Hello fellow sandtrappers.

I have been following here for a while and love how helpful the community is.  I wanted to ask for some advice if I may.  I have been told by my coach that I need to downswing less with my arms and much more with my hips, so that the arms aren't really doing any work at all and that they just follow the hips.  I understrand the concept, but am having real difficulty executing it.  I practice on the range a few times a week and wondered if you guys have any advice of what I can think about to make this move, or if there are any drills you would recommend.  Apologies for not uploading a video.

Thanks in advance for your help.

Charlie.

    • Day 86: Played 18 this morning at my home course. Approach play was poor, short game was decent and kept score from getting out of hand.
    • From your description, you need to work on a consistent-ish club face at impact. Most practice swings have open faces and variable paths due to the conscious thought that goes into them, so you need to swing at a ball for us to help.
    • thinking of experimenting with shorter shaft in driver. i know shortening the length will throw off swing weight and i will play with lead tape to see what changes i can make as i progress but my main question was about the shaft and stiffness.  i normally play a stiff so would it be beneficial to get an extra stiff 5-wood shaft to compensate for club head weight?
