  1. Woods: 275 (-13) Mickelson: 276 (-12) Howell III: 278 (-10) Year of the Vets baby!
  2. Thanks for that Stonecold, Do you have a 910 for driver? If so, how far do you hit it? Just trying to gauge the distance between us here.. really contemplating a 910 f. Maybe I'll just get a 909, but I thoroughly enjoy the SureFit Tour capabilities this year.
  3. where did you find a tp rescue 1 iron? And yeah i think i'm changing my mind and am more leaning towards a strong 3 wood. I have quite the high ball flight myself so I don't generally worry too much about the approaches. Thanks for the rec! I used to have an r7 5 wood back when it was first out and i loved it. I love the feel of most TM clubs, but I just recently purchased my first Titleist piece, and boy is it a thing a beauty! I'm thinkin maybe the 910 f? Who knows though.
  4. Yeah i really like the look of those new Titleist hybrids, but I'm not sure whether I should get a 3 wood or not. Again I hit my 19 degree hybrid 205-215 on an average shot. I'm looking for something I can hit at LEAST 230, between 230 and 250. I feel that a nice 910F or Fd would fit nicely. Better go read up on some reviews..
  5. Yeah i was thinking about getting just a low degree hybrid instead because i've been money all year long with my hybrids. And they're cheaper! Thanks for the input man. Are you talking about this year's Rescue?
  6. Thanks for the 3W/4W suggestion, any specific suggestions you have tho are much appreciated. And i'm actually looking to get something thinner and more workable than the x20's and x20 tours. Maybe some blades? Who knows.
  7. True it may not be good with 460 cc's, as most drivers are this size, but with anything smaller, like with one of cleveland's HiBore drivers, It's a pretty cool play.
  8. The minute i saw this thread I knew i had to say something! Last year I was playing with a buddy of mine in gale force winds. We were playing a nice 510 yard par 5, both of us hit our drives to about 250 down the fairway and we were into 18 mile an hour winds. Now me, with my high ball flight, I decided to try a driver off the deck to reach. I've always had good carry on the driver, and never good roll, so i felt I could make it. 260 out, bunker surrounded green, pin on the upper tier, I decided it was a perfect time for a bet. "20 bucks if i knock it on?" I yelled to my friend. He took it instantly. Now the key to hitting the big dog off the deck is it helps to be on an upslope, which makes your body slightly upright naturally. allowing you to swing up at the ball. I took a few practice swings, got into address, and picked my ProV clean off the fairway. The ball flight was astounding, like a true TW Stinger. It ballooned a bit in the end, and hit the lower right edge of the green, and rolled a good thirty feet, up the tier, to a good 6 feet from the flag. 20 dollars made. That was the one and only time I have EVER tried driver off the deck. Hope this story motivates ya to do the same sometime! Who knows, you could just walk off the course 20 dollars richer, well, minus the greens fee.. (:
  9. Thanks a bunch for the input! Yeah i hit my 19 hybrid around there also, I used to have the superfast 1.0 3 wood, but i had a regular flex and i didn't really like the grip so i sold it instead of getting it fixed up, as I wanted a stronger degree than 15. But I agree with you on TM 3 woods. They make some real bombs over there at TaylorMade. I feel like all their clubs nowadays are known for deadly distance. I'll be sure to try the R11 3 wood. Only thing is I'm sure i'll get a bunch of crap from the parents as to why i'm buying a new club when i just bought a new driver haha. Also, with the driver not cooperating thing, haven't experienced much of that yet with my 910. It is truly a piece of work!
  10. Looking to cap off my bag with a new fairway wood, something that will give me the chance to really chase after those long par 5's or perhaps super long par 3's. Here is my current setup... Ping G2 Craz E Putter- Best mallet in the GAME. Callaway X20 4-SW- looking to change to something more clean and workable next season Junk 52* Gap Wedge- Gets the job done Callaway X Tour 60* Wedge- ZIPPY Warrior Custom Golf 19* Hybrid- Got it free.. Adams Tight Lies 13* Strong 3 Wood- GETTING RID OF.. Sentimentality < DISTANCE Titleist 910 D2 9.5* Driver- High Draws down the line all day. So some future changes are scheduled in the irons category, but worry bout that later, maybe when the 712 AP2's come out. Who knows. The Tight Lies 3 wood is the next to go. Got it as a hand me down from a friend of my mom's. The old all steel head just doesn't get the job done, simply doesn't have the distance in it I desire. Any suggestions on ANY clubs in my bag are much appreciated. I know the season is wearing out somewhat, especially for us in the Northern US, but I'm hoping to play some fall golf this year over the weekend. Thanks in advance for any help given!
