I understand how this will be a great boon for the deaf, but the privacy implications are scary, all this assuming it works in the real world.

Right now the system has limitations - it can only operate on full sentences of recorded video. "We want to get it to work in real time," says Joon Son Chung. "As it keeps watching TV, it will learn." And he says getting the system to work live is a lesser challenge than improving its accuracy.

Kill slow play. Allow walking. Reduce ineffective golf instruction. Use environmentally friendly course maintenance.

Every one is carrying around a video camera and photo camera all the time. Depending on the app, a tape recorder. How much privacy do we have right now in public.

As long as there are warrant requirement for law enforcement I count this as wiretapping from a legal standpoint.

It's trickier for public use.

    • Day 85 11-6 Flow drill today. Goal was to feel a good rhythm. Hit foam ball after every 5th practice flow swing.
    • Day 65 (6 Nov 25) - weekly nine hole session with my friends playing up a set of tees.  As always a casual session, got in some great course management work as I was dealing with some straight pulls off the tee, so recovery shots were the drills of the day.
    • Day 402 - 2025-11-06 Practiced for only about 15 minutes today. Used the mirror and foam balls. Backswing almost entirely. Helped @DrizZzY for some of the time after and before, too.
    • I agree. One of the main problems with the old UK system was how slow it was to catch up to changes in ability. The WHS reacts far more quickly in both directions too (maybe different at 20+ handicap, but below 5 it for sure does).
    • I know, and so he's got to consider that if his handicap went up FOUR strokes, it was through play likely quite a bit worse than even that, because that's into the soft cap, and so… keeping his handicap down at only 1 or 1.5 higher would not represent how he had been playing over 15+ rounds. Again, it's still fifteen rounds. And some really bad scoring for 15 rounds. He has an "outdated" definition of "quick." It is the way it is because of reasons, and my suggestion is that he consider them. Not just react with "this isn't like how it used to be…".
