I just wondering if anyone has experience with online universities and if so, could you guy's recommend one?

I took some courses with University of Phoenix online (Axium) and wasn't happy with them. Does anyone know a good one to go with?

Thanks-

What are you looking to study. I also have heard lots of bad things about Phoenix.

I go to DeVry, I think its great, credits transfer, kind of expensive, but I like the setup. There is a center by me so I can go in there if I need anything. The teachers have been very good except for one class on PCs where I knew more than him already but whatever.

Teachers have given out home email and home phone and will talk to you that way if need be. Everything is right in front of you, grades, syllabus, homework, tests etc.

The posting for attendence works as follows.

Two topics, you need min of 3 posts per topic for 6 posts a week, you need to start on Wednesday the latest. You can post anytime and there is no required time to be on.

There are live lectures, written lectures, and the live lectures are taped, this is all up to you if you want to read/attend.

Thanks for the info everyone.

I'm trying to obtain my Bachelor's in IT. Honestly, I liked Axia's set-up. I just had several bad experiences with some of the instructor's. Axia's set-up sounds similar to DeVry's. At Devry, is everything all inclusive or are there fees during the semestar that you need to pay for like books and other things? This might sound backwards, but I'm not really worried about the overall cost of attending...I just want a college where everything is taken care of up front. I'd like the convenience of not having to worry about paying for fees during the semester. Everado- How long have you been with Axia?

i would like this as well, i have my associates degree already and getting my bachelors would be great but since i went deaf it is just so difficult to take classes the old fashioned way, so online is very helpful

what i would really like is a course for A+ certification

I currently attend (and highly recommend) Colorado Technical University Online. http://ctuonline.edu/

The professors are brilliant and extremely willing to go the extra step to make sure you are succeeding. I can't say enough good things about it, check it out.

I obtained an MBA from Boston University - online.

Highly recommended. I previously tried U of P but was really disappointed in quality of participation of group members in team projects, which are a big part of online courses.

At BU, perhaps the tuition culled some of those types of students and I found the team aspect to be very challenging.

Get ready to write - - alot!

I would do it again. Hey, there's always the doctoral program!

    • It may not have been block practice, though, is one of the main points here. You may have been serving and from the same place, but you were likely trying to do slightly different things. It seems that would only be blocked practice if you were trying to hit the same exact ball hit to you to the same exact place in the far court. I'm not sure that's as random as if the ball that you're given to hit is at different places, too, but again…
    • I played tennis in college. I thought block practice was great for serves because you were starting the point and  you could easily adjust where you wanted to place the ball based off the same motion. I equate those to tee balls. I despised block practice for groundstrokes once you reached a certain level and your fundamentals were good. To me, hitting a 100 crosscourt backhands in a row was silly because I would never do that in a match. I needed to randomize it by hitting some deep, some angled, all with different speeds and spins. I share that same thought about iron play. Because we seldom hit the same approach shots hole after hole, I prefer to practice irons randomly.
