I am hoping somebody can help me determine what I like about my current driver to help describe it as I go for a fitting in the near future.  I currently have 2 drivers that I switch back and forth between.  The first is a Cleveland Launcher DST /w the "made for" diamana red and the other is the original Nike Covert /w the Kuro Kage silver.  Both shafts are stiff.  The Cleveland feels like it is loading up in my back swing which helps me keep my back swing in check.  The nike has always felt very 'boardy' and I tend to over swing as I don't get that feedback in my back swing.

A well struck driver will go around 270 and my average carry is probably in the 240-255 range.

Again, I don't know that I am looking for suggestions, but more help on why i like the Cleveland and what to look for in another driver.  I am asking because I heard a cracking sound this morning when I set the Cleveland down and noticed what appears to be a small crack near the base of the shaft.

In my bag:

some golf clubs

a few golf balls

a bag of tee's some already broken the rest soon to be

a snickers wrapper (if you have seen me play, you would know you are not going anywhere for a while)

and an empty bottle of water

The Cleveland should have a slightly shorter and heavier shaft than the Nike.  I don't think the stiffnesses would be much different but the head weight is probably more on the Cleveland which would help load the shaft.  45" length and 65 grams is generally going to provide more control than 45.75" and 55 grams.

Tee,

thank you for the fast response.  Can you confirm one thing?

The Nike is 45.5" long (if memory serves) and has a 60g shaft, the Cleveland is 47G and 45.75" long.  Is it because the shaft is lighter than the head that causes that load up feeling?
