I've been Playing Golf for: 7 Years
My current handicap index or average score is: 85
My typical ball flight is: Straight/Fade
The shot I hate or the "miss" I'm trying to reduce/eliminate is: Slice/Push

Hey

Hoping to get some insight into a way to improve my swing. My fade/push is killing me so. I'll go 5 or 6 holes level par and then slice or push my card out with doubles and triples. Not fun.

My takeaway looks flat. I also have no idea how to fix my downswing. It looks like i'm coming way too far from the inside? I can't get a feel for the right way to start this. I don't know what part of the body to trigger. I just swing at it. My feel vs real is totally off. I've read over and over about starting from the ground up, but can't seem to translate this into a decent hit. I'm sure you can see from the video how cramped it looks on the way down.

I've tried all sorts. Hitting with the left vs right. Pushing the right shoulder under the chin at impact. Dropping the arms etc I keep coming too far from the inside. I can't seem to attack it the way I see a lot of great strikers do.

Any help, tips or other observations are all welcome.

Regarding the push side of the swing which i've suffered from also was due to my attacking from the inside but losing the connection in my upper body, i haven't got the fancy software on my works laptop to show you but if you pause your video at 6 seconds in your club is roughly parallel to the ground on the downswing, but your right arm looks like it has moved off your chest and got stuck behind you a little, and your left arm has definitely come off and staying behind the rotation of your chest a little, this from my udnerstanding will cause the inside attack (nothing wrong with that) but will fail to get you closing the face to that path, so all things being equal the path is in to out and the face matches that path so theres your push,....the slice is likely a compensation of trying to not push it and swinging OTT (something i still do occasionally)

for me the feel is pinching my upper arms onto my chest and for the whole swing feeling like the triangle created at address never breaks, so the hands ar always opposite my sternum, in reality i dont do that, but it keeps my torso more connected and now when i do block a shot its 15 yards off target line rather than the 60 it was before

Thanks for that @carpediem4300

Funny you should mention the chest/arms like that. I was reading hogans book last night and came across this image

Which I think gets the same feeling you're talking about.

Question for you. I found when trying to keep this triangle, my backswing path felt a lot more upright. Something like this

Which I can understand. But what does your downswing path feel like?

It feels to me steeper going back, the part i struggled with was the downswing that i would still lose connection, the feeling of the hands infront on my chest all the way down the swing feels quite alien, my swing is in all sorts of a mess at the minute so as i fix one error I appear to create another

The thing to check would be more video, or a mirror to see if you are too upright like your diagram, could be a feel versus real issue? I found keeping the connection flattened my shoulders more, hopefully it would not make you slip into my issue of fix one create one
