  1. Here is what I mean. Obviously goals etc determine where you want to be, but the "average" golfer where should he be, where do you think he should be. Well let me explain my situation and you let me know what you think. When I started playing when I was 16 I was terrible as most people are. I really didn't improve until I got in my late 20's now I am decent well to my standards. Anyway I went from not being able to get the ball up on any consistent basis to getting it up most of the time. Now I slice and stuff, but should I accept that? Should that ruin the game for me? Also I was wondering when should you be satisfied with your game? Is shooting a 90 something to be ashamed of or proud of? I enjoy the game but I was wondering what you all think? I have a swing now that I trust and that I can hit all my clubs with. Is that enough? To be honest I am afraid to change it, because it took me along time to get there. Should I just stay there and be happy with it, since I made a dramatic improvement. Sorry just was bored and wanted to chat!
  2. Check out the new Nicklaus hybrid irons. They are built extremely solid and have wonderful control. The distance is the only ? for me. But the 4i hybrid is solid and sounds great and feels great. Check it out.
  3. He bothers me for some reason. He is a huge publicity stunt. Why can't he do it like Alice Cooper and the other stars. This guy is an arse clown.
  4. I ground all my clubs except my driver off the tee.
  5. I also do a slight forward press with my putter. I feel like I have to since the putter does have some loft to it.
  6. I hope that gasbag Berman isn't out there. I can't stand him
  7. I thought I heard somewhere that he would be invited to play a handful of PGA evens just being in the top 150. I could of mis heard him, but I just wanted to bounce that idea out there and see what you have heard recently.
  8. I was thinking about giving the huge KJ Choi grip a shot today. THe golf stores around these parts are having huge discounts and I have decide to regrip my putter with a large grip. Heck I might even regrip my wedges while I am at.
  9. Less is more for me.* I like to get a small bucket 30-40 balls and take my time with those.* It seems like mentally if I started with a small bucket I am naturally taking my time.* If I get a large etc I then feel the need to crank through them.* So I just keep it cheap and to the point.* I hit every clubs maybe 2-3 balls sometimes skipping a club and hitting additional on another club.* I do like what Sub said about checking the face of the woods and irons.* To see where you are hitting them.
  10. Sounds like you have a closed/shut club face at the top of your swing.
  11. I thought Gainey was aweful hunched over, but other than that he looked alright to me. I like the way he hit his 4 iron. He cranked it!
  12. All thanks for the replies. Jon I admit I have friend some who played at a high level in high school etc and some who are hackers, and I usually am inbetween them all with my distance, but I am in the FW usually. Now if I play 6,800+ I might be introuble. Infact I might be 2-3I all day into the greens on par 4's. But I take a humble approach to golf, I am not good. I'm not like my friend who nails it 300 yard/with 5i's into greens 200+ yards out. That's not me infact I am a hybrid 3i out from 200+ lol. Anyway, I accepted who I am along time ago. Not a pro, just a guy who likes to get the ball up in the air everytime and score decently. Well at least to my standards. Cheers!
  13. I do it with my putter because my putter is lofted so I have to have my hands forward in order to strike the ball solid. I never do on any irons.
  14. Well said. I can get outside on on some of my longer irons and woods. I play a Top Flight Long ball, which rolls for ever giving me distance, but takes some of the side spin out of it. Just experiment. Top Flight is my ball now lol
  15. When I swing my Driver I like to have a casting motion through my drive. Not chopping wood or going majorly over the top I just mean a little outside/in strike. I play it on my 3,4,5 irons and it will cut 3-5 yards right. I am a righty. Anyway what do you all think. When I keep my hands in on the Drive it seems like I will pull shots left more hitting low darts left. If I play the slice/cut drive it fades out there and it is way more predictable. I usually poke them out there 240-250. When I catch it good maybe 260 tops unless some weird extreme condition, Hill/Wind etc.
  16. I am a 25 HDCP. What do you recommend for higher handicappers? Stick with one type of chip and get really good at it or try different chips and styles. I have two types of chips in my skill set at the moment. Well actually 3 but I rely heavily on one. I like to put my grip way in front and play the ball back in my stance. Then make a normal swing at it with the really cocked club and fire it up there. Hey it works and works well I get compliments on that shot, but it does seem a bit weird and unorthodoxed. I can also play a chip where I wrap the club around the body more than going back and up like I do on my normal swing. Then of course there is just my normal swing with the lob and sand wedge, which is my least accurate. Anyway thoughts?
  17. I don't think he has the distance ever to win a US Open, but a Master is possible imo.
  18. Does he have a chance to make the top 125 if he wins this tourney? Doesn't the top 137 still get to play some PGA tournements? Just wondering. Thanks
  19. Sergio putts like Helen Keller and has a very average short game. Woods also has the strongest mental game on tour.
  20. He looked solid. Great shot on 17 to stick that shot. That was a big time shot and on 18 the 2nd time around. WOW
  21. This has been my little problem lately. I am fat so do you think a gut can hurt you from following through or is this a lame excuse? Im 5 ft 10 250 so im fat, but not huge. I was just wondering what you lower hdcp feel? Gut prevent from following through good and leaving everything out left or an excuse? It seems like I have a tendency of leaving everything out left sometimes and when I do it really bad I hozzle rocket the ball! Just wondering Im working out tomorrow, golf is to important to let a big fat azz gut get in the way.
  22. I think thats the reality of it. Some people benefit more from the range than others. I agree that grass practice greens can help a lot, mats on the other hand don't help as far as I am concerned. They help you grove a bad swing. Then on the course you get owned.
  23. I'm glad to see Boo doing well. Hope he keeps it up.
  24. It seems to me the best way to get better at golf is to play golf and play a lot of it. Going to the range doesn't seem to stick with me. It's a different game when you are out walking around. To me playing 2-3 rounds a week is much better than going to the range for subsitution. I know everybody is different so opinions will vary, whats your thoughts on this?
