  1. im heading out to madison, wi to visit a buddy in june. any recommendations. we'll probably play two days. ive already heard good things about the university course. any others. looking to play one 4-5 star course, and another more affordable course. thanks
  2. i always play better towards evening. its cooler, the wind is calm and there are no people on the course
  3. i play the first two holes with my shoes untied.
  4. any approach shot that i hit right on the numbers
  5. started out with a northwestern junior set in the late 80's. actually had a metal 2 wood in the set. then used my dad's persimmon ping woods, loved the three or four wood off the tee. i remember using ultra balls starting out, because thats what my teacher used. i started using titleist tour balatas when i joined the high school team, and then professionals after that. my three wood in high school was an old taylor made metal my grandpa gave me, it was one of the first metal woods that taylor made produced, and man was it tiny, just a tad bigger than my hybrid today.
  6. i vote for the vokey spin milled, even though its not on your list. i bought one from golf discount and was very impressed with them, good product and fast shipping.
  7. another vote for maui jims! the're pricey, but worth it. they are so light that you completely forget you have them on. i have the kapalua with rose lenses. find some cheap on ebay. if any thing is wrong with them just send them back to the company, all you will pay for is shipping. they have excellent customer service.
  8. i completely agree. i cant believe how far off nbc is. today i heard roger maltbie commenting on cabrera after the first errant tee shot all day. it was something to the effect that, "this is why he only has 3 european tour victories". i was thinking, "easy there buddy". found it funny when he went on to win. as for captain obvious (johnny miller), just like every other commentator, tiger's exciting play makes his job much easier, with more to talk about. i also hate bob costas. id prefer to have the cbs crew, but we have no choice.
  9. i agree. we had our share of cocky college players that would come home for the summer and play. granted they were good and one or two of them won the club tourney, but that doesnt excuse poor behavior.
  10. for a long time, i just used the sand wedge around the green. if i needed more loft i just opened up the face. now that i have a lob wedge (60 degree), i can say it is more consistent than opening up the face on my 56 degree, and i use it on 80 percent of my bunker shots too. some people say it gets them into trouble, trying to hit impossible shots. some say it is the most important club in their bag. id get used to your 56 degree first, and see how many flop shots you do around the greens and figure it out from there.
  11. ive had cleveland 588 gap and sand wedges for 12 years now. i just got a titleist spin milled 60.4 lob wedge and love it. the other two wedges will be titleist by the end of the summer. by the way, did anyone catch the pga tour special on cbs yesterday. they were talking about wedges and interviewed bob vokey and all the head clubmakers from calloway, ping, titleist, etc.
  12. found this on a clubmaker website: "Graphite shafts are relatively immune to the environment of a car trunk; however, all shaft connections at clubheads are prone to accelerated deterioration at elevated temperatures. Although the epoxy that binds clubheads does not breakdown below 250 degrees F., the connection may deteriorate after 3 to 5 years of extremely high auto temperatures. Have an experienced clubmaker check the condition of the clubhead connections and steel shaft corrosion every 2 years."
  13. im the guy that delivers all your clubs........fedex
