Uniflex shafts are definitely not the right shaft for you becuase of your swing speed. At your speeds the shaft is getting wipped through impact at different positions each swing leading to inconsistency. I use to have a 3 wood with the Uniflex shaft and I tried to learn to hit that club for two years. Finally I went and had an X100 shaft installed and tipped it a 1/2 inch and then I could swing as hard as I wanted and it went right down the middle. Well most of the time.

You hit a 64 degree LW 115 yds? Wow! How far do you hit your driver?
-
Well two things here to address as follows: 1) If you tee the ball up higher I would continue to use my normal ball position related to the club I am hitting as if it was not teed up. That way you will have the same impact position but it will hit higher on the face of the club due to the ball being teed higher. 2) I would suggest working on not hitting every iron in the bag (as you said) from the center of your stance. I hit my wedges through 8 iron in the center but once I get to the 7 iron my ball position starts to creep forward of center a little bit with each iron (6, 5 & 4 iron). This will help with better impact position because each club is longer. Just my 2 cents...

I do evertyhing around the green with my 60 LW. I can flop it, run it and pitch. Actually I use it for most shots from 100yds in.
-
That is exactly the way I look at it as well. If I want to hit my iron shot higher I might tee it up higher. Versus if I want to it it low or make sure I get the full distance out of the iron shot I will tee it low. But anytime you are allowed to improve your lie you should take advantage of it

I think a good program for golf is http://www.bodyforlife.com/ This philisophy works out the whole body and with proper nutrition can keep you in great shape. Good for transformations also (check out the website)

Okay! Now back to the subject of the thread. I have read through the entire thread and agree with the following advice that was given: 1) Purchase wedges that you think you can hit. There are many choices out there so check out each one. I would think as long as you purchase one you think you can hit you have a better chance of being successful hitting them 2) Read Dave Peltz book 3) Based on the yardgae you hit your PW I would recommend at least three wedges. I hit my PW on the average around 130-135 (48 degree MP-60) and I play Titleist Vokey wedges (see signature) to fill the gaps between my PW and my LW. Good luck with your decision.

SuaSponteMn , Wow! The looks awesome!!! I am thinking about sending mine in to have my initials added and a new grip etc.. Someone also asked about getting this done. Check it out at http://www.scottycameron.com/customization/default.asp

Really good suggestion. I was talking to a guy at Edwin Watts the other day and he told me that the Titleist Rep told him they call the NXT Tour the poor mans ProV1. I played these balls for quite some time and liked them. However, I feel I am ready to change and I am currently testing different balls which is another suggestion for you "Saks" . You need to find a ball that works for you in refernce to all around performance depending on your swing and level of play. I am currently in the stage of testing the HX Tour and HX Tour 56. I first played rounds with both versions of the ProV1's and now am trying the HX models. Good luck with whatever you decide.

All I have to say is if you figure this out without much effort you will be rich. Because in essence you will have figured out what low handicappers and pro's have accomplished over time. How to take your range game to the course. That is the secret to golf! I have the same problem and consistently work to see how I can duplicate the range on the course. I think some of it comes down to how you practice at the range. For instance most people just have a pile of balls laying there and they just keep scooping one after another over to them and hit them. I think there is a difference between warming up and practicing. Hitting a pile of balls one after another to me is warming up. But when I practice, I take one ball at a time and I have a goal in mind. Sometimes I play my course in my head. If I struggle getting off the tee then I might stop that for a while and work on Driver swings, etc... Good luck and please post if you figure it out soon!

No problem I did not take it negatively.

Well I had my elbow scoped on June 1st and everything went well. They removed a 1.5cm peice of something (medical jargon and did not fully understand and I see the Doctor on Monday) from my elbow. I have 5 orthoscopic holes in and around my left elbow (right handed). Weird thing is I get a call from PT on Monday and they tell me the Docotor called them from the OR and said to get me in ASAP and start moving my arm. I go today for my second session and I am starting to feel pretty good. WOW! I get the stitches out next Monday, go to PT on Tuesday and then from Thursday until the following Tuesday I am on a cruise ship to Cozumel. So I am thinking that when I get back probably that next weekend which will be 3 weeks after my surgery I can probably go hit some putts and maybe some chips? Looking good so far!

Yes you are correct. The article was looking at who had played the best in the last 5 U.S. Opens. Whoa! Good catch...I went back and looked at the data in the magazine and that is what they had down. I just copied it straight from the magazine. Are you an auditor by chance LMAO

I have seen some people questioning why I put who I did in the original pole. The attached is per Golf Magazine and this was titled "Who has played well at the Open in the past?"

