i am looking to buy some new irons and am looking for something longterm, i've heard that small faces are common but the wide sole and wide face irons is all i see, which should i get?

Smaller headed irons tend to be for the better player (or on more muscle-back like irons).

Larger heads tend to be aimed at the game improvement market. If you're in the "20s" you should probably be looking at the latter.

I would strongly suggest that you visit your nearest p.g.a. pro shop and meet with someone who has the time to set you up with exactly the clubs for your size,ability,etc. good luck my friend, you will never regret taking up this fantastic game.it will forever be instilled in your blood!
