  1. I do agree that $500 for a putter is a lot. However it would be a hand made, made for you and a one of a kind. You also could look at the $200 custom job to your $300 scotty is $500. At this point it's not about performance as it is about something unique and special to you.
  2. I think the point was that it is "so different" and it's not an insert. It's 1 piece milled. Aren't we all into what's new and different? If not I don't think we would spend so much time here. (Sorry about the all caps on my last post making it look like a bigger deal than I intended. Cap lock stuck and I was to lazy to go back.) I will say again the feel is great but I prefer the looks of the Bettinardis that are not Hogan or Mizuno.
  3. that's cool, I wonder if they are in stock or pre order. The Mizuno rep told me they would not ship to the stores until mid October.
  4. I tried one last night at a Mizuno demo night. It's got a milled face with two different patterns. THE REP SAID IT TOOK THE USGA DOUBLE THE TIME OF A NORMAL new club design to get it approved. Nice feel, good sound you are going to want one when they come out in mid October. The headcover is a disappointment, not the AME open in the back type. this one has velcrow on the throat, they don't work well
  5. Do you know if you could get them embroidered if you bought a plain one on ebay? Meaning do they fit on the machines or are they embroidered before they shape them?
  6. How could you tell it was a fake?
  7. put some lead tape on the sole of the putter and see if that helps.
  8. Tommy Armour made a set about 15 years ago called the EQL. All were 7 iron length. They didn't sell many
  9. Ebay is great but it is addictive. if you are skeptical look at the sellers rating and percentage. If they have 100% positive and multiple sales you will get your item. Also only buy from those that take pay pal. great deals out there if you are patient.
  10. you won't see the lead tape if you put two strips along the bottom of the putter. The only problem is you won't see what kind of Scotty it is. But you already know, don't you?
  11. [QUOTE=sonicblue;72633]Moving the ball back in your stance fixes the symptom, not the problem. If you're chunking 5 irons with the ball already in the middle, moving back is clearly the wrong fix. The highly likely candidates are: That may be, however golf is a lot like cancer. Fix on problem and it looks like all is well and it shows up some where else. Besides on the course all you can do is put a band aid on it and make the best of it.
  12. move the ball back in your stance and you will then be pinching it and taling a nice divot instead of hitting behind
  13. I've been thinking about getting the 755's and have seen them like new for under $500 on ebay
  14. His Nikes and his titleists before them were clones of his Mizunos. It takes a while duplicate a set of clubs and change the name for a guy that doesn't change clubs very often In years past when Mizuno paid players, David Duval and Nick Faldo and numerous others played them. Also if you notice, when pros are between contracts they almost always are playing mazuno irons. It just seems that maybe the forged irons tend to be a little pricey for the regular guy to experiment with. I got my MP33's used and had the shafts changed to fit perfectly for way less than new. you have got to love the look of the MP 32's and 67's
  15. if you must get a 60* then get the cg10. they are great overall and they are on sale. besides you need to change wedges every year if you play alot. the grooves do wear out. side note I hate the 60*, I've got 6 and hate them all
  16. It's collectBLE, USE IT OR PUT IT AWAY BUT DON'T GIVE IT TO PLAY IT AGAIN FOR $5
  17. the dead center is about 15 years old. I've got the sp-301 collecting dust in my office. Not a bad putter if you don't spent to much time trying to line up all of the lines.
  18. if you don't want them, post them for sale on here and I'll take them.
  19. Whoa trigger..... I'd play every round with a different set if I could. I stop at every golf store I see in hopes of finding a used something. [Mostly putters] And no I din't "need " the 85 that I have. Cause you can only use one at a time. Everyone has a hobby of some sort that they are free to spend on. Some it's golf. If you ask me, if you are not into equiptment you probably aren't that into golf. Is "wasting" money on gambling or wine or season tickets, or cars, computers, cameras, shot guns , club dues, any different that golf clubs? Hobbys or collecting is all in the eye of the beholder. I'm sure you spend a bunch of money on something that the rest of us would say. I'd never spend that much for that when I could get a widget that would do that for 3.99 at goodwill. Buy a game no, but having things that you can hit is important. So chill dude and we won't make fun of your obsession, whatever it is.
  20. Do you have a golf galaxy near you? they usually have a nice asortment of lightly used gear. If you get into golf you will have wasted your money on the all in one deals. Quite the international audiance on this post
  21. get the vokey 48 or if you find a deal on a 50 or 52 get it bent to 48. It will have less bounce but I like it that way.
  22. I'm 6'2" and used to use a 36. I am having fabulous results with a 33" bettinardi bb8 with 2 head long strips of lead tape along the bottom.
  23. I like to be able to wear my divot like a mohawk.. Just make sure you hit the ball first and there is less chance of breaking your wrist Beaver pelts for all of my friends
  24. They palyed the US Am at Cantigny in Winfield IL this week. It ended on Sat and I got a chance to get out for 9 last night with my 2 teenage boys. The rough was about 3-4 inches and the greens were like tile. For top level players it may be the way to go but for us regular players it's a different game. My question is. How and where do you practice to play under those conditions? Private clubs don't set up like that. The members wouldn't like it. It's not much fun to miss a 3 footer and go by 8 feet. Missing the fairway by a couple of feet and loosing a ball gets old as there is no gallery or spotters to show you where it went. I also came to the realization that handicaps are not all that accurate. Assume for a second that A touring pro that is a +4 and I am a 9. He "only" gives me 13. Come on. He would have to give me 2 per hole to be "fair" under these conditions. It's a different game at that level my friends.
  25. try play it again or do an ebay search for a Napa or 8802 or 8813 and you will come up with the blade of your dreams. almost every brand has or has had a model like this and you canusually find a deal
