NXT No. 3's

Jessie Ortiz has developed a new driver for the bobby jones company. It follows the same cues as the players series, but has more of a triangular shape. It comes out in about 2 weeks. Also, he developed 2 new hybrids (17*, 35*) to go along with the already award winning set of hybrids (19, 21, 25, 30). In addition, there will be a BJ wedge set coming out as well, and let me tell you, having hit one of these bad boys, BJ might be giving the vokey a run for its money.

neudi did you play at the publinx at stone ridge? or did they have a site down nearer to dayton?

For about 5 years I played without a single wood in my bag. Im a decently long hitter, but totally inaccurate with a wood in my hand. I dropped the wood, picked up a driving iron and some hybrids and begun to really work on my long irons, approach, short game and especially skilled shots (under trees, long bunker shots, buried lies). I got my handicap down near single digits and decided to pick the woods back up. Now that I have become semi-consistant with a wood, and I still have the amazing iron/ short/ skilled game from having to work my ass off around every course for 5 years, im now looking at scratch hopefully by the end of next season. I would highly recommend this, if you are going to be playing for a couple years of course. It really made me focus hard on my short game and approaches, which are where you really lose strokes anyway. When I walk up to the tee of a par 3, im not looking to par, im looking to birdie every single time. Before I put the woods back on par 4's, I would no so much focus on getting there in regulation, but making sure I had no more than 5 foot for par every par 4. Par 3's and par 5's were my attack holes, obviously on a par 5 without a wood I wouldnt have the distance to get there in 2, so that was some pressure and possible bad decisions eliminated from my game. I would focus on getting to the green in 3 (2 iron, middle iron, wedge) lagging one up tight and walking off with a par. With this approach, Pars came easy, bogeys happened... but so did birdies. ...and now that I have the big dawgs back in the bag, and I have a huge amount of confidence in the short game, it allows me to rear back and fire off every tee box, because even if I get in trouble, I just revert back to the old ways... play for par.

no way no how... those of you who dont swear by the new nxt extremes, or for lower handicappers the nxt tours... you dont know what your missing. The solidness and yardage of a rock, with an extremely soft shell and spin comparable to the pro V... for half the cost? you guys are out of your minds if you dont play these.

pretty similar for me as well. Short 98 yard par 3 down hill. Off the tee the ball hit the side of the cup leaving a pitch mark actually around the brim of the cup. My friend wouldnt give me the 1.5 footer for birdie, and then I missed it.

In my personal experience: Callaway: Much less forgiving, a tournament player club, very low handicap. Workable, VERY playable for fades and draws. More advance of a driver while... Taylormade: Overal better. Not as long, but much, much more forgiving. Harder to work, but the ball just goes straight. I used to spray my callaway 315 yds, left right backward... everywhere. Switched to the superquad, and although I may only get it out there 300 on a good poke, its dead straight everytime. The taylormade seems to have a MUCH higher lofty ball flight.

The company I work for represents the super stroke too (we represent momentus, bobby jones, skycaddie, medicus, f2, never compromise, super stroke... basically all the comercials you see on the golf channel). Although I have heard wonders about it, i never really had a whole lot of wrist action to begin with so I never found a use for it. I go for the softer the better, thats why I love the rife grips. Im thinking about putting a red rife grip on my odyseey, but that seems just wrong.

I work for guerin rife as a part time job right now, and the island putters are amazing. They are so light, and the grips... oh the grips... they feel so good. Definitely gets the ball rolling forward faster than any putter I have seen... they cant get me to switch though I love my Dfx no 2 way too much.

I currently swing a superquad (not a TP, im cheap), but im thinking about moving to the CGB4, that thing looks amazing. Has anyone seen the new burner Irons? i had a chance to swing them at dicks the other day and they might be my next investment.

I played the wannamaker in august and thought it was just a brilliant course. Comparable to kiawah island course, just a little more swampy.

Are you talking about the PGA Village? or the PGA National course. They are both in the area I believe. Ive played the Wannamaker at the Village and from what I hear its much more of a scenic course than the National.

I happen to be fortunate enough to live on the 15 green of a jack signature course. Glenmoor CC in canton, OH. Amazing course, generous fairways that are always in imaculate condition. Its the greens that get you, they consistently roll 12's and are very undulated. The three holes by my house are called 'the bear trap' as they wind around two ponds and woods. #13 is a straight 400 something yd par 4, with the landing area tapered by woods. #14 is a par 3 completely over water with a horizontal green and a deep bunker if you miss long, about 5 yards worth of landing area with the hardest pin position. #15 is a beautiful long par 5 with a pond that runs the length of the left side, two huge bunkers guard the elevated green which has a run off chipping area long, dead zone. The green slopes severely to the front, so if your short your either in the bunkers or roll off, if your long your down in death valley.

360 no joke. I average right around 280-300. I smoked a ball dead center to a fairway that right around 300 slopes way down hill. I must have carried the ball 310, because right at the ridge of the hill, there is a cart path that bisects the fairway. I see the ball take about a 60 foot hop straight up, and WAY down the hill. 360 almost on the nose. Too bad our par 4's are terribly long because I still had a knockdown PW into the green.

no matter what degree your 3 iron comes in at I would strongly recommend picking up a 21 degree hybrid. My 3 iron is 22 degrees, my baffler hybrid is 21 degrees and I can tell you the shot capabilities of both clubs are totally different. The hybrid stretches out from 205-215, while the 3 iron is from 200-210... but i never hit the 3 iron out of the rough. 76. Bombed 6 over 300. Including on that carried about 310 and ended up about 7 yards from the green. Chipped in for eagle. If the short game would come around Id be scratch. Figures, right at the end of the season. 1 more round to go. Inverness CC in Toledo, OH!

yea they will replace it for free. I broke my RCH Callaway shaft on an old VFT Hawkeye just at the beginning of the summer and Callaway replaced it still. As long as the break comes in the course of normal play, I believe they have to replace it.

we are members of a Jack Signature course in Canton, OH (glenmoor) that is also strictly private. It plays about the same. Wide open fairways to reward the straight and long player, but tons of obsticles and rough with the thickness of a toothbrush. The greens are lightning fast and hard. I have yet to play a decent round there all year.

My cousins live off worthington hills cc. Great course. but... tartan is amazing. love it little turtle- amazing heritage - amazing longaberger can go to hell. Wow, we should get a Sandtrap golf outing together. Im down to travel to c-bus to play one of those courses. both my roommates are from the area (ones a member of little turtle, the other heritage) and im sure they would make the trip to play also (ones about a 2, the other an 8)

45-42-> 87 and I played like dog crap once again. Short game was consistent and decent, drives were good... but all of a sudden my iron game has fallen flat on its face. Figures. Funny how one piece is always missing. -Funny moment of the day. 175 yd par 3 over water. Tee box sits elevated right by an intersection. I shank my 7 Iron into the water and execute, with perfect form, the famous 7 iron throw. From behind the head, not from the side like a baseball swing. The hits hard right on the cart path and scratches the hell out of the sole. Already pissed off, about two cars sitting in the intersection must have seen my antics and honked their horns at me. Not looking good coming into this big week of golf, kinda wrapping up the season before school starts and I have no free time. Thu- Firestone CC (South or North) (OH) Fri - Glenmoor CC (OH) Sun - Doral (FL) Mon - Carolina Club (FL) -things are looking good that I might play inverness in Toledo, OH toward the end of next week as well. If it all pulls through, i might just retire after these rounds.

41-39->80 33 putts. Started off bogey, bogey, double bogey, bogey and still shot 41. Played the new NXT Extremes and they definitely have me believing the hype.