3wood or driver off the tee for accuracy?
i-Guy replied to Grazer's topic in Instruction and Playing Tips
This is not an easy decision as I think it comes down to which club you are more confident with. I have seen people that hit their driver great and cannot keep their 3 wood in play and I have seen the complete opposite. Actually I will throw a little twist into the discussion because if I struggle with the Driver I apply the following rule for scoring (if a practice round I ignore this): 1) Hit the driver on the next two holes that require a driver and if I hit it bad 2) Put the driver away and for the next two holes hit my 3 wood and if I hit it bad 3) Hit my 20 degree Hybrid (see signature) the rest of the round regardless. You see right now in my game my hybrid is the club that I have the most confidence with off the tee. I rather hit my Driver or 3 wood if I am swinging well but if not I put them away and hit the hybrid. Again this would be a round I am trying to post a score. I admit that I need to spend more time on the range with my Driver and 3 wood but it has been a progression thing as I am working myself back into the game. 3 months ago the answer would have been my 4 iron. So slowly but surely I will gain the confidence I need to hit my driver more -
I put what I thought were the favorites in the Poll but lets get the discussion started on who everyone thinks will win the 107th U.S. Open at Oakmont...I am going to be pulling for Ernie Els. The "Big Easy" !!!

Thanks for the response...I sure hope it isn't two months before I can play again I will go insane However, I guess that will be the challenge of being patient so I can recover fully and not go out too soon and make it worse some how. Patience is a virtue!!!

I think it is a toss up between David Tom's wife and Diane Antonopoulos . She is Luke Donald's girlfriend but actually I think I heard somehting recently that they are getting married.

I had been fighting what I thought was tennis elbow in my left elbow since Xmas time. Not quite sure how I would have gotten tennis elbow playing golf but needless to say the symptoms were very similar to tennis elbow and I do other things besides play golf. Anyway I took the the whole month of January off and most of February. I started playing again slowly and everything seem to be going well. Then one night I am un-buttoning my shirt after work and my left elbow felt tight. As I straightened it out I heard two pops and instant pain. The next day it swelled up. I treated it with ice and ibuprofen and got to the doctor immediately. They took an x-ray and referred me to an Orthopedic doctor. I went to one who is suppose to be pretty good and he said my x-ray looked like I had a bone spur (kept asking me if I fell down, which I had not). Well he tried a few different things but said it sounded like a "loose body". Now he is going to scope my elbow on June 1st to see if anything is loose and as he puts it "clean things up". I am scheduled to get the stiches out on June 11th but what I am wondering is has anyone had this type of surgery and how long until I can hit a golf ball again????????

Scotty Cameron, whats the big deal?
i-Guy replied to PBCgolfer's topic in Clubs, Grips, Shafts, Fitting
All I can say is PGA TOUR . I know there are a lot of sucessful putters on the Tour but when ever I watch a tournament it seems like almost each group has at least one person putting with a Scotty. Tiger Woods does. Anyway I have tried quite a few putters over time (Ping B60, Odessey 2 ball, Cleveland blade putter etc.) and nothing seemed to be any different wth my putting. It is the Indian and not the arrow! So I decided to stop blaming my putting on the putter and decided to buy a putter that was well know as " iacas " said for its craftsmanship and reputation and make a commitment to becoming a really good putter. So I started looking for the best with price not being an option. See my signature for what I purchased. I like the style (which is personal) but I like the consistency in which the ball comes off the face even when I feel like I am not putting well. I think that is related to the incredible craftsmanship. Also I am a numbers guy (accounting geek ) and I keep my own stats. I am a 14 handicapper but I am averaging around 31-32 putts per round. It is the rest of my short game that is questionable right now or I would be single digit. And as someone said on an earlier post you hit 14 drives but even a single handicapper hits an average of 32 putts per round so price should not be an issue. I know that most look at putting as a personal thing but I think you should make sure you have the right tool for the job. If you do and it is not a Scotty then good for you. Just my 2 cents... -
I am really interested in buying a range finder because I think it can help with yardages and club selection. Have you all seen the new one in conjunction with Nikon http://www.callawayrangefinders.com/lr800.htm . However, I have a few questions as follows because I have never used one of these before: 1) Your on the driving range hitting balls. Can you laser in on your ball to see how far you hit a club? 2) You want to lay up on a Par 5 (hate doing that ). Can you pick out a spot in the fairway and get a yardage or do you have to have somehting verticle (tree, etc.) to aim at? 3) Are they better if the flag does have a reflector? I assume they are best used aiming at a flag for an approach shot or a Par 3 but I was just wondering about those other things. Thanks for any help

Seeing that you are a 10-12 handicap and above is your only choices I would recommend the Titleist (either one) or the Srixon I-506 (forged irons?). Why? becuase I think you will be able to wrok the ball better with these clubs. However, I think any of these are quality irons. I guess it will come down to which one when you put it in your hands feel like you can hit it. PS Nice avatar...anyone you know? Also I see you are from Florida. Where abouts? I live in Tampa.
