New Swing.. Advice or Critism please.
jmhunter replied to Dent's topic in Instruction and Playing Tips
Nice swing my friend, I wish I was as flexibl... Very smooth. I agree with the other guys, maybe just get down a little more, I tend to bend my knees more... with your current flexibility you may be happyw ith your stance though. -

what is the sports tape for? -
I'm no expert, but the designs are very similar, I had read someone saying it on here (that if you cant putt an anser, you cant putt a SC)... ALso when I was at the store, the pro had mentioned that SCs are based on the anser patent... who knows tho.
-
My understanding is that the scotty cameron designs are essentially the anser.
-
There is a place in campbell, ca called "geared for golf"... They take phone orders, special orders, etc.. Their pricing tends to be $260 on SC putters.

I generally regard anyone who avidly uses anything that is "as seen on tv" with a scoff. It's probably because my in laws love that crap.

ahh. It's amazing how much useless stuff they make for golf. This one actually has a purpose, but as you pointed out, only works when all of the variables are taken out of golf. I wasn't poking fun at you by saying snake oil, my sleepless self was just laughing that such a gadget exists.

Hey all: I live in beautiful Salinas, CA, about a 20 minute drive to Monterey. I would say if you come to the area, forget pebble beach. You have to play Pacific Grove Municipal. The back 9 are designed by the same designer as PB, and are right on the ocean like PB. Locally we call it "poor mans pebble beach". It's about $35 for a tee time during peak hours. You're going to need to reserve it in advance during summer. As a crow flies you're looking at maybe a physical mile between those two courses. The courses I play regularly are: Twin Creeks, Salinas: The base of First Tee in Monterey, a good course very family friendly, and only 9 bucks to play all 9 after 5. Monterey pines, Monterey: Navy golf. This is located off base right at the end of the airport runway. It's a good course but they could take MUCH better care of it. $17 for 18 after 3 pm is hard to beat in Monterey Pajaro Valley Golf Club: This I believe is soon to become my home golf course. A beautiful setting, landscape in perfect condition, and the generous sundown time, makes for a $20 - 8 hole game. I fell in love with this course tonight, it isn't to be missed. I stay away from everything else thus far. Salinas Fairways, Spring Hills, San Jose Muni, Delaveaga are all on my list to play.

Somewhat off topic, but my golf game has been 100% self taught. I over heard the "pro" in a shop the other day say something about chipping that has really helped my short game: "A chip should feel like putting with a wedge", albeit you need to try and get under the ball. I took that to heart today when I played, I even did a chip in to the hole at about 20 yards, with my PW. It really helped. Sometimes with golf, it can be as simple as hearing the right words. I realised that prior to hearing that tip, I was trying to modify a pitch into a chip, even though I knew how to chip.

Amen!!!! I just read the top two posts on this thread and am responding! I felt exactly this way tonight. I was running a late game it was about 8:30pm (sundown was about 10 mins before) and was on the 17th with my 3 hybrid trying to chop this 511 yd par 5 in half. I kept topping it and moving about 25 yards at a time... I then got a call from my wife. During this time something reset for me. After the call was done I was less frustrated, and then got the 210 yard launch I needed out of the damn ball. I am a hacker, I've never had a lesson, I probably, almost certainly need one, I but I enjoy the adventure of just trying to figure this crap out. I have found that breathing, and focussing on it, more than anything else has improved my scores.

What do you think about the Wilson Staff KC4?
jmhunter replied to jmhunter's topic in Clubs, Grips, Shafts, Fitting
I played it today and I was quite happy with the performance. I'll probably snag a scotty cameron eventually too. I actually like switching up my putter usage between blades and mallets, keeps me sharp, and I think that different tools are good for different greens. -

i tend to be a brand snob too. I really liked the balanced feel. I just don't want to be the person who they just got some dead weight off the shelf with. -

The question i really have is that I really like the putter but is it worth the 119 i paid? It is also ugly as sin, but I like how it hits. -
That wouldnt work... That thing is designed for large items to be repaired

I just picked up a Wilson Staff KC4 today. I had never heard of it, but I was hitting putters for about an hour in a shop today, and the guy recommended this one. It hit about as good as the odyssey tri-ball for me, it works well. I am looking forward to trying it on the green tomorrow. Does anyone else have one?

The irons are OK, the hybrids are awesome, but the putter, woods and driver blow. I'll SLOWLY phase piece by piece this set out, and sell it as a whole eventually.
-
I have had really good luck with my costco set ($250) of Nicklaus V18 clubs. The hybrids are unbelievably good, and the irons aren't bad either. I bought them in March, after I had been hitting balls on the range for 2 months. After feeling the way a good driver feels at the store (I hit a taylormade) and their virtual driving range, I know I need a new 3 wood and driver. Right now I am focusing on a course that is a par 32 (9 hole), so its not much of an issue, the longest hole I can nearly GIR with a 3iw. The putter is stupid, a mallet wannabe odyssey style, everything else is good, including the bag. I only replaced the bag because I needed one that fit on my speed cart. For now my shopping list is a new putter, I'm thinking a blade odyssey or a scotty cameron. I think my future will look like the following (probably in the off season, hopefully more closeouts will be available). Titleist Wedges, Adams Irons, and driver I still need to do my reasearch on. I'll probably buy a 3w as soon as I start playing more longer courses. I'm playing 2 games a week right now.. one on my par 32 9 hole and a game on a standard par 72 18.

Isn't there a leftorium in springfield?
-
The best clubs in my starter kit are my Nicklaus V18 hybrids, I am very impressed with their performance.

The wii is great, but doesnt have the depth that the Ps2, Xbox, and ps3 have. no q-school.
