hi all I current use rocketbladez tour with project x 6.0 shafts and I'm considering moving to the 2014 tour preferred mc irons that my mate is selling. They have kbs tour x shafts in. I suppose my question is is there a big enough difference to warrant the change and will the shafts in the mc be too stiff for me ? I started playing properly this year and have come down from a handicap of 13 to 9.1. My driver swing speed is now around 110mph. Any thoughts ?

the shafts are probably not too stiff, may feel a touch stiff, but the biggest difference will be in the heads. The MCs are much softer and the lofts are 1 degree weaker (I think). You'll hit them shorter and lower, but they'll feel great and be able to work the ball better. I hit the Rocketbladez tour 10+ yards longer, but had a tough time working it and keeping the flight low. My current irons are all TP Forged combo with Project X 6.0 - 3,4 CB / 5,6,7 MC / 8,9,W MB Lmk if you'd like more specifics. Ben

Thanks Ben One of the lads at my club has some c taper 130s in his clubs, he said I can have a hit with his so I'll see how they fly. I was told they would help my ball flight which is a quite high. Re the clubs I really fancy the TP s , I've seen a few sets now but really like the idea of a split set like you've got., how do they fit in for distances ? Jim

C Tapers are AMAZING!! I was too cheap to pay the up charge, as the set was 1400 already and have regretted it ever since. If you have a high ball flight the C Tapers in X should help. I also love the satin finish. The only difference btwn the CB and MB is CB has a 46 degree wedge and the MC and MB have 47. As long as you combine all the flavors of TP you did be fine. If you tried to play your Rocketbladez tour, you'd have a big gap. I plan on throwing some sensicore inserts into mine BC if you don't pure them, you do get some harsh feedback. Heel strikes are particularly jarring. Toe shots aren't as bad. Lmk if you need more feedback

    • I’d go with the Titleist if you liked the look of the blades but were suffering with distance. They should be a little more forgiving than a full blade and still retain some workability. Also remember to consider the shafts each have as this will be a big contributor to how they feel. Clemsonfan is right though… get fit or spend a bit of time on a launch monitor 🤙
    • Day 28: 2026.01.30 Managed to make time for a few swings out back today. Need a proper bit of range time this weekend.
    • Day 30, 1/30.  Six minutes this morning hitting a few more range balls, indoors, off a mat, into the net.  Did this before leaving the house.

    • Hi All my New Year’s resolution was to start playing golf again. I’ve caught the bug and am really enjoying hitting balls at a couple of my local ranges.looking forward to getting back out on courses in the spring. Based in the UK and 38 years old, I’ve been playing since I was a kid. Best handicap I’ve held is 2 in my mid 20s. Over the past 10 years I’ve played once or twice a year, sometimes with friends or for work. Could shoot 4-5 over, but just as easily shoot 15-20 over. I’ve moved to South Wales and am very lucky to be near some world class links courses, which gives me even more motivation to get playing again! I will start looking for a local coach in my area when I have more time to invest, but I recalled scouring this forum a few years ago and finding some good tips and advice so wanted to give it a try to see if there were any glaring issues I could fix in the meantime!  A few swings below… one from 1st week Jan and one from today. I have fixed my P1 takeaway to my liking and am now working on what I see as pretty severe early extension & hip thrust. Also terrible hip rotation. I’d like confirmation that this is indeed a problem and and suggestions on a few good drills. Thanks for reading 🙂 I've been Playing Golf for: 30+ years My current handicap index or average score is: 10ish over My typical ball flight is: mid The shot I hate or the "miss" I'm trying to reduce/eliminate is: push right with irons, hooks and push with driver!  Videos:
