  1. Not sure how many laps is a half mile in my pool. It's a 50 yard lap pool though... Finished workout 1B and it was just as difficult as yesterdays. On the bright side though, I haven't had this much fun working out so hard in a long time....maybe ever. I really need to get a pull bouy and some fins to complement some of the sets I'm doing.
  2. Ghost ride the whip! lmao...
  3. Awesomesauce...
  4. Really this is the only way they could keep the show relevant, unless they did another heavyweight show. Silva and St. Pierre have zero competition, and there are far too many contenders in the other weight classes for them to try and get people excited about an up-and-comer imho. So, it was either heavyweights(boring), or the little guys. I'm completely stoked they chose to show off the weight classes that haven't gotten that much love from the MMA world.
  5. I agree with you 100%...he's quite the character...lol
  6. I know Bisping and Miller don't qualify as nobodies, but by the same token imho, neither one of them are top tier contenders in their weight class. I think the key word in your post is the word WAS. Anyways, should be a good season this year...can't wait to see how it plays out.
  7. This is a tricky question in that a "bad score" doesn't necessarily mean you shot a high number. Think of it this way, if I shoot an 82, but miss four birdie putts inside 9 feet, and three putt two more greens...that could be considered a "bad round". However, to answer your question, on the days when you just don't have it, imho, a round that is over double your normal HC is probably a bad round. Having said that though, obviously a golfer that normally shoots mid-high 90's, well anything that is ten-fifteen shots over that could be considered a bad round. There is nothing that defines a "bad round" really, it's all about your own perspective on how you scored the golf ball.
  8. At one point in time, I was a huge fan of this show, however in recent years Dana White had been using the show to promote fights that no one would have really cared that much about otherwise(aside from Georges St. Pierre and Josh Koschek). This year though, with the introduction of bantamweights and featherweights, it seems to be quite promising. Those little bantamweights really go out there and slug it out! Though they may be small, rest assured, these guys DEFINITELY want to finish the fight. White also changed the venue of the elimination fights to an actual arena giving the show a much needed face lift from the drab training complex they used to fight in (I'm sure they'll end up fighting in the old ring at some point.). It should also be mentioned that the coaches this season are Michael Bisping and Jason Miller (two relative nobodies when compared to some of the previously over-hyped coaches).
  9. I could be wrong, but I'm pretty sure they could have told you that without you striking a single ball...isn't a static fitting based partially on height?
  10. Forgot about those guys...I can see how the median driving distance would drop considerably when you factor that in...lol
  11. I'll give $150....that's thirty cheaper than what I can get them at Dicks
  12. LOL...the only reason I had opened this thread was because I bought some MP 32's last month....
  13. He COULD just do this....however, having his clubs static fitted(I believe it's called) would absolutely be the better option in the long run imho. Properly fit clubs will always improve your game over solely "choking up"...on a side note, shouldn't it be called "choking down?"...just wondering. As far as grips are concerned, I feel they make all the difference in the world. If you don't have a club that feels great in your hands it's never going to IMPROVE your game.
  14. So you're saying that the majority of amateurs hit their driver as far as I hit my 6 iron? I just find that difficult to believe. Novices and beginners, perhaps, but anyone with any remote knowledge of how a golf swing works should be able to hit a driver farther than that imho...also assuming the individual has a reasonable fitness level.
  15. I'm not trying to be controversial, but really? Golf Digest is the source you're claiming? Might as well have said your kids jr. high golf coach said it imho...
  16. So I finished my first swim training session...and WOW! I didn't realize how difficult it was going to be, and I've always been an above average swimmer. On Speedo's website, the estimated time is about a half hour...it took me an hour and fifteen minutes to compete it! Very tough workout, yet I can't wait to head back in the morning and try workout 1B. I have a feeling I'm going to end up becoming addicted to this program...more to come.
  17. It would be hard to determine whether or not shaft stiffness is a factor in your slice without seeing video or at least knowing your swing speed. Chances are, since you played in high school, you probably need a stiff shaft, but I highly doubt you need an x-stiff. Having said this, my thoughts are that while you were trying to hit your driver straight with a regular flex shaft you probably picked up a few bad habits in your mechanics and haven't worked them out of your swing yet. Whenever I'm hitting my driver, or any club for that matter, poorly I force myself to not make a rotation that takes my left shoulder past the ball. It slows down my tempo quite well and also forces me to make a smaller swing on the ball. I also try to focus on pointing my belly button towards my desired target in the follow through. These things work for me, so you might try them...but, once again...it's really hard to determine what's going on with your swing without seeing it.
  18. I fully understand where you are coming from on this...maybe I was just letting my alter ego "Mr. Conspiracy Theory" come out...lol. It seems he has a weird little move at the top before starting his down swing...could have been the scotch I was drinking that caused me to see that though.
  19. I get what the point you are trying to make now...
  20. I've been paired up with smokers before, and generally speaking, most of them are very respectful. I think the problem really comes in when there's some guys out beer golfing and end up starting the 19th hole on the 10th.
  21. As a Cowgirls fan, I wish Romo had sat out as well...assuming he doesn't end up playing Monday. Cutler absolutely did the smart thing by sitting out. I wonder how long Peyton Manning had really been having neck issues before finally getting the first surgery.
  22. Why in the world would an admittedly new golfer want to play from the tips? Especially when you consider he has to really go at it to reach 250...
  23. LOL...I think I'm finished for a while...at least until I can afford a newer set of Mizuno's or some Yonex's. I needed to get a better set of clubs than the Ram Laser's I purchased when I was getting back into the game. Now I have a set I'm happy with and will hopefully last a while. I'll probably end up re-shafting and re-gripping my Mizuno's , but other than that I'm good for a while.
