  1. in 10 years ive only seen 1 guy pace off distance on a green... and he missed by 20 feet. Everyone else just eyeballs it for distance. the footage isnt going to mean much when you factor in the undulations and slope of the green. its not like there will be a predetermined level of power for each putt based solely on distance.
  2. I got close to joining one then did the math... would end up being about $70 / round if i played 2.5 times a week. Couldnt stomach that even though its just 5 minutes from my office. maybe when i make more money :)
  3. same frustrations... damn "jobs" keep people from being in town or free when I am. apparently they cant all make their schedules like i can!
  4. i dont care how bad you are... just play fast. hack 15 shots on a par 3, i dont care, just keep up the pace.
  5. the only way you will get a feel for it is to look up the yardage via fairway/sprinkler heads, or GPS/laser, and visually assess it. then walk up to some shots, estimate, and double check with real yardages. i dont bother guessing more than 25 yards off a marker though, so from 75 yards to 225 i can guess well enough based on fairway stickks... but even then the GPS app on my phone shows im off by a club length sometimes
  6. Break a club in anger? wasnt there a thread mentioned how stupid that is? Shook hands with Jack and told him where the bathroom was when i was working at a restaurant :)

    Driving Distance

dont forget the courses with well off yardages... or ones that read to the BACK of the green from Tees. Played a course today, no real doglegs etc.. everything was off 20-35 yards when checked with GPS.. Had one drive that went a legitimate 306 via GPS tracking... if i went by course yardage id be bragging about a 340 bomb.
  8. thats what sucks about the shanks... you can have a great swing thats off by 1/2" and it shoots right.
  9. --practiced hard sand and compacted sand shots to that of the fairway? what does that even mean. did you mean that you practiced as if they were on fairway?
  10. chances are you are flipping/casting. focus on taking a full or even exagerrated follow thru to keep you swinging thru the ball and not at the ball. suffered the same thing myself for 2 months this year.
  11. when i dont force a full follow thru i lose a ton of yardage. today and yesterday i forced a full follow thru and hit 5-7 drives over 300, drove thru a green 310 out also. when i dont force a full follow thru i get maybe 265, and a whole lot more duck hooks and casting problems because i release to soon if im not thinking about finishing.
  12. i tried the DT So/Lo... i prefer the D2 Feel over that tho. for $15/15 balls they are a steal. for the under $20 category its the top of my list.. and I dont shred them up as fast as provs and one blaclks
  13. ive been pulling too.. but my divots go right at the target. ball starts a little left then finished way left. so i think i have the club face way closed at impact somehow. any drills to keep the face square at impact?
  14. D2 Feels are great, i lvoe them. putt well, long, straight, and check up well. i have a few of the Distance ones now... they go long, but hard as a rock and dont check and bite at ALL. hit a 7i into a green from a tee and it hit and rolled off the green... uphill! rolled a good 15 yards. the Feels woudl have stopped in 2-3 yards. Ive never hit a maxfli i like tho.
  15. hit 7 greens today, shot 88.
  16. thanks i'll look into that
  17. yes in those situations common courtesy is nice. if we really want to get the POP issue resolved.. the COURSES have to push the issue and membership needs to force the issue to the course managers. telling a player that hes going to slow isnt going to do much because chances are he thinking " F U , you dont own the place". get the people that DO own the course, and they will listen. this is probably more easily done at a private club instead of a public course where they depend on all walks of life to pay up.
  18. is a 4 some supposed to let every single go thru? if im out there alone and no one in front the whole day i can finish 18 in less than 2 hours easy.. sometimes 1.5 hours if im not losing any... but if there are 4 singles in a row and a foursome.. are they supposed to sit at the tee and let 4 singles go thru one by one for the next 30 minutes? the rangers should pair you up into 4somes then
  19. its about where the club is heading at contact. look at divots, the can be pretty straight. if AT CONTACT the club is moving dead straight, then you have a straight path. of course it will move in a circle, but relative to the target line at contact it can certainly be straight couldnt it. if the club goes in to in.. then at some point it has to reach a point where the tangent is parallel to the target line. contact at this precise point with a straight face and the ball will go dead straight. chance of that happening? pretty freaking slim. most straight shots we see are pull or pushes with bad alignment id imagine. wasnt it hogan that dead straight shot was a fluke?
  20. overall score doesnt matter to me as long as they can hit a drive about 250-260 and straight then im ok with them on the blues. if they do that and shank up and hit 105 shots a round, thats fine as long as they arent spending time covering the 25 yards extra. if they tee off from the reds and still need 5 shots around the green, they arent saving much time at all.
  21. i think everyone here is being selfish. if u take 5 hours you are being selfish, if you press forward to get done in 3 you are being selfish. look at the score card, check the pace of play. on mine its 4:12. if i get done in 4:12 or less, ive got NOTHING to complain about in regards to pace. ok yes, i will complain, but i know if im getting done in the allotted time then the course held up its end of the deal. if you know you dont have 4:12 to play a round (or whatever pace of play is), and you go out to try to squeeze in 18, then you cant complain that you didnt get done in time because you knew ahead of time that you were pushing your luck. now of course its nice to let a fast group thru if there is room in front.. but at my course, unless the group ahead is behind pace, the rangers cant force them to let us thru.
  22. does anyone else feel the titleist 975F in an S flex graphite maybe plays a little soft? i feel like its a little whippy sometimes. if you've changed out the shaft in this club what did u go with?
  23. ive had my callaways for a little over a year and maybe 40-50 rounds now... cleats still seem fine to me... never bothered tightening them either. of course now that ive said that i'll go check to make sure i dont lose one tomorrow.
  24. id guess the draw bias has a closed (or more closed) face?
