  1. The answer is NO. That is not to say there is anything wrong with it, but there is no benefit to your game.
  2. There is no question that counterfitting, as opposed to a similar club with a different name, is illegal. My question is for anyone who has actually purchased and used these clubs is can they actually perform or are they totally worthless as golf clubs?
  3. I have the harder foam balls and the squishy foam balls. I have an Aerobe frisbee that I use as a target. I have thick carpet in my apartment which allows the balls to really spin. I can hit flops with a 60* and the harder foam balls spin back a good 3-4 feet every time. Outdoors they really dont fly to well, but indoors they are great for working on feel and technique.
  4. If you switch from a Game Improvement Iron to a smaller head with a smaller sweet spot, you will hit the ball further. The issue of loft does not mean you lose distance. If you hit a GI 45* PW and a smaller head forged 45* PW, you will hit the second further if you hit it properly. If you are getting Mizuno's to get that sweet feel, do your self a favor and get an MP set. In my opinion, there is no feel with a game improvement iron, regardless of the manufacturer. In the long run, a few hundred extra bucks now will mean nothing when your scores drop.
  5. If you swtich from blades to a more forgiving forged iron you may lose some yardage. Looking at the clubs you have, you will gain yardage, as I assume you are playing oversize clubs. Whoever wrote that must not be able to hit smaller forged heads and perhaps that is why they are losing yardage.
  6. I have had very good experiences at my local Dick's. The pro there is somewhat capable, and their selection is impressive. There is no comparison to a store that specializes in only golf, however, I am really surprised to hear about all of these complaints. I would never rely on someone who worked there to make a decision for me, but I think that goes to say for any employee who you do not have a personal relationship with. Perhaps my local Dick's is the exception rather than the norm?
  7. There are newer clubs which are more forgiving, but they are not in the same class as the 962's. I played 962's for about 10 years and would consider those "players irons." Some of the newer MP's from Mizuno are more forgiving than the 962's, but not by much. If you can hit the 962's solid though, I would not worry about finding more forgiving clubs. Go hit some new things at the range, but if you find its not broke, don't fix it!
  8. I wear a medium size glove, but would say I am closer to the small side than large side. I play Winn DuraSoft Midsize (+ 1/16") because I feel the bigger grip takes out my wrist action. Also, my hands just feel more comfortable on a softer grip for some reason. Initially I made the change on my wedges, then my driver. Now I am putting them on everything, except putter. No question there is a difference for me.
  9. I use a groove sharpener and have seen immediate results. My previous set of wedges were not generating the same amount of bite so I used a homemade groove sharpener and was surprised with the results. Most notable difference was my 60* off of a tight lie. I also sharpen my irons, however, the results are not as clear. I am not sure I would go out and buy one, but you would be surprised what can sharpen grooves effectively in your tool set at home.
  10. If you are hitting fat/thin shots with a wedge from the fairway, the problem is not with the bounce of the club. It means you need to work on your ball striking and timing. If you are a good ball striker and still find that your are catching it fat/thin, then you can think about a change. If your handicap listing of 30 is accurate, I would suspect this is the problem, not the club.
  11. Its wonderful that you are interested in your equipment, but at this stage of your game, you should be concentrating on your swing fundamentals. Of course equipment can play a role in creating a solid foundation, it is not the most essential factor. There are way too many golfers out there with the best stuff money can buy who could not shoot a decent score to save their lives. Your swing is the most important piece of equipment you have, never forget it!
  12. I had a similar problem with a gap in my wedges, however, my situation was a little different because I had a 60* and a 56*, so the obvious choice was a 52*. I think having the wedges in 4* incrimients will ensure consistent yardage spacing, or any other consistent incriminet.
  13. I have been trying to hunt down bargains on new wedges for some time now and found a great way to do so. I called my local Dick's Sporting Goods and asked them if they price match. They said they do. I went down there with an add from a website which had the wedges I wanted for about 20 bucks less than they sold them for at Dicks. Easy as that! Save money on the shipping charges and get to walk out with the product at the same price. You're welcome!
  14. It will be in between a 3 wood and a 3 iron, with the prospect of pulling one of those depending on how well I can hit the hybrid. It will likely be the 3 wood because it is old and outdated. I hit my driver 280 on average, 300+ when I am feeling loose.
  15. I do not currently have a hybrid and need something consistent to hit between 220 and 240. What is the consensus on the best hybrids and what degree will benefit my game most? I have a mid trajectory ball flight with my long irons and usually hit a draw, although I am trying to integrate a high cut as well. Thanks in advance for all of the help.
  16. Take a look at the CG14 as well. Both other options will provide more bite. Some people say Vokeys are a little more difficult to hit, but I have not found that to be the case. In the end of the day its all about what looks good to you when you look down at the club and how much confidence that gives you. Good luck.
  17. A word to the wise about a weighted training device. These devices, if used incorrectly, can do a number on your timing and your swing mechanics. You will naturally alter certain parts of your swing to accomodate the extra weight and it may result in a swing problem with the normal club. Whatever swing problem you have can likely be fixed with another method. Personally, I would go another route.
  18. Must be nice to have so much free time.
  19. Hate to say it, but you get what you pay for. Why would you get these in the first place? Did you lose a bet?
  20. I think switch to a more forgiving iron is a mistake. No matter how often you play, the great thing about a club like MP-60's, or similar clubs, is the immediate feedback. If you switch to a club with less feel and feedback, your shots may look better, but your swing may be getting worse. This is like doing a math problem and getting the right answer, but for the wrong reasons. If you plan on playing enough now that you want to invest all this money into new clubs, why not spend that time and work on your swing? Just my two cents.
  21. E-bay scares me becuase of the large knock off market.
  22. I play 60's and absolutely love them. They look great, and when you hit the right shot, you have no doubt as to exactly how far and where it will land. I have been on the course, hit a shot, and not even looked up because I know what these clubs are capable of when the are hit purely. Additionally, since I do not play as much these days, when I practice, I instantly know when something is wrong with my swing because of the club feedback. If you do not hit where you are supposed to you will know about it! Some people may say this is a bad thing, however, I disagree. If you are an athlete, you will figure out how to fix the problem to hit the good shots, or you will just play like crap all day if you do not! I have tried other MP's and think all are great. I happened to specifically choose the 60's due to timing and a deal I cam across a few years ago. Hope this is helpful.
  23. Thanks, everyone. You have been helpful as always!
  24. I am looking for a new set of wedges and was curious as to what online equipment retailer everyone holds in the highest regard. Who has the best deals out there?
  25. Try to go to some big place like golfsmith or something like that and place an order with them or talk directly to Taylor Made. Where there is a will there is a way, and espcially when someone can make a grand or so from it on the other end. Im jealous!
