I've had some pretty good drives in my life. The best this year was 522yrd par 5 12th hole at my home course. I had 185 left to green I did have wind helping and a slope the ball ran down after a big bounce (may have hit something). Also it was July with hard fairways when we weren't getting any rain here. Nothing else this yr came close to that. The downside was I missed the green left on my shot, kinda wasted that one.

I work on putting im my hallway the carpet in my living room does not lend itself to putting. If I ever get to play Augusta in the spring I will not have to worry about the speed of their greens, they can't be any faster than the hardwood floor in my hallway.

I voted for 2000 based on majors. If we judge a player on his greatness by major victories than 2000 was clearly a better year. With that said I'm going to sound like a candidate running for President here, last year was an amazing year. That's the great thing about the Tiger he is always making us say wow.

This has been a good season, but doesn't it seem like guys are always choking in the elimations. I'm not sure that there has been an elimation where good golf was played by everyone in it. And if I see one more snap hook I'm going to jump through the TV and lead tape the toe of everyone's driver on the show.

All I can say about the exclusivity some private clubs is, that's part of the charm. Ultra exclusive clubs have members and most members of exclusive clubs like to show off their club. If your an avid golfer networking is your best bet to get onto private club. This can take some doing and time but if your really interested in playing a course what's a little time. Here in the area where I live we have a amateur league that puts on tournaments, most of the private clubs in the area's better players play in them. I've met a lot of nice people in these events and been invited to all the local private course around my hometown. A member of private club is the same as a local public regular who love's the game. It's all about networking and making new friends. I guess if your dream is Augusta then you'd better become friends (really, really good friends) with a member, and if you do please invite me!

My Momentus Swing Trainer Experience
Matt M replied to sonicblue's topic in Instruction and Playing Tips
I have a momentus (the iron) I got it back when they first came out in the 90's. I think its a great tool if used properly. The man thing I notices is that you want to make slow smooth swings. Stopping at the top of your back swing to check club/hand postion is a great idea, just make sure you know what the correct postion is suppose to look like. The next step is to make a smooth slow swing that gets up to a nice balanced finish. For me if I swing it fast all I do is program a hook into my swing. I do like it I probably swing 3 days a week in the winter 20 times per use. -
I carry 14 clubs in my bag, my signature will describe them. I belong to a club so I could probably remove a few just cause I might rarely use them. To avoid this I play from different tees and I usually try some creative shots while I play to keep it fun.

I know this isn't a problem for all of us, but unfortunately for the vast majority this is an annual occurrence. I know that I'll get a few opportunities to play in the winter here in Ohio, it will not be warm and sunny that's for sure. I like to spend time in the gym and keep my running routine, all be it hamster-like on a treadmill. There is a driving range with over head heaters about 20 minutes from my home. This early in the year the cold still feels cold so I use it more in January and on, when the cold doesn't seem as cold. There is also a golf dome nearby but the thought of hitting 90 yd shots with everything in the bag off mats isn't exactly thrilling either. Both the heaters and the dome are a vast improvement form the days of nothing but the garage, still I'm already wanting spring to return. So what are your plans to get that handicap a few shots lower next year?

Great question, the thing I think we see is how quick everyone jumps away from driver. There would probably an improvement in some scores right there for many people. I also think that after a round or two you would be suprised how close your scores would be with just 5 clubs or 14. We all would benefit with the extra feel and shot making it would force us to learn an use.

When I was in the market for irons, I spoke with a Mizuno rep an asked the difference. Erik is correct that the MP30 is not the current iron and the MP 60 is, but there is a more significant difference. The answer given to me was that the MP 30 was made to work with wound balls and get the maximum performance out of them. They MP 60s are made with the new solid core balls in mind. They also have a lower center of gravity to help elavate ball fllight which is helpful with the modern ball.

I 'd have to agree with you on the Washingtion or Oregon Pinot's really out preform most Californians, although Belle Glos by Joseph Wagner of Camyus Fame is out standing. Austrailia is really rocking the world with some great wines. If you can find it try Torbreck-THE FACTOR-from Australia, I think the Torbreck-Woodcutter- is the lower end one but they all are very good.

Never had that but his belle glosse Pinot is out of this world.

I have to agree with the comments on the show. Sergio has acted like a child for far to long, and his boyish charm ended 4 yrs ago. It's time he carries himself like the adult he is or reap the backlash for his behavior. I know he is a ringer on the Euro squad in Ryder Cups but poor behavior is poor behavior. He has acted like a baby all season and he gets what he gets until he grows up.

I have a good friend who lives and plays in California, he wheres knickers all the time. He did have the game for it he is now 61 and is 3. I have to agree with him, having certian clothes that you wear for golf is like getting ready to play, not just going to the mall.

Well the best advice I've ever been given on swinging a golf club is 2 things.( both of which weren't apparent during todays round). 1. when you get to longer clubs realize it's going to take longer for the club to come into contact with the ball. This means don't try to swing fast with long irons or driver. 2. Be cocky once you pick your club and shot; this means don't try to hit the ball, know that you will and swing smooth. Remember like I said I haven't done this very well especially during todays round lol. Just keep swinging and working on it. Golf like life is about the journey not the end result.

I just wonder sometimes, I play these, well in my mind, good rounds of golf for weeks straight. Out of no where I go into the weeks strait looking for or trying to get it back. This is a brutal game I know I've played it all my life, but it seems this year is a year of streaky golf. I spent most of evening hitting balls on the range after 18 holes today. Thank goodness for wine takes the pain from the blisters away, lol. How's your year going in golf, are you meeting your expectations, or are you stuck in a rut?
-
Love golf but in the cold winters in Ohio my wife and I find wine as a good way to spend time together. Boy that sounds bad doesn't it. Seriously collecting some, having friends over for tasting just a way to spend time together. Was wondering how many other golfers enjoy wine.

I like bright pants and shirts. Plaids are cool anything other than the normal grey blue kahki. I have noticed at my club some members don't like the clothing. I was wondering where others stand, like or dislike and why.

Looking a guy using a belly putter is worse than watching your friend get a lap dance from a fat stripper. I'm for the ban, if the putter attaches to part of your body other than your hands it has a fixed postion. But hey so far I've yet to see anyone really putt good with one. I believe that the belly has a zero wins in major so far.

First hole at Avalon Lakes sunday. Hit my drive down the left side had 126 in. Pulled my wedge 2 feet long spun back and rested on the lip. Bummer it didn't go in but felt like i was playing Tiger Woods golf game.

I think I have to pick Tiger... I know I'm going out on a limb there but if you exclude El Tigre, I think Hunter Mahan is the guy to watch. Had a chance to watch him at Firestone. He is truely a ball stricker works the ball nicely and really thinks although on the 16th it wasn't such a good shot. Take Tiger out and I'm pulling for Mahan.

Shot of the week, Ok Erik you'll know this one. Played Sharon CC today hooked my driver on 17th into the right rough/and some trees. I know go figure i missed it left again. I had 115 to green and had to get it up quick. I laced my SW to about 2 ft short and just left bounced and stopped behind the cup 2.5 ft behind. Money shot.

Mark me down as signed up. I got stuck behind a fivesome today that as we were walking off the green says "hey if you catch us we'll let u play through if you like" WHAT DID WE JUST DO????

I play right to left flight on my ball. I find that if make sure not to over swing and play the ball in the center of my stance I don't have that problem

I played Squaw Creek today only had time for 9 shot 40 and as usually my putting kicked my tail 3 putted 4 greens.
