  1. I bet you are flipping the club head. Does your tee move? I fight this problem most days. I have an 8.5 degree drive and still hit it a mile in the air. I took a lesson to try and fix it, and have gotten better, but it still sky the ball quite a few times a round.
  2. I have one. It is a piece of crap. I hate it. Bought it for 120 yard shots. Goes 100 same as my 56*. It cant possibly be my swing could it. No, in truth, i love it around the greens. Just frustrating on the full shots thus far.
  3. The guy writing the article is just a tool. Have you been to a college baseball game lately. The straight brim is everywhere. I dont particularly like it, but I bend mine sharp and have a fish hook on it. What does that mean? People are going to have to find something to hate, this dude just picked Ricky Fowler. I follow his twitter, seems like a good dude. There are much worse role models on the course, that is for sure.
  4. Just an FYI, it isnt a rapper hat. Fowler is a motocross guy, they all wear their hats like that.
  5. Titleist. I am one Scotty Cameron Squareback away from completion. Just bought the 710CB irons today. Dont think I can drop three hundy on a putter though, so it looks like my anser 2 will have to suffice. Maybe I can put some sort of decal on it.
  6. If Morgan Pressel or Christie Kerr or Paula Creamer or Natalie Gulbis are on I am watching. I love watching good golf, but I am still a man. I hate tennis, but I watch Sharapova.
  7. 3 straight rounds in the high 70s. A first for me, of course i shot 85 yesterday to break the string.
  8. Had 5 birdies my last time out. went bogey bogey double to finish. 2 par 5s. Had 72 in my sights and blew it. Still my second best round ever - 76. Best ball striking day I can ever remember.
  9. I am self taught as well. I have contemplated many times getting lessons, but after a talk with a family friend who was a teaching pro for years have decided against it. I mentioned it to him a couple of years ago when I played a round with him at his course in Myrtle Beach and he asked what I wanted from my game. I told him I wanted to shoot par. He asked me if i had a job. I replied yes. He asked me if I had kids. I said yes. He told me to forget about getting lessons. He went on to tell me that when he was playing tour events, his 40 hour a week job was hitting golf balls. He told me unless i had time to put in hours of work weekly, the lessons would be a waste of money. After the round, in which i shot 83, he asked me did i have fun. I said yes. He said that is all that matters.
  10. not to bring you down, but i broke 80 for the first time in 15 years a month or so ago and have only broken 90 once since then. i thought i had it figured out and started trying to birdie every hole and BLAM! 95. just treat your 74 as another round and play the next one like you are trying to break 80 for the first time.
  11. I dont get the whole sandbagging thing. I am a competitive guy. But I want to be the best of the best when i do things. I dont want to beat a 20 handicapper(no offense guys), i want to beat a scratch golfer. Not with my pencil, but with my game. the "sandbaggers" out there are just washed up losers who need that 5th flight trophy to make them feel like they still have it.
  12. Evidently this guy couldnt get tickets or got thrown out of Augusta for something. I have been to both the Master and a US Open(Pinehurst) and the Masters was far and away more impressive. Granted the US Open is a much harder test of golf, and I love watching Par win.
  13. i dont really know if the swing speed give an amatuer, who is inconsistant, an accurate distance estimator. of course most of the launch monitors and simulators are in the stores to sell drivers so they are probably off too. i do know that at a ball fitting and a club fitting on separate occasions at different locations my swing speed was around 105. i am a big guy with a lot of power, but the SkyCaddie GPS tells me i hit my drives about 240-250. that doesnt seem to jive with the swing speed number but what do i know? i am sure i have tons of backspin and my trajectory is wack as well. for all of the high handicap 300 averages out there, get a gps and mark your ball, hit it, walk to where it ends up and read it and weep.
  14. lean to take your medicine. there may be a 4 foot gap between those trees, but trust me, punch it out into the fairway. will save you a ton of strokes.
