I've jumped on a track man a couple of times. (how awesome are those things man!!!!) I know I hit 331m and then 328m the next ball. Also recently competed in New Zealand champs. Was hitting into really heavy winds and was still hitting 250-270. Will upload vid when I work out how.

I love this thread. I picked myself up the razor fit driver with the stock standard stiff Fujikura in a 10.5*. They threw in the 3 wood for free as a manufacturers special. It felt nice for a while when I was swinging relatively slow. Came to a hole that I can normally reach in one, if I give it some more power. And this horrific slice turned up. I closed the face, turned the club in my hands slightly, aimed 2 fairways left, but couldn't hit a fairway. I took the 3 wood shaft and chucked in the driver for shits and giggles at the range. Started bombing it straight away. Ball flight was never straight, but a controllable baby fade or draw. The driver has this incredible sound to it, like a shotgun has just propelled your ball 300+ yards, it actually makes you feel like a bit of a boss... Since then I have hit a significant amount of drives over 270 metres (home course in marked out in metres). Moving the ball left to right, right to left on a whim, which the occasional mega slice when I get a bit lazy ( I've put the club face back to square). It allows me to actually swing at the ball and literally hit it as hard as I like. I am currently in the market for a x stiff shaft for it, I have a swing speed of 108-112 mph. I've had pro force v2's before and liked them, so not too sure where to go... Any suggestions??? Slightly disappointing that I now cannot hit my new 3 wood, but I really liked my z-star wood anyways. RazrFit gets 10/10 from me!

Taylormade driver : RBZ or RBZ Tour driver
Stroudie replied to sergie's topic in Clubs, Grips, Shafts, Fitting
In my experience, a tour club is roughly 2* open. If you hit a nice draw with the standard, go with that, it's likely with the tour spec driver, it will turn into a small fade. -
Go-to Greenside Bunker Club?
Stroudie replied to BioGolfNebraska's topic in Clubs, Grips, Shafts, Fitting
Playing with a 3 wedge set up. Cleveland's cg16 52, 56, and 60. Go to club is always 60 lob wedge. But from a nice lie, with a low lipped bunker, you can just about do anything with what ever club. Lob wedge is definatley most effective for green side bunkers. -
I think this is something all golfers encounter. Last week I played four rounds in four days. Too much golf.... Two holes into the fourth round I was 2 under. Feeling like i was g Mac. 3rd hole, duffed my tee shot and ended the round with 95 or something horrific. I drank water, ate a cookie at the break, stretched, even hit a couple of putts, but couldn't get it back. I think next time I go out I'll be taking my iPod and headphones... Play some chilled out music and relax. I'll let u know if it works. I don't know but maybe have a look at the effect of Coitus on performance... Could be your answer :-P

Who doesn't carry a driver?
Stroudie replied to rockin johny's topic in Clubs, Grips, Shafts, Fitting
I've set myself up so I can alter what's in my bag. My home course is tight. And there's maybe only 7 holes in 27 that I would hit driver( home course has 3 sets of 9 holes). So most of the time I take out my driver and put in a 4h, and play 3 wood. I hit my 3w up to around 240-250 most days so no great shakes. Or if I'm playing an open course where poor tee shots aren't as punishing I can put driver in, and take out 4h or 4i. In saying that I score better without my driver... Maybe it's a sign.:~( -
2012 golf goals would be: Shoot sub 84 every time. To do this I will: 1) practice putting, chipping, bump and runs, 2) play distances, rather than smashing it as straight as possible... 3) focus on hitting a part of the green rather than trying to just hit it.. Leaving my ball on the wrong side of the pin kills me every time. Compete in long drive champs... 1) check it my numbers on a launch monitor 2) buy a long drive club 3) smash some shit. Help my partner to shoot under 100! 1) go to range, 2) encourage 3) not take it too seriously 4) have fun. Just quietly, this is a great thread, reading the title actually made me think about what it is I want to achieve in 6 months. something ve not ever done in a golf sense Only problem is, while everyone in the states is coming into the height of summer, us down in kiwi land are coming into the lowest of lows in winter,

