I'm in, if there is still room.

I disagree... If you eat enough, or too much like me, you're body can handle losing electrolytes for a while. You have plenty stored in your fat cells. Water will keep you hydrated, and dodging the sugar is helpful for staying that way. Save the Gatorade for after the round if staying as cool as possible is the goal. If drinking something other than water helps you enjoy your time on the course more, then have at it, but water is what will keep you coolest. I suppose sugar free Gatorade or whatever is a valid option though.

I know this sounds crazy, but applying sunscreen 2-3 times per round seems to help me. Maybe it's in my head, but I sure do feel better. I also try to wear "dri-fit" style clothing so that the breeze is cooler, and my sweat can cool me off a little better. Like others have said, I think the most important thing is staying well hydrated. Starting a day or two before you play is best.

I like to stay some what organized. Not neat, but I know where everything is. 1 - Divot tool, ball markers, current glove (these come out during the round, and this pocket holds phone, wallet, and car keys during) 2- sunscreen, bug spray, spare glove, rain cover, extra towel, spare $20 bill, and some crackers 3- Tees 4-balls 5-sharpie, pencil, yardage books for my home courses 6- A drink or two

I love the green side bunker shots. I'm not good at em, but I think they are fun. I feel the same way about longish to medium putts with a big side to side break. They are tough, but when I sink one, it makes me feel like a boss lol. I also, like was said earlier, enjoy any shot where I'm using a club outside of its intended purpose I.e. using a 3 wood to punch 60 yards under a tree.

Shot a 93. The water kept moving to right under where my ball was gonna land! I should have been in the mid 80s if that stinking water would have just left me alone.

Haha! That sounds familiar.

I don't know how it didn't occur to me to take a picture... I regretted not taking one about 2 minutes later.

The thread title pretty much tells the tale

I "Tee'ed it forward" today... my thoughts >>---->

But, did you sink the put? -
We have a long uphill par 5 at a local course here. The road runs along the right side for the last 300 yards or so. The fairway is more uphill than anything, but runs slightly left to right. I 'should' be able to reach it in 2 if I get a really solid tee shot. I have some mental block though, and no matter how hard or easy or smooth I swing, my second shot avoids the fairway like the plague. Sometimes I find the street, others I shank it to the left, other times I'll get solid contact straight up the fairway and OB because the I don't want to go in the street. Ugh!

I like this... That's a great way to let people know that you're watching, but avoid having to start an awkward conversation. Really, I just wish people would say "I made par on that hole. I cheated/ heled my self out a bit/ took a mulligan since I'm just 'practicing'/ whatever, but I'm taking a par." That would be more than fine by me until there is a reason to compete. At that point, I like the idea of every one having to say their score aloud.

Very true... More calories burned than consumed is the only way for weight to be lost. It does get a little more complicated than that though if you have any other goals i.e. improving your health or getting your beach body together. My personal beach body looks a lot more like an innertube than a six pack lol!

Do you have a link to these studies? That doesn't really add up in my head. I'm sure taking a full swing uses a lot more energy than walking, but for like 1 second at a time tops. You only really take about 27 full swings in a round, so I would think the walking would be where practically all of the benefit is. I'd love to read something that says otherwise, because swinging a club is way more fun than walking around with one.

using different golf balls
jtw89 replied to JerryTimes's topic in Balls, Carts/Bags, Apparel, Gear, Etc.
I buy a little of everything right now. I want to find a go to ball, but I can't tell that big a difference, and playing whatever I can find/ is on sale is a lot cheaper. -
Shot a 44 today. My summer goal is to break 90 so this was a pretty good outing for me! Would've been a lot happier with out the triple and double on 7 and 9 respectively. First round with my new rbz stage 2 3 wood, which I got for Father's Day. That thing was long and straight! Can't wait to hit it again!

That's pretty awesome. She looks pretty good in this picture for sure

The other day I had a shot land right behind some low hanging branches about 35 yards shy of the green. Instead of trying to punch under the trees, I decided to try to use my putter to pop the ball with loads of top spin so it would roll towards the green (really just kind of an experiment). It didn't work. Instead, I popped the ball straight into my own throat, and got myself an even worse lie. Is there any sort of penalty for hitting myself? Do I just play it like I hit another player on the course?

Oobgolf is free and keeps basic stats. I think there is a paid version that does a little more.

This is crazy... MJ is a legend. Legend enough that he could wear a tutu on the course if he wants to. While I'm thinking of it, all 6 time NBA champs can wear whatever they want on the golf course. The idea of rules are rules are rules are rules is too much, at least when it comes to things that have no affect on the game whatsoever. I'm all for rules, and having people follow said rules, but you have to be somewhat flexible. How happy could club management have made their members if they could have gotten MJ to play a round with some people (maybe as a raffle prize or something). Instead, they just hacked off one of the men responsible for a large part of American culture for the last 30 years. Seems a little too hoity toity to me.

About 345 yds. I ended up just in front of the 50 yd. marker on a 410 yd. par 4. There was a bit of a dog leg right, and I decided to cut the corner. It was a pretty open hole without too much trouble anywhere, so I decided to let it rip more than normal. I guess I caught it right, and the ball went flying.

Personal best of 98 today. I know that's not too great, but a good start for my summer goal. I hope to shoot a 90 before football season hits. Also, today is the first time I ever played an entire round by the book. It hurt me when I posted an 11 on a par four due to a shanked tee shot and two topped balls into water, but I'm happy to play by the rules.

I always wear my "coaching" watch, witch is a rubber banded runner's watch, and my wedding ring. I'd feel naked without my watch, and didn't get all that into golf until I was already married.
