81 on a par 36. Let's just say I've gotten rusty since the last time I played a round of golf about 10 years ago. And maybe me having played plenty of baseball in between didn't help my swing.
-
I'll try the two bag idea. I'd like to apologize to everyone for not knowing such a widespread rule. I've been out of golf for 10+ years until now.
-
Yeah. We'll see. I might just have to go by myself. My problem is that in all the people I hang out with or see on a regular basis, I'm the only one with a golf set, so I can't really go with any of them with this rule. My uncle who lives a half hour away has a set, but I don't think we're gonna make that trip just for the set. I remember a few weeks ago before I bought this set I was looking for someone to borrow a set from, and I couldn't find anyone. Life sucks I guess.

Okay, I understand that point. But when I buy a golf set, and my dad doesn't have one anymore, how am I supposed to take him out to golf?

Beer or Milk? What Would You Do If You Won a Major?
FowlPlay replied to Tyler Ryne's topic in Golf Talk
I'm perfectly content with that too. I wasn't discussing how much he drinks, rather just his beer of choice. I didn't mean to come off as a douche, so I'm sorry. Back to the topic. -
Beer or Milk? What Would You Do If You Won a Major?

Meh, I just have had bad experiences with Budweiser beer. But, If Keegan likes it, then so be it. I guess he probably didn't want to hit the liquor store in fear of being recognized. -
So first off, I'd like to say this thread is a completely different topic than the "let other people try your clubs" thread. I'm getting my paycheck in tomorrow, and I'm getting ready to play my first 9 holes of golf since I quit approx. 10 years ago. There is a golf course literally within a mile of my house, and I am planning on taking my dad out to play with me (on my money). Apparently there is an incredibly ridiculous rule at this course that you can't share your golf set with a playing partner (your partner has to play with his/her own set). I have no idea why anyone would think up such a stupid rule. Does your course(s) have a rule like this? Do you agree it's a terrible rule?

Beer or Milk? What Would You Do If You Won a Major?
FowlPlay replied to Tyler Ryne's topic in Golf Talk
True that. But I thought he could've at least bought something premium considering he's got a fat check coming in. If I won a major, I would probably buy multiple kegs of some of the best beer in the world, and have a private dinner and party with my friends and family. -
Sounds like that's your version of the red and black sunday Tiger.

Beer or Milk? What Would You Do If You Won a Major?
FowlPlay replied to Tyler Ryne's topic in Golf Talk
All I can say is that he just won a major, and he's drinking perhaps the worst brand of domestic beer. Lost a point in my book. -
If Tiger seemed less upset than he did, yeah, I would agree. But you could tell he wasn't ready to just "give up" the rest of the majors of his career. We don't know if he'll win (I think he will), but I'd at least expect to see him up there even in the mix of the Keegan Bradleys, Rory McIlroys, and Rickie Fowlers (don't hate, I didn't claim he was already a top 5 player).

"Get in the hole" seems like a pretty normal cheer. I think the fact that it stands out is just what annoys you guys. But really? Claps and cheers are all people should do? Sounds boring to me. Don't insult a cheer that only shows the scope of the spectator experience. I think some of you have grown up too serious about how things should work. Having fun is all it's about. Just because you are irritated by such a cheer, doesn't meant that guy is a douche, it probably says more to how you've been raised to be very mild with how you express excitement. And no, I don't require it to be exciting, but I don't see how it's so wrong to do it. But you said it correctly, it's probably just personality differences. But then again, we can't expect to have this worldwide sport catered to each of our personalities. Let it grow, let people enjoy the sport as they like to.
-
My point is that claps and the typical "cheer" just makes golf more of what all the people on the outside think it is: the thing you watch when you are about to take a nap. In my opinion, you guys are being a little too uptight about how you want the spectator experience to be. Golf has made so much progress over the past century. Pretty sure the younger generations aren't gonna be too interested in a game with the same boring claps and cheers with Nick Faldo or David Feherty narrating the shot. "GET IN DA HOLE!" isn't a douchebaggery cheer, it's a way of adding excitement to a sport that is seemingly boring to the general public (especially younger people).
-
I think it was a little of both. Dufner choked by losing that seemingly large lead, but Bradley played incredibly. How do you stop a guy on fire like that?
-
What is your definition of "entertaining golf"? To me, any guy that comes back from a terrible hole to win in a playoff is quite entertaining.
-
We need more excitement. Little spurts of crazy cheers like "GET IN DA HOLE!" and "MASHED POTATOES" just adds some brief entertainment. It's gone for 95% of the rest of the tournament.

From Tiger's press conference yesterday, I'm completely confident he knows what and how he needs to do this. He started off -3 yesterday through 5 holes! It's obvious he knows what he did wrong. The only thing that could hold him back today is illness if he caught any.
-
Statistics... meh. All he needs is to have a balance of feeling fresh, and feeling in tune with the game. I'm gonna say he wins one next season. My guess is the U.S. Open. The only thing I think that could go against him if he's feelin good is the young talent.

Birdie. Thank goodness Rory.
-
Oh, Chargers lost to the Seahawks! Chiefs to win the division!
-
I agree. They completely forgot to show us where Rory's tee shot on 12 went.
-
Fowler with the Eagle on 12!!!
-
So Tiger +7. I thought there couldn't be another recognizable name below that but... Ryo Ishikawa +15... wow.

I just bought a decent set of used clubs on eBay for $50. A bunch of balls and tees with it too. The only club that I didn't get that I may need is the Sand Wedge. I suggest looking around on eBay for a set. Don't be afraid to bid on a set with some visible grass stains. After all, by the time you need to buy a new set, you may just have a bigger budget. Good luck with your beginning, I am also starting up (again), so I will be watching this thread to find some good improvement advice as well.

^^^Another headscratcher in professional sports. I stand by my previous post and think that pro events definitely should be played on the north course.
