Whose PGA Tour Player's Swing You Like the Most?
23Rounder replied to ronaldkuntoro's topic in Instruction and Playing Tips
Fred Couples Aaron Baddeley -
Sign me up. Slow play is my pet hate. I think anyone joining a golf course should have to attend sessions on golfing etiquette and pace of play. The absolute basics like reading putts while waiting and leaving buggies on the correct side of the green seem to be things that bewilder the groups in front of me every week.

I find if I practice without one I get blisters, so I have to play with one to keep the feel the same. However I take it off for short chips and putting as I like to have more feel.

I could not stand looking over a club like that. How can you possibly play with it? -
I have hit an FT- i at a demo day and I must admit that it was very straight even if not that long. I just can't justify the price at the moment. They are $800 in Australia and I normally buy my clubs 2nd hand

If you are looking for something that feel a bit soft particularly when putting, is long and doesn't scuff up much then I don't think you can go past the precept laddie extreme for the price. The Srixon AD333 is also very similar.

I enjoy playing alone when I want to practice a few things. I never score though and generally play a few balls or try the same shot again if I think I may have taken the wrong option. I only wish I had more time to play practice rounds!!

I tried them out today at the PGA Golf Show on the Gold Coast. The Irons felt nice but they have a slightly thicker sole than the G5 which I don't personally like the look of. I plan on sticking with my Eye2+'s but the G10 Driver looked great after testing it today head to head with the rapture I think I need to save up and buy one. The fairway woods were great to hit as well and are not to large which I think is a problem with many current titanium fairway woods. I should also add that the i10's looked great but I didn't get to try them out

I love wine (mostly only drink Australian wine) and the great thing is that there are a lot of nice golf courses set amongst the wine regions in Australia.

I bought my launcher 13 degree fairway wood without hitting it and I was only in the golf shop to restock on tees and balls. It is now my favorite club and led to me buying my launcher 17 degree fairway and launcher 400 driver 2nd hand which I am also happy with. I also bought a Vokey SM.60.04 2nd hand off ebay (obviously without having hit it) but I read a lot of reviews and tried some friends clubs and eventually found the loft/bounce config that I wanted. I would always prefer to hit the clubs first but if you are in the 2nd hand market like me you often don't have the chance.

How Much are your Balls Worth?
23Rounder replied to iacas's topic in Balls, Carts/Bags, Apparel, Gear, Etc.
I am now hitting the ball a lot more consistently than a year or so back and have started to use the Srixon ZUR-S and are a great ball and helping me improve further. If I want to use a cheaper ball I cannot go past the Precept Laddie Extreme. They are long and straight (Not quite as long at the Z-URS but straighter on a miss hit) and still feel soft around the green and are dirt cheap at the moment. -
2 more shots to lose off my handicap and I will make it! (Have lost 5 already this year)

1. Greg Norman - Obviously way past his best but being Australian I cannot leave him out. He is the reason I watched golf on TV growing up and I still don't think any golfer is better to watch when he is in form and in an attacking mood. 2. Fred Couples - Once again a bit from the past but amazing ball striker and while I obviously don't know him he comes across as a complete gentleman. 3. Adam Scott - I think he has underachieved so far in his career but has an amazing swing and is a gentleman (and of course an Aussie). I can't wait to watch him for the next decade. 4. John Daly - Freakishly talented but obviously very damaged. He is just so interesting and always fun to watch

I used to have 2 hybrids in my bag (3 and 4 iron replacements) and they were ruining my game. I got rid of them and have not looked back. I find that I have so many more options with my 3-iron. eg. punch shots etc, low draw of the back foot which hybrids didn't allow me to do. (I am open to the fact that it was possibly me more than the club!) I have also never had trouble hitting the ball high so I simply don't see the point of them.

Probably around 350 Yards. Long Par5 that is strongly downhill after about 280 yards so the last 70 was all roll
-
Forest courses for me. I won't deny that this could be something to do with the the fact that I hit the ball high and don't handle wind well and need the tree protection!! Bonville is the best looking course I have ever played. If you are ever in Coffs Harbour Australia it is well worth the visit

I have only walked off once, I teed off in the comp early one Saturday morning and for some reason it was the slowest round I have ever played. We had been playing for around 5 hours and was only half way through the 13th hole. (Average Saturday comp at this course is only 4hrs 15 mins with time for a beer at halfway). I was playing cricket in the afternoon (I suspect most of the readers on the sand trap don't even no what this is!) so I had to leave to make it in time. The rest of my playing partners seriously considered walking off as well.
-
The four I usually play in throws up balls on the first tee to decide teams and then plays a points comp. 1 point for birdies, 1 point for sand saves and 1 point for winning the hole (outright only and no jackpoting). Losing team shouts the beers after the round.

Cleveland Launcher for me. I have a tendency to hit the ball high so I use 8.5 degrees Launcher 400. I used to use Taylor Made but I started to get really pissed off with new models continually coming out and making my existing club worthless on a trade it. I now have a rule to only buy 2nd hand drivers as most of manufacturers seem to release a new model every year without really changing much of the technology

I was playing my regular Saturday comp about 8 years ago and one of my playing partners was the current club champion playing off +1. After having a double-bogey on the par 3 12th he was not in a good mood and absolutely unleashed on his drive on the 13th a 490m par 5 (535 yards). The ball just seemed to stay in the air and then when it hit the ground kept bouncing and bouncing. He finished next to a 120m marker so his drive went 370m (405 yards). To add to the story he then hit a wedge to 5 feet, missed the eagle putt and was so upset he snapped his putter, threw his ball into the lake and walked off the course!! Personally I would be very happy with a tap in birdie putt any time of the day!!

Which Configuration? 4-SW or 3-PW?
23Rounder replied to PJStyles's topic in Clubs, Grips, Shafts, Fitting
Definately 3-PW for me I had a hybrid for 6 months before giving it to my wife. Could not stop hooking it and now have a 3 iron back in the bag and can hit it low, long and straight almost every time. -
I had been unhappy with my clubs for ages and about 6 months ago bought a used set of BeCu Eye2+'s (3-SW) and haven't looked back. They were not properly custom fit but I completed the PING online Web-Fit and found a set that where the recommended dot color for me. They are obviously old clubs but are still in great nick and having lost 3 shots of my handicap since my purchase I don't plan on changing for a long time.
