  1. Last week I hit 13 of 18 greens. Yeah, it was an exceptional ball striking day. I would say I hit on average 9-10 GIR. I shot a 75 that day. According to the formula, I should have shot 69. There were a couple of shots I left out there, but i think my best could have been 71. I 3 putted one time an got up and down about 65%. I think this formula is way off, only because I have hit 5 GIR before and shot 76. I dont think it factors in a person's short game ability at all.
  2. I would go with the Titleist D2 or the Taylor Made Burner TP. Both are solid clubs
  3. I have the Adams Pro series hybrid 3 and 4. They are great. I like the no offset and the Aldila Proto shaft.
  4. What is the deal with these Titles under everyones member/profile name? Some say hacker, golfaholic, mini-golfer, league meber, etc. Can you change that or is it a ranking of some sort??
  5. Well, Im sure the V2 works differently for everyone. It works great for me and does not balloon the ball at all with this driver. It did, however, balloon the ball sometimes with my old Cleveland launcher comp. I would try to get on a launch monitor or visit a demo day and try it. You could always try your local golf stores and see if they have a demo.
  6. I reshafted my Burner TP with a ProForce V2 stiff shaft and it is great. I had the same shaft in my previous driver. I have a swing speed of 106, so I think that shaft would be good for you.. I know at my local Edwin Watts they had the Taylor Made Fit System which will allow you to interchange different shafts with the TP head.
  7. I have the Burner TP model with a UST V2 stiff shaft in it and it is a great club. The big difference on the launch monitor was the ball speed on mis-hits was much greater than mis-hits with my Cleveland. That is the main reason I got it. I think the Burner, TP or not, is a solid club for all handicappers. I am a 2.8 and it works great for me.
  8. Get it reshafted! If you trade in you existing driver, you will not get near the value you think you should. Also, you can upgrade to a much better shaft for $60-$80 including labor. Personally, I think you should have been sold a stiff shaft to begin with.
  9. 1. Is the stock shaft too long or people are just complaining about it when it is still manageable? Its not too long, although I got mine at the regular length. 2. Has anyone tried custom ordering the stock shaft at a shorter length and how did it perform? I have the UST V2 shaft at the standard length and it performs great. 3. If you don't like the stock shaft, which other shafts have you tried on the Burner head? Did it go well with the head? UST V2. Yes 4. How do you like the sound of the club head? Sounds great. Just like other Taylor Made clubs. Crisp 5. Is there much difference between the 50g and the 65g stock shaft? 6. Burner has a heavy swing weight. How did this effect your drive? 7. Does the STIFF flex feel more like REGULAR flex compared to other shafts? I heard a lot of stiff flex users ordered x-flex 'cause it was whippy compared to other shafts. 8. If you do own a Burner TP driver, would you also buy a Burner fairway?
  10. I have had a lot of eagles on par 5's but only 2 on par 4's. Those are my favorite. I hit a gap wedge from about 120 yds. and it hit behind the hole and spun back about 15 feet into the hole. (That got me even with all my bets on the front nine) The second was recently when some friends of mine were playing a shorter course in Ms. I drove it to about 15 yards short of the green and hit a nice chip that took the slope and died in the hole.
  11. Short game, Short game, Short game! I once had a teacher tell me that "You can never have a really bad round if you can get up and down from 100 yards everytime." Now I know that hardly anybody's short game is that good, but you see the point. Putting and chipping are where you make up the most strokes. I shot 71-77. Funny thing is, I won a lot more money when I shot 77 than when I shot 71.
  12. Well, to start, the Burner has a closed face and the TP has an open face. The TP will launch a little lower, but might also give you less spin. I went with the TP version because I already hit a natural draw and didnt need any help in that department. I can work the ball more with the TP as well. It seemed that with the regular Burner, the ball was only going one direction- Left.
  13. How do you guys get the actual Titleist or Taylor Made insignia on your signatures?? I have noticed that most everyone has this on their signature and I can not figure it out for the life of me. Can anyone help??
  14. Carry 285
  15. shortgame85: I have played both Memphis CC and Spring Creek. I would have to say, I like Spring Creek more than MCC. Its longer and more challenging. Dont get me wrong, MCC can be brutal when they have the greens running 13, but its a lot shorter. Most par 4's are driver or 3 wood and a short iron. Spring Creek can play 7400 yds. from the tips and the greens are very tricky.
  16. WOW. You guys are hitting 3 irons 240?!?! I am a 2.8 handicap and average 285-290 off the tee and dont come within 20 to 30 yards of that with my hybrid 3. Anyway, I hit my Adams Pro Series hybrid 3 about 10 yards farther (215) than I would my 3 iron, but I also hit it 100 times more consistant. Every player is different. If your hitting your 3 iron that well and consistant, stay with it. If you so try a hybrid, I would recommend the Adams Pro series because it doesnt have any offset. Looks great too.
  17. I have a mixed set of Mizuno MP 60 and MP 32. The MP 32's are pretty much indentical to the 67's and I can say that the MP 60's are a LOT more forgiving in the longer irons. The playability and feel are just about the same, but again, the MP 60's are more forgiving in the longer irons.
  18. Wow, I cant believe what I am reading. The SEC is the BEST conference in the nation. You Big 10 guys cry about the SEC getting an extra game to influence voters and such. Let me give you an example of how that sucks. Tennessee was going to the NC in 2001 (i think) and all they had to do was play in this "extra" game against LSU. Tennessee lost and didnt go to the NC. If we were a weaker conference and didnt have a conference championship, Tennessee is in the NC game with a chance to win its second title in 4 years. I will give you Michigan, Ohio St, Wiscosin, and Penn St., but I laugh at Iowa and Purdue As far as traveling goes, we went to Miami in 2003 and won. Granted we dont go often but we dont have to. Two years ago, Tennessee's worst season in a while, our confernece schedule had us playing 4 teams that were in the top 10 at the time we played them and one more in the top 15.
  19. I currently have a 3 and 4 hybrid in my bag. I just recently switched to the Adams Pro series hybrids with the VS Proto shaft and I must sat that these are the best hybrids I have ever hit. The "no offset" is better for me because I have a higher swing speed and tended to power draw/hook other hybrids.
  20. www.colonialcountryclub.org We have two great courses to choose from. Our South course was once the home of the FedEx St. Jude Classic and is currently ranked the #5 course in the state of Tennesse
  21. I prefer the Titleist ProV1x. I have played the Callaway Hx Tour and it is a good ball with the exception that it scuffs easily. On an unrealted note, I am new to this forum and wanted to know how to add the "In my Bag" part to all my posts. Thanks