Bridgestone e6 or srixon q star
Stroudie replied to clarky75's topic in Balls, Carts/Bags, Apparel, Gear, Etc.
I bought a dozen velocitys about 6 weeks ago, I Played it though the first, and couldn't stand it.... Went straight back to a z star on the second... The velocitys would be good for someone who hits a nice drive, but doesn't quite get the distance.... For me they ballooned up and were just yuckkk! I gave them to my girlfriend to play with... She got a cheeky extra 10 yards instantly.... -
Playing a local public course, I absolutely smashed my drive on a 500+ par 5. Feeling like I was hitting the ball like a boss I thought I'd play a slight cut into the green with my 5 wood. It never cut. Straight through the windscreen of a very late model ford XR6 heading down the onramp to the motorway. I saw a finger as he drove past... Il assume it was a thumbs up for being so accurate with my shot and my timing... About8 weeks ago, I teed up on a 270m par 4, the group in front were well out of sight, so I assumed they had finished the hole and were hitting of the next, I absolutely crunched this sexy as hell draw in the space of me taking my last look at the green and my ball getting to the target. The group in font wandered out from being the trees separating the green and the next tee box... On bounce lady in the side of her head.... The two retired guys in the group in front gave me high fives for hitting the green, the husband of the lady I hit tried to give me high 5s in my face.... I made birdie so I was happy, although very shaken. Needless to say I hit 3 wood on the next hole.

little help on my driver shaft/ driver in general
Stroudie replied to dericnen's topic in Clubs, Grips, Shafts, Fitting
I'd be interested to find out what u get... Let us know!!! -
Sounds like the best thing you could do is practice. Seriously, just practice. Take your volley wedges down to the range and hit them.... Over and over... When I got my cg16 wedges... I couldn't get them off the floor.. A year later and I'm dying to swap my Cleveland TA7s for AP2s. I use my forged wedges for full swings all the time... When you hit them right, They do feel like butter. It just takes time and practice.

little help on my driver shaft/ driver in general
Stroudie replied to dericnen's topic in Clubs, Grips, Shafts, Fitting
What's the reason for your change? Are sick of hitting the ball 300+? Haha :-P If its working for you, there's no point in changing a thing. If you would like to get a new driver. The best thing to do would be to go get fitted. Go to your local proshop, give them your budget and go from there. -
This is something I am also curious about.... I play rounds with middle aged men, who are still very fit, and I am playing down 3-4 clubs. Like guys hitting 4 hybrids from 150 yards.... Driver on a good day 275+ 3wood 250 2hybrid 220 4hybrid 200 4 iron ? My most inconsistent club... I can hit cleanly and get it as short as 150 or as long as 220... 5 190 6 180 7 170 8 160 9 150 P 135 G 115 S 85-90 L 70 I realize that's 14 clubs without a putter... Gives me something to play with... I can take out my driver, 4 iron, or 4 hybrid depending on the course... My home course is long and tight. So I would normally leave my driver in the car...

When i go to the range... I hit 150 Balls... 20 with my 56 to start, 50 with my 8-3 Irons, 20-30 with my driver, 20 with my woods, what ever is left with my 52, and my last one with my putter for a laugh! Bout 140 for anyone interested. My latest rounds, I have lost shots when within 100 yards. simply because ive never practiced them... Have almost fixed my drive... going from 270+ and spraying them anywhere to now hitting 230-250 with about 30 yrds of side to side variability.. Im now loving the thought of being able to hit a drive and hit the same ball next shot. Where as before 40% of the time, would be a lost ball!

Ever feel like you're on the brink of a breakthrough?
Stroudie replied to GolfBear's topic in Instruction and Playing Tips
Ive been shooting 82, 83, 81's for about 6 months... One round to remember, 6ft birdie put for a 79, missed it, missed the next one too. shot 81. But in saying that, I counted 6-7 shots which were just plain dumb...! Im out for a round today. Ive got a good feeling... hopefully a 79. -
As a young 20 Macho lad, i would love to say i can Smash one to 300+ reality is... I cant. 260 if im lucky! However, Ive never had a swing coach, I've had three lessons when i was 8 (coach was a twat). I think people see stuff on tele and try and do what they are seeing.. Buy bigger, longer clubs, larger driver heads, stiffer shafts and go all out to match Daly. Heres an Idea: Limit the driver size to 360cc rather than 460cc, get amateur players to Learn to play. rather than save up enough dough to go out and spend 4000 dollars on a set of clubs they cant even swing Properly... Ive never met a scratch golfer who relies on a 300 yrd driver... They must know what they are doing...? Even more so, my dad still plays a wooden driver...beats me by 3+ shots every time! theres my 2 cents...over and out.

I have a very similar question! Im hitting an 8.5 Callaway FT3 tour model. Absolutely love the driver head, but the shaft is much too whippy. Ive been told it has a .350 tip diameter, but cannot find a shaft anywhere with the same diameter. What should I be doing... new shaft or new Driver...? Ta
