  1. Heya everyone Now that my final year of High School Golf has begun, I want a place to keep a log of my successes and defeats. This seems like a fun place to do it. First Tournament- August 13th, 2009- Schneiders Bluff- Par 72 Came out of the gates with a +4 76 on the first tournament of the season. Placed second overall for both the team and the tournament. I felt like I was striking solid and putting well. Details are a bit blurry on this one. Second Tournament- August 20th, 2009- Park City Muni- Par 72 I've never played our home tournament well, and this was no exception. In fact, this was the worst I've ever played this course this entire season. I shot a 89 and felt like I wasn't even playing golf at sometimes. This round warranted a therapy lesson with my coach and we worked out some of the mental wrinkles regarding my game. Good thing you get to drop one score in the race for the region medalist. Third Tournament- August 27th, 2009- Roosevelt Golf Course- Par 72 The polar opposite of my last tournament. I dabbled with some of the mental advice my coach gave me and it worked! I shot 70 with 4 birdies, 4 bogies, and an eagle. I was even on the par 4s, -4 on the par 5s, and +2 on the par 3s. I couldn't find a huge flaw in my game in this round. This round also propelled me into first place in region. And that's where it stands so far. The fourth tournament is this coming Thursday at Carbon CC. I played there today and shot a 70 so I'm hoping I can repeat that performance at the tournament. Thanks for reading and wish me luck!
  2. I shot a 70 today. -1 on par 5s, -2 on par 3s, and +1 on par 4s. Considering that's where the next high school tournament is, I'm excited about my performance.
  3. I've neglected updating my Handicap for a while, as well. Last time I checked it was a 6 but I'm sure its gone down, considering that I've been shooting consistantly even for this summer.
  4. 75 today at Soldier Hollow Silver, where the Junior Amateur Qualifying has been held and where State (Utah) has been held two years in a row. Currently standing in T-2nd Place in a qualifying tournament for the PGA Junior Championship. Wish me luck!
  5. I've played lots of great course, just to name a few. Pebble Beach South Wolf Creek Glenwild Promontory Tuhaye Pebble Beach North Trump National And thats just to name a few...
  6. We leave that to Garcia, eh? This is wierd because I was just talking about this with my family. It ends up that Woods recieved his surgery right here in Park City, Utah. My hometown and current place of residency. Its really great to hear that Tiger did all of that stuff to Immelman. A really classy guy.
  7. Even though its mid season for most of you lucky guys out there, its still very much a winter wonder land here in Utah. With upwards of four feet of snow, I'm sipping some hot chocolate and curling under the fire place while I type this. Any who, lets get on with it. These are in order, mind you #1 Stop taking it so seriously. I have to remember that all we are attempting (and usually, utterly failing at) is to get a stupid white ball into a stupid little cup. I can't afford to continue to make myself look like a jack ass in front of everybody. I must stop pounding my clubs into the ground if I have a bad shot, stop swearing, and just settle down and have fun. #2 Continue to get better. This means practice, practice and more practice. Though I am at the top of my game, I still need to make more progress towards my handicap and my game. #3 Letter on the golf team and win state. I need to prepare myself both physically and mentally for the rigors that lie ahead. I need to start early and continue practicing until the job is done.
  8. Competely agree with ya Fro. I go ball hunting on occassion and find tons of great balls. I live on a golf course and have found as many as fifty Pro-V1s. Another great bet is eBay. There are tons of bulk deals on golf balls there.
  9. Lot of catching up to do. We still have ~5 feet of snow here in Utah but I was able to skip out to St. George. Sunbrook GC: 82 First time out in a while. I split 40/42 and was very proud Coral Canyon: 77 This was the apex of my game in St. George. Split was 40/37 The Ledges: 85 I struck my irons well and my drivers were great (The D2 is absolutely amazing) its just this this course is so bloody hard! Split 42/43 It was a fun vacation. Next golf trip is to the US Open!
  10. Wow, can you say topic necromancy? I mean this thread has been down for almost a year and I have had my Daytona for a while now. You should never, ever, resurrect a topic unless you have good reason to.
  11. Was American Gangster on anybody's list? That was for sure on my Top Ten, if not number one.
  12. Most possibly the last time out for the season but I went out with a bang. Even for nine holes. There's snow in the forecast for the next five days. Not that I'm complaining.
  13. Titleist for many reasons Vokeys are some of the best wedges out there. Their Irons are just plain MONEY. The D2 is an awesome driver. No one even comes close to their Pro V1s and x's. And their hybrids are great. Lol, Wilson has 0 votes.
  14. The FT-5 is my favorite of the two. Its long and straight but I still prefer the D2 over both of them ;)
  15. Its more than just an offseason. Theres snow on the ground for upwards of seven months... Good for skiing but not golf.
  16. So the 2007 golf season is over and our team finished with a heartbreaking second place at state, only 2 strokes behind first. We absolutely killed everyone else in or region by a whooping 98 strokes but failed to finish when it counted most. Anyways back on subject... I am posting this due to the reactions of one of my teammates who is a senior. The absolute dejection. I never want to be in that spot which is why I want to design a workout and practice routine that will help my game and, in essence my team. Which is where you come in. How do you get better in the off season when there is snow on the ground? Physical strength and mental. Any ideas?
  17. I always forget to post in this thread! Been playing well this past two weeks, with a 39 on friday, 41 on saturday, 37 on sunday and a 41 during tryouts this week. Highlight: Shooting 76 at the HS tournament. It was a great round, would've been better if the greens were rolling half way decent. Had atleast 5 lip out birdies and one lip out eagle. Still, I'm not complaining. Oh, and we won our region by 97 strokes. A new high school record!
  18. Thanks, Everardo, I'll keep that in mind.
  19. No, its not just that. Its...well I don't want to get off on another rant so please don't ask what else he's done.
  20. Thanks guys and I'm sorry about some of the rash comments that I made. I'm going in tommorow to ask the coaches some things (also, my date to homecomming!) and hopefully that will resolve some things. Now that I have calmed down (I was pretty pissed last night. Ok really pissed) I can reflect and now I know that I made a mistake and should have taken a more respectable course of action. Thanks alot.
  21. Cool, I'm thinking of getting this one on eBay. Does it look good to you?
  22. OK, so there is a HUGE problem with our golf team this year. Our coaches are complete idiots who play who they like and not who deserves it. There is one person who is a complete dick to every one on the team, even the upperclassmen and I am getting screwed at every corner. First of all, our coaches. Last week they played a person who they promised a spot instead of me, who really earned it. It turns out that the person who they played shot a 91 and I shot a 78. When I went to the coaches, they were like, "Good job. I knew we should of played you". Its like duh but you didn't so it really doesn't make a difference. And now, this week I shot two worse as the person who is playing number 6 and I didn't even make varsity. I asked the coaches for their reasoning and they just told me to 'stay strong'. Please also note that these bozos are not actually skilled in golfing. They are a history teacher and a Spanish teacher. Oh and they SUCK at golf. Ok, now my rant on this total dick. He is the one who is playing number 6 next tournament. Kids who have played with him say that he is a complete cheater. He improves his lie in the rough and shaves shots when his holds the scorecard. He also laughs at other people when they three putt, hit bad shots, etc. He used to be my best friend until I found out that he was telling all of my close friends that he was ten times better at golf than me when even his coach tells me that I am better. What should I do? Is it appropriate to punch him out? Oh and his name is Jack Burrus just in case anyone wants to send a hitman to kill him.... I *really* need some help guys.
  23. 42 today at Jermey.
  24. Miche, you've got me by one day! Born May 10, 1992. 15 now, 16 on May 10
  25. BUMP Anyone?
