Nike Sumo 5900 and shaft options.. whats your take ??

Hi Guys,

I currently don't have a driver and I've been waiting for the sumo 5900. I previously had the regular sumo with the VS proto. I liked the shaft but the head would put too much spin on the ball and was costing me distance so I sold it over the Winter season here. Anyway this driver comes with a few shaft options.
Stock Diamana Yellow Board= I don't care for stock shafts
VS Proto= leaning toward this one
Proforce V2

My handicap is 5, driver swing speed 98-104, Tempo= smooth.

If you're looking for a good shaft, take a look at the ACCRA series. These shafts have low torque, good weight balance and create minimal spin.

Depending on where you purchase the club, you might be able to have this shaft installed for an additional $100 or more. Sold seperately, you won't pay less than $200.

The shafts that I mentioned are a free upgrade from NIKE. So these are the choices I'm going to work with. I'm sure the accra is a great shaft but 400 is the max I'm putting in to my driver. So between the above mentioned shafts does anyone know which would spin less ?

Theres no for sure on which shaft will spin less. I hit a Taylormade Superquad with both the Proto and the V2, and the Proto spun a little less for me. However, I haven't heard a single bad thing about either shaft, so you cant go wrong with either.

I guess that means you did a pretty awesome job with selection then doesn't it!?

I demoed the 5900 in the NV, stock, V2, and Proto. For me the Proto spun the least. (Nike had a launch monitor there) I was suprised because I loved the V2 shaft in my old Cobra 400.

With a 8.5 face and x-stiff Proto, my ball speed averaged 166mph with a standard deviation of about 3. I'd say my swing speed is about 113 (they didn't measure it but I have a radar at home)

This is how I'd rate them for the 5900:

1 Proto
2 NV
3 V2
4 Stock (just don't do it!)

I bought the 5900 in 8.5 in XStiff... I'll let you know more when it gets here.