  11. Wowsers. What a course! I'm putting that one on my bucket list! What did you and your son shoot? And the most important question, how many golf balls did ya lose? haha
  12. Yeah I do believe I've been holding it off for a while, but I have regular flex shafts in my irons, stiff in my woods and driver. Looking to get new irons maybe next year though, I have some X20's i got last year and they feel a bit chunky for me, rather have something cleaner.
  13. Thanks guys! I'll be sure to work on the level shoulders and preventing wrist flips today. Hopefully I can work it out in a few hours on the range.
  14. yeah it's golf association of Michigan, but sorry I guess no one has the time to take a picture of one. It's a gold plated emblem, about the size of a sprinkler head, used to express the fact that the hole has been measured appropriately according to USGA measuring rules. Could be complete BS, maybe its just an extra perk that courses can just say they have. Who knows.
  15. A low handicapper here with a to-the-moon ball flight. Looking to lower it a bit. Now I know it could come from 'scooping' the ball up off the ground, and picking it clean, so I try to move the ball back in my stance a bit, and I still have a pretty high flight. Any suggestions on how to keep a 'Ricky Fowler' like ball flight? Every tip appreciated!
  16. I've also noticed this problem on low budget courses, mainly for the fact that there distances aren't USGA GAM approved, you know, when you see the gold circular emblem on a tee box? USGA certified distance. All country clubs have 'em. Not too many munis, but some do. Always laser the shots is what I do, NEVER trust just the sprinkler head or scorecard. Scorecards can be WAY off sometimes due to constant tee changes.
  17. So lemme get this straight, is the golf ball permanently installed in the buckle? Or is it just a place to put your ball instead of your pocket? Because THAT would be pretty cool.
  18. Yeah about the whole couples night Friday, I'd rather not play a four hour nine stuck behind two hacks that don't really know what 'play through' means. Happened to me just last week. Very fun stuff. Pretty sure they spent a half hour on one hole...
  19. I heard using basic colored nail polish works well, haven't felt like trying it though
  20. Egypt Valley if you have connections (in Ada) and Thornapple Pointe is AWESOME! right around Gerald R. Ford Int'l Airport. B-E-A-UTIFUL course though.
  21. I don't know, it seems like rusty grooves do put more spin on the ball. The rust increases friction between club and ball, increasing spin rates. And the reason for tour players not having rusty wedges could be because wedges that are rust-creating are non-conforming..?
  22. What kurisu said, alignment. Check your shoulders first. If you tend to have a left to right ball flight, chances are you may be closing your shoulders a bit to compensate for your 'over the top' swing. Also, make sure you are turning your wrists over as you strike the ball. Good luck!
  23. thanks for the tip! Yeah its just I was going to do that to find a new driver but what about the 5 wood and shafts? I can't test them as they cannot be put in my clubs for testing purposes. Are you suggesting that i get my SS checked with both and spin and then they suggest one from there?
  24. I definitely second this. Range Pros know all the trick shots in the book. They INVENT the ones ya see on Big Break haha.
  25. Hello all, As you can tell from the title I am currently struggling with some of my equipment. For one, I am currently on a quest for a new driver. I currently have a 10.5 degree Cleveland HiBore, the ORIGINAL model, which is at least 4 years old. It has a regular flex in it. Big mistake. The reason I need a new driver is my SS with driver is around 115 to 120. I sky this thing higher than I hit a 5 iron. Ridic. I would preferably like a driver that has a nice and low, penetrating ball flight, that pierces holes through winds, but it's not a priority. The OTHER main problem with the bag is that I have a regular flex stock fujikura gold shaft in my Cleveland HiBore 5 wood. I sky that thing as high as my 7 iron, which causes me to lose a heck of a lot of distance, especially into the wind. Not looking for a new club, but rather a shaft. Any suggestions? And finally, my last issue, my iron shafts. I currently play the Callaway X-20's (4-SW, excluding GW). Not to get in depth about their workability and stuff, but again, looking for a more penetrating ball flight for windy Michigan conditions. Hit my five iron today on some morning dew greens and it hit hole high, five feet to the right, and spun back a whole 10 feet on the flat-green par 3 9th. If i would have had stiffer shafts instead of the stock uniflex, I could've kept it just sticking instead of zipping it back so much. Suggestions wanted! So, New Driver, New fairway wood shaft, and new iron shafts. Can ya help me out?
