  1. Both tournaments will be officially announced for Valhalla Golf Club in Louisville, Ky today. As a Louisvillian this is fantastic news. What are your thoughts?
  2. He's won a players championship, the tour championship, and about 15 other tournaments worldwide. That only is a "pretty solid" career for most every golfer on tour. He climbed to number 3 in the world rankings a year ago. Its pretty hard to call him overrated. Not to mention he is like all of 28 years old or something around there. In the last year alone ( from usopen to usopen) he went through a rough breakup (apparently), a broken finger, and a dislocated knee. If he doesn't produce anything else by the time he is 35 call him slightly overrated. But like I said he is only 28 and most golfers on tour would dream of having the career adam scott already has.
  3. I love craft beer. I'll keep thinking but the first that came to mind was "TILLY'S REVENGE black ale"...i think bethpage black is arguably tillinghast's most stern design. Long Island Black Ale Like someone else said Bethpage Black Ale makes perfect sense I think using Tillinghast or his nickname Tilly could be cool.
  4. I couldn't agree more. That is why the US OPEN is the greatest golf tournament in the world hands down. I love how the announcers kept saying all day all it takes is one mental error and Augusta can get you.. Please....The players ABSOLUTELY destroyed the course today. A new record for total players under par in a round. If you didn't shoot under par today you played a TERRIBLE round of golf. The winning masters score should be -8 or less. Unless the weather gets worse the winning score will be -15. Welcome to the Reno-Tahoe Open.
  5. http://www.target.com/19th-Hole-Arch.../dp/1864702230 At the end of January the 19th hole: Architecture of the Golf Clubhouse is being released. I posted that link because target is offering the book for 47.25 while some are charging the full 75. In the description of the book it said they go in depth with beautiful photographs and show you the historic clubhouses and lock rooms of the most famous courses. Some of the courses included are Shinnecock, Merion, Winged Foot, Augusta, etc. They also cover some new courses that have built gorgeous clubhouses. I am excited for this book because many of these clubhouses I will not step foot in although I hope to! Clubhouses can tell such amazing stories. It is also 300 pages long. Does this interest anyone else?
  6. wiith ebay i am nervous about getting stuck with a fake. are there any good ebay stores you suggest?
  7. the black nickel wedges they have on there are the new ones for 100
  8. they have some decent deals...the new vokey wedges are only 100 ea. scotty cameron x5 is 243 ( from 300 is really good) bridgestone b330-s marked down to 37 from 43 good deals
  9. Never played there but love the course. Maybe one day I will find my way on. There has always been talk that Merion is too short to host a major championship being they are landlocked and can't add much mength to the course. Since the usga announced the us open at Merion they have changed the specs on grooves. How much effect do you think this will have on the players? Did the usga give merion the open knowing 2 years later they were going to change the specs on grooves. I am just curious to see how this effects the players.
  10. im leaning towards a scotty red x5 34". Any thoughts?
  11. i agree with you that albatross is a good name. you can def do a lot with it. now that i think about it having a company start with " old man" might turn some people off...the name of a beer maybe not so much. it could work as a very traditional style beer. what are some other ideas you have had? are you looking to have everything involve golf? names of beers? etc? Craft beer and golf go hand and hand for me. I was in san diego for work a few months back and had a fantastic amber ale on the patio at torrey pines lodge overlooking the golf course and the pacific ocean. I fell in love with that beer, and craft brew at that moment. That was a very pleasant memory for me. i'll gladly keep giving thoughts. A lot of them will be terrible but hey that's part of brainstorming a business idea.
  12. I am really into craft brews as well. Not making them but enjoying them. Anyway I am still trying to brainstorm a bit for the name. Your flagship brew (such as a staple like new belgium fat tire) could have a description of "a beer unlike any other" You could also have an end of the year type seasonal release beer called " glory's last shot" Not sure of anything else at this point. Maybe Albatross Brewing Co ? Old Man Par Brewing Co.??? ( When Bobby Jones played match play he always reminded himself he was playing against old man par and not his opponent) Ultimately led to the great success he had. "Old Man Par" was mentioned many times in his book "the grand slam" Tie that in to your brewing company with the fact you aren't out there trying to match other brewing companies beers but instead your success would come from sticking to your own tastes, talents, and ideas of what a good beer is.
  13. The reason Yum! Brands sponsors JB is because the company is headquartered in Louisville, Ky. JB grew about an hour away and is one of our famous notable Kentuckians.
  14. i base my tees on where the fairway bunkers are in relation to my tee shots. If I am flying the ball over or past the fairway bunkers from the middle tees then I move back to the tips. On my home course which is about 6950 I play the tips. The fairway bunkers stretch from 260-280 from the tee roughly. I would say keep moving back (or move forward) until the fairway bunkers come into play
  15. Stricker Holmes O'Hair Snedeker I think Holmes will get picked because A) he is deserving of it ( I think anyone from 9-20 is deserving because there aren't that many points that seperate these guys over a 2 year span) B) he is a great match play player ( remember he had woods 3 down on the back nine and lost because woods put on the most insane putting clinic I have ever seen) c) he has played valhalla more than anyone else especially since all the changes/ renovations have been made d) he has the same swing coach as azinger e) he is a very emotional player and I think having 2 guys from kentucky on the team will put the make the crowd go nuts Imagine him and perry going out in the first match. The crowd would be nuts.
