  1. The duffer I was paired with today questioned me when I used a four iron off a 330 yd dog leg par four with a freaking redwood guarding the corner. "Why don't you just try and hit it over the tree?" he asked. " My response was, "because I'm trying to keep the ball in play." I birdied the hole, he tried to fly it over the redwood and made double...lol
  2. This is exactly what I do on off days. Fantastic advice!
  3. Hell yeah...congratulations man! I shot my lowest round of the year thus far today, and am celebrating by watching a little football and having a nip of the whiskey.
  4. Ha...the HT driver was sold out before I ever had the chance to purchase it...so I bought the Adams Speedline F11 instead...lol
  5. Using a driver is completely and totally overrated at the amateur level. Until recently I was very inconsistent with my driver, so I would always tee up a 3 wood. Not only did it save me strokes, it boosted my confidence as well. This game is about keeping the ball in play, not hitting it a mile and a half.
  6. I agree, you need to stick with one coach...the one that suits your style of play best. I would imagine that by having two people giving you instruction, you will end up with conflicting ideas as to how to approach the game.
  7. Jim Furyk comes to mind....not pretty by any stretch of the imagination, but by the same token, he ain't starving to make a living either.
  8. This thread came to mind today as I was playing my round. I hate it when groups begin yelling at the cart girl who is two fairways away...she's coming that way, just be patient. Not only is it disrespectful to her, but your loud ass nascar whistling is slightly irritating. The marshal actually had to tell them to hold their horses, she's making her rounds. Thankfully we soon made it far enough away that they were no longer annoying...well, to us at least.
  9. Actually, I thought someone had posted a list on here about which websites online were prone to selling fakes, but again, I could have read it wrong. It seems that no one in response to this thread has had any problems with RBG, so I would say go ahead and get them...but those are just my thoughts.
  10. I think you nailed this right on the head. People are obsessed with being able to hit a wedge into every par 4, or a long iron to reach every par 5 in two....and that is just not a logical thought process. The guy I was playing with today was overswinging so badly that naturally he was as inconsistent as my five year old at hitting one down the middle...and the kicker...he knew he was doing it. He would reach parallel, then make this weird little move at the top, causing his swing to be way above his physical limitations. He had lost every shot essentially before he began his downswing.
  11. Shot one over today. I couldn't be happier! I still feel that I could have played better, as I three putted two par 5's I reached in two and hit my drive on the fourth OB...saved bogey on that one....whew. My new Adam's Speedline F11 has really given me a confidence boost off the tee as I'm hitting my target more often, if not flying over it. It's a great feeling when the drives are going long and straight . Anyways, this is my lowest score since picking the game back up again, and I couldn't be more satisfied. At this rate, I'm going to have to set some lofty goals for myself next season.
  12. I've actually hit those before, a guy I was paired with one day had the woods and I hit them a couple of times. That's actually what made me want to hit the driver.
  13. No I'm not barely swinging you donkey...I said it feels like I'm barely swinging. In more simple terms, the club is very easy to swing and always feels smooth. Whatever happened to reading comprehension? How can you be a 5 HCI and have zero reading comprehension? Oh, and for the record...it's YOU'RE...not YOUR
  14. I originally wanted to buy the TM Burner on clearance at Dick's, but when I went in to purchase it, they were sold out! ****! Since I was there, and in the mood to spend some money, I tried out a few other clubs and was 100% sold on the Adams Speedline F11....so naturally, I bought it. It's selling for $199 and comes with an Aldila Voodoo shaft, mine is a stiffy...lol. Anyways, I hit this driver farther and straighter than any driver I've hit in my entire life! It feels like I"m barely even swing the club and it's going about 290-295, but I have a pretty decent swing speed as well. Needless to say, what was going to be a backup driver has become the most consistent club in my bag. I wonder if all the clubs Adam's makes are this nice?
  15. I thought I had read somewhere on here that there are quite a few fakes that come from RockBottomGolf....maybe I misunderstood though.
  16. I would say that if it's the Wilson's you REALLY like, then you should probably wait until the pro shop has them in stock to fit you. However, if you must have irons ASAP, then go in and hit them both. If your handicap really is 25, then the AP2's may be a bit too difficult for you to hit consistently, at least imho, but what it really comes down to is picking the clubs that you feel most confident in.
  17. I only hit a few balls with one club, and was fortunate enough to strike all three really well, but I can definitely understand where you are coming from. And yeah, that's what I was thinking about switching from Yonex to TM as well. TM seems to be making stuff that isn't as amazing as touted and putting a very hefty price tag on their equipment, but that's just my opinion.
  18. I wonder what would have happened if someone had taken the time out of their practice session to go comfort the crying baby....lol
  19. I went in to the local Roger Dunn today to kill some time and jumped on the simulator. I hit 20 drives, with the Adams Speedline F11. Here are the results: Swing speed avg: 101.71 but I cranked one out at 109 that probably would have been the ugliest slice I've ever seen. Ball Velocity avg: 149.2 Launch Angle :17.9 Ball spin: 2419...seems low for my swing speed Carry: 252.8 Total Distance: 280.8 PTR%: 146.7...I have no idea what the hell this even is. I guess my question is pertaining to whether or not my launch angle is okay, and does my ball spin seem low relative to my swing speed? Thanks in advance.
  20. I agree with this 100%. I think I might seriously look into getting a set of Yonex though, the more I look at their site the more I am sold on them.
  21. Lol...from what I've been reading it seems like these switching to TM's from Yonex was a downgrade...but I have nothing to base that on, just going off what I've been reading about them.
  22. I played the 20XI one round and hated it actually. It never felt right tee to green at any point in time. Maybe I'm just a Nike hater though...lol
  23. I believe it is equally annoying when someone has a short chip to the green, parks their cart well past the green, then only grabs an 8 iron out of the bag...only to have to walk 25 yards to retrieve their putter after it takes them two shots to hit the green from 4 yards away.
