  2. I have a Chewbacca headcover, everyone loves it, but seriously who doesn't like chewbacca? Adds character. Getting a lab head cover, not gonna lie you might get made fun of for that from your buddies for a bit.
  3. I am a professional facilitator of information that nobody cares to know, other people in the industry call me a Math Teacher. I also am the golf coach, and girls basketball coach, would coach a spring sport but who does that during golf season . During the spring/summer I also Caddy at a local country club.
  4. Well said!! Could not agree more, in fact I have been trying to say the same thing all through out this post. People keep saying that this is the right way, no this is the right way. From what most of the greatest teachers have said golf is all about feel. They never say what is the best way to create feel they simply gives us drills, and ways that have worked for some of their students in the past. Don't forget the waggle, now there's a topic for a new thread.
  5. [QUOTE=normdamarine;559188]I really do not want to offend anyone for using the "stupid" word so I will take that back. Too late already offended..but not really. I think for someone as yourself being a +0.6 you have good control over the club. But the original statement was for the average golfer who is the guy that maybe gets out 2 to 4 times a month. To those guys developing a go to club is quite possibly one of the most important clubs to have in the bag. My club is an 8i, I know I can trust that club no matter what the circumstance. For the average golfer it might very well be that green side go to club that just always feels right. We should just think of it as what are some options you have and what works best for yourself, is clearly the best.
  6. I am currently working on trying not to hold the lag in my club as long, I previously was not holding my lag long enough now I am over holding it. I am hitting just ever so slightly behind the ball, which is causing me to loose 15 yards in my PW-4, hitting it 135yds-200, instead of my normal 150yds-210yds. I invested in the pure ball striker, have yet to get to try it, been about 28* outside in PA here the past couple of days. So hoping it does some good. On my driver having issues acquiring the right launch angle. Hitting the ball about 285 yds average, would like to have that at 300. So Ill be working on hitting up on the ball a bit more. And lastly Ill be working on getting into shape, need to loose multiple pounditos and firm up the core.
  7. Sure it does! On the down swing he is not flattening out the shaft of the club, I'm not sure how he will be forced to pick up the club sooner as you say? The whole point of the drill is to feel the shaft flattening out on the down swing. You can feel the weight of the club on the down swing and you should feel the club head drop. That is the feeling I am talking about. It also forces you to rotate you hips first to hit the ball and keeps your back to the target longer. Which has everything to do with his swing. You can take the club back on a perfect line but if you still hit down at the ball incorrectly then you will still cut into the ground. Have you ever even done the drill prior to your response that it will not even help him???
  8. If you are hitting the ball high and with a slice, it's hard to blame any of the equipment because a shaft that is too stiff would cause you to hit the ball out to the right but would not produce a higher launch angle. If the shaft is not stiff enough then you would be hitting dog hooks. Your number one issue when hitting the ball high and with a slice is the combination of flipping your wrists through impact while coming from an over aggressive inside to out swing path. So you are hitting up on the ball but you are leaving the club face wide open actually producing more loft. You need to make sure your hands are slightly ahead of the ball at impact. This will help the face close. I would mainly look at your swing and get a lesson from your local club pro to sort yourself out.
  9. As a high handicapper the best way to develop feel around the green is to chip with multiple different clubs. When out playing drop one or two balls and play with a less lofted club to acquire feel around the greens. There is really no wrong answer to a one club or multiple club choice. Its all about what club do you feel comfortable with in your hands when you are around the green. If you are struggling with your chipping you should definitely practice shots using an assortment or clubs to develop good feel. This is a really compacted question and we could talk about lie, slope, and course conditions. To me its all about what club can I put in my hand that makes me feel comfortable with the type of shot I want to play. If that day it is always the 54* then I'm one clubbing it. But if another day it constantly changes then so be it.
  10. All depends on the situation.... Outings, hell yeah...what makes an outing more fun than being an a-hole to your partners laughing when they mess up or call you out on a shot... Daily golf, almost never, that's when I am practicing, the sweet nectar messes with my feeling, and I get angry quicker when I make a bad swing. Weekend afternoon, 2nd round...Almost always, just out to have fun smacking the ball around so I don't need to focus. The affects of alcohol differ from person to person but I find it never really improves my game, I get lazy and loose focus, which I then basically give up and my round goes to poop. When I do have a few beers on the course it is usually always about having a good time spending with friends and not so much really to do with the golf...
  11. I bought a Beanie, a FJ mock, FJ long sleeve half zip up to play some winter golf...
  12. A very quick easy drill is to just hit balls with your right hand if right handed and vice versa. Then instead of trying to swing at the ball it forces you to swing through it. You really want to pay attention to the feeling that you are creating when you hit a shot with good contact. Then after you have done that for awhile, try to create that same feeling with two hands on the club. Also, a step swing at impact I have found in most people is caused when you shift you head forward. If you have someone to practice with do the drill Tiger has been doing with having the other person put the club up against your back ear through impact. If you don't have someone a drill is to put an x on the mirror that you can line up between your eyes when in your swing and do muscle memory training. Take the club back to the top pause then swing after the swing is complete look back at the mirror the x should be relatively close to where it started. Good luck with your swing improvements.
  13. What is your Height and what is the distance from your wrist to the floor? I ask those questions because depending on your height you may be playing a shaft that is too long. The lie angle of a G15 is 58* and the callaway is 56.5*, this also comes into play because if you are not playing a shaft length that allows you to properly set the club the way it was designed you will loose great lengths. A longer shaft does not mean you will hit the ball farther. I have my shafts shortened to play 44.75 when from standard being 6'1 and wrist to floor 36" so I should be getting my shaft lengthened but the control is much better for me with a shorthed shaft. I also have greater control over the club face and the club in general allowing me to close the face properly. So what I would suggest is attempting to Demo some clubs of various lengths to see what is right for you. The current situation does not seem the best set up. Your G15 also is 45.75" long presumming it is still stock. I play a Cleveland Launcher DST Tour with a Whiteboard shaft (44.75) that if came stock would be 45.125. So its all about getting fit properly, to fit your swing.
  14. Uttica Club Pilsner XXX, It is a rather large brewery but you can only get the stuff in NY not in PA yet. They are the brewers of Saranac.
  15. If its cheaper than buying a video camera + the software to slow down your swing frame by frame + a swing speed/ball speed monitor + a monitor that you can look at all the stats. I would say it is definitely worth it, the best teaching pros are now using this technology, so you should take advantage of it too. Plus it will yield you the quickest results because you can visually see what you are doing and connect it to the feel. I've had this type of lesson with a local pro and it really helped me with my compact zone, and now I am hitting the ball solid and on a ball flight I desire.
