  1. I had birdie putts on 6, 11, and 13 today - three of the four holes I haven't birdied yet. They were all over 30', and I missed them all. 😞 Next time!
  2. 😭 Missed a 15' putt that would have been for eagle today.😭 ...12 - repeat birdie. I've got 4 holes left. I don't think I'll get hole 6 (420yd par 4, uphill) unless I get a lucky chip-in. I'll need a bit of luck on 13 too (220yd par 3, and I struggle to hit the green most times). Now that the wind is often from the north, I might get one though! Holes 11 (380yd par 4)and 15 (160yd par 3) should be doable though. It's just perplexing that I haven't got them yet. Probably 5-8 more rounds this calendar year.
  3. Got a lucky chip in on 14 - that's a new birdie! 😄👍 Four left. Of those, two are very gettable - 11 (390yd par 4) and 15 (160yd par-3). The other two... hole 6 is a 420yd par-4 that finishes uphill and hole 13 is a 210yd par 3 that is wide (L-to-R) but thin (front-to-back). I usually struggle to hit the green on that one.
  4. Finally got 18. But it feels a bit like a cheat. I was invited to play with a three-some and was playing one set of tees forward. On 18, that takes a 400yd hole and makes it about 360, so... much more doable. Still... 1-2-3 and done, so... 🙂
  5. In OK, schools are not legally allowed to require masks, even for those who are too young to get vaccinated. 😞 I'm glad to hear that the vaccine can make keys stick to your head. Maybe it will work on the five simple keys from a while back?
  6. Added #9 (par-3). Normally 180yds, but the tees were moved up today. Hit the green and got lucky on the putt.
  7. The guy I was paired with told me about the ever elusive CONDOR when we teed off on 18. Impressive. When we played, it was fairly damp, but with a bit drier fairway, and with someone who could hit a drive more than 250, I could easily see how it would only take one cart-path hop to end up all the way at the bottom of that ski-slope hill! (I've never even been close to turning the corner down the hill there.) I managed to hit my second out to a flatter part of the hill on the right, about 155 yards out, still a bit above the hole, knocked a 7-iron to 10 feet (very lucky!), and two-putted (😞 really wanted the eagle putt to drop!!). Still a great way to end the round though!
  8. Played Lake Chabot today (visiting in-laws). 83. Two birdies to add to the Away Course Composite: 16 and 18. 18 is a par-6. 😄 Lots of fun! ...hope I can make time for one more round before I leave - maybe at Tilden?...
  9. Played my first round away from my home course yesterday and snuck into two birdies on holes 4 (par-3) and 10 (par-4). 🙂 Started composite stats now.
  10. Finally birdied the 2nd hole! It's a 125yd par-3 that should have been my first birdie on the course. Somehow, it took 25 tries... A couple of the other 'easy' holes are also like that for me. Oh well. ...can't say anything good about the rest of my round though - doubled three in a row and it wasn't bad luck...
  11. Three birdie day! 🙂 Only the second time I've ever managed that. Chipped in on 8 - that's a new birdie for me. ...also had a snowman, but I'm focusing on the positive 👍.
  12. Birdied 4, a short par 4. Already done that before. A bit better than last time out though! 🙂
  13. No new birdies. No redo birdies. ...but two quads 😭 and seven lost balls. ...can't wait until the next time!
  14. another round, no birdies. A lot of pars though (for me). 81 for one of my better rounds of the year.
  15. 83. Best score in a while, but due to three good putts. Not due to particularly good play...
  16. Another birdie-free round in the books... Maybe next week!
  17. No birdies at all today. 😞
  18. I birdied 12 again today. That was it - nothing new. Odd day. The hail storm that blew through last week really damaged the course. Up to tennis-ball sized hail reported, and the greens were absolutely hammered - worse than after being aerated. Really impressed with how damaged the fairways were too. I hope the grass will recover soon!
  19. I struggled to hit the 58 a few years back. ...so I pulled the 54 and forced myself to play only the 58 (or PW). About 4 months later, I felt good enough about the 58, and I put the 54 back in the bag, and now I use both. 🙂
  20. Another round. No new birdies. Did manage another on 16 though...
  21. Birdied 7 and 12, and 7 is new. Completely lucky to chip in on both of them. Thinned the shot on 7, hit the flagstick, and it dropped in. 🙂 Just lucky to have it roll in on 12.
  22. Late to post, but... I managed a par on the 18th on Sunday. Not a birdie, but now I've birdied or parred every hole on the course! 🙂 👍
  23. Six birdie putts, no birdies. 😞 ...but it was a fun round nonetheless!

    Mattresses

We got an "Avocado Green" mattress about two years ago. We liked the lack of chemicals and waste, and it was supposed to be good for 25 years. If you like a firm mattress, it's probably good. My wife likes it, but I think it's terrible. It was folded and rolled when shipped, and there is still a slight but noticeable give where the fold was. But, mostly, I just find it less than comfortable. 23 years to go, unless some of you can put in some great reviews that convince my wife to try another mattress! 🙂 (Actually, I may be able to convince her to put it in a spare bedroom so we can try a different one. 👍)
  25. Yep. Back to normal as of a few months ago. The clubhouse requires a mask & there is tape on the floor to keep people distanced inside. The carts get sprayed down with gloop. Otherwise, it's golf as usual.
