), ask what the going rate is. $80-$100 plus a tip is usually about right.

If someone is double-bagging or forecaddying, if the day is exceptionally hot or cold or windy, or rainy, or the golf course extra hilly or whatever... all of that can affect your tip.

Best advice: ask the people who have played there (I'm assuming they're the ones who "invited" you). Do what they do. Offer to cover his/their caddie fees if they're covering your greens fees.

P.S. I believe the standard caddie fee at Oakmont is $60-85. Plus tip.
