hitting the ball sky high off the tee
mdiogo replied to mdiogo's topic in Instruction and Playing Tips
usually when i make good contact its square on the face, surprisingly enough. i have the original Fujikura Blur that came with the club. Stiff flex. is it possible that i dont need the stiff and should maybe switch to a reg flex? my avg swing speed is 96-101 usually i break my tees and can not find them. what does this tell you? -
hitting the ball sky high off the tee
mdiogo replied to mdiogo's topic in Instruction and Playing Tips
when i use my driver, my ball is lined up directly with my front foot, is that a problem? -
so heres the problem(maybe its not one?) Here in Massachusetts majority of the golf courses i play at are fairly windy. so with me skying the ball off the tee is not helping me at all. i have a R11 with a 10.5 loft. i have lowered it to 9.5 and i still hit the thing straight in the air. i have lowered the ball on the tee so its maybe like a half inch off the ground. and again the ball just goes right up. any ideas of what could be going on? am i coming down too steep? any help would be great guys! thanks MD

i second the hybrid..i take my five hybrid and make a swing like you would with the putter...be careful however because the ball jumps off the hybrids face and it is easy to lose control of the ball/...even on greenside rough this works well because it cuts through the grass nicely...ghalfarie says above me, it just takes some practice but you should be pleased with the results.

super glue your cut..my buddy does it before every round we play together and he says it doesnt bother him anynore

if i buy this driver will it hit the ball for me? haha
mdiogo replied to mdiogo's topic in Clubs, Grips, Shafts, Fitting
seriously though like i wonder if anyone has even bought this club..like is the technology good on it...if none of us have heard of it, it makes me think that it is complete horse s**t..like i believe it is real but whats the point...to tell your friends you have one...i mean i am mad when i get my R11 dirty i can imagine how i would feel to even get a ball scuff on this thing -

haha thats a good point...what is in his bag anyway? -
i agree that it is most likely shin splints..it occurs when your allignment is off in your legs. work on some upper and lower leg exercises and be sure to focus on the quads and ahmstrings as they can be causing the pain in your shins also

do you walk or ride during the round when you get the pain

Anyone have a club in your bag that you never use?
mdiogo replied to PaulMVR's topic in Clubs, Grips, Shafts, Fitting
my woods and my 6 iron -
Not sure if this article has been posted but i just figured i would show it to ya'll...its a pretty good read with alot of valid points...the one that hit home for me the most was when he said that us amateurs have to lower our expectations http://www.golfdigest.com/golf-instruction/2010-07/10-rules-watson?currentPage=1

i the my hybrid has definitely been my best choice but you can only do it within a certain yardage...you can not so it from a long distance. i also tend to catch my shots thin with my 52...i guess its just practice that will do the trick in my case

i played my first round of the season yesterday..which let me to realize that when i am 5-25 yrs from the green i find myself wondering what is the correct shot to make...tried making some punch shots which seemed to be the best bet for a while however the further i got the more difficult it got for me..being on the green side rough was the easiest out for me as the round went on. i took out my 4 hybrid and gave it a putting stroke and got it within 5 ft every time i played that shot. i was just wondering what kind if shots you take when you are around the putting surface. i know my dad takes this crazy flop shots but i can not justify doing that..let me know what you all think!

i have not been on the course with mine yet but i did just get home from my second range session this week with it. my first session was very...lets just say...depressing...swing was just off all day. it was the first time i used the R11 and it didnt take long before i but it right back in the bag due to frustration with how bad my swing was. i went today and my swing finally started coming around..took out the driver and was averaging 260-270 with it. my settings as of right now are 1) face set to closed 2) loft set to standard 3) counter weights set neutral. i am still trying to play around with the loft a bit to try and see what i get the most distance with. all in all the club is great. i find it pretty light. there is a distinct sound with it also, so you can tell when you hit it "right" i am looking to get out on the course within the end of the week. here in the boston area the weather is finally starting to look promising.

Anyone have some good ways to strengthen hands and wrists?
mdiogo replied to Cossackred's topic in Fitness and Exercise
for your wrists, get a thick elastic band. make all your fingers touch and put the band around them. extend and relax your fingers. you will feel the resistance in your wrists. if you need more resistance just add more elastics. -
i work at a ice rink in my city and there is padding on all stanchions where the corners are exposed. it is mandatory to do so. the padding is there to prevent a bad situation to be worse. its like a sports cup. it still hurts when you get hit in the balls with one but imagine the damage if you did not have one on.

Is Camilo using the r11? i havent noticed until this weekend at the WGC that it looks like he is using the r11...wasnt he a big COBRA fan?

to me it was not that dirty of a play. yes it was a interference penalty, but that is all it should have been. there was no intent to injure on this play. the pure momemtum of chara was pushing max along the boards..watch when players are in along the boards in that fashion the hits are often up around the chest area but it just does not look as bad because there is no turnbuckle in more situations. this was a freak accident. i agree with the NHL with not punishing Chara.

so i got in the mail today some coupons for golf merchandise over at dicks. went to go do some online shopping type in the coupon codes and they say i cant use the coupons cause of the items i purchased..look at the fine print and you cant use the coupons on nike, taylor made, titleist, FJ Ping cobra odessey and many more...so what the hell is the point of giving me a damn coupon! what model are they? i swing the A3 model..got the set for 300 a few summers ago...took a really long time to learn how to swing the hybrids. it was my first set of hybrids that i had tried. they have added about 5-10 yrs on my 3-5 wedges however. all in all for the price they are a good club Edit: nevermind they are the pros..just reread your post.

Interlocking grip a fundamental flaw
mdiogo replied to johnthejoiner's topic in Instruction and Playing Tips
i do not interlock my grip...i find it very uncomfortable, however most things you are not used to are uncomfortable.. i feel as if the club turns more in my hands during contact when i interlock my grip...then again this may be why i have a hard time breaking 80 -
i tend to tee the ball up fairly high..i suppose my swing path is the reason for that..i am yet to play a round with my new R11 so maybe that will change since it will be a new club head that i will have to get used to
