  1. I really couldn't believe that Gerry landed that ball in the water. I think that the three best players are left. I would have liked to see James in the final three instead of Brian but Brian is a very solid player. The final two shows should be great. I with RussianCarl, I want to see Josh and Hiroshi head to head in the final.
  2. I try to play once a week but I work a lot of hours so it's kind of hard to find time to get to the course to play even 9 holes. I'm still able to hit the driving range at least two times a week though.
  3. I can't believe Gerry beat out Kevin. I wanted Gerry to go home so bad last night. Kevin definately deserves to still be there instead of him.
  4. I'm with Norm66. I use to have a great short game but my long game has really come along here recently. I'm much more comfident with my driver and longer irons than with my putter, wedges and short irons. My biggest problem is distance control. I have a real hard time figuring out which club to choose and how to hit it.
  5. I was amazed by some of the distances they were pulling off. There is no way I could hit a 3 iron 270+. I only drive 230 - 240 on a good day. Altitude does play a big part in the way the ball carries. That's why they hold the Home Run Durby in the Rockies stadium so the ball will carry further.
  6. That was a hard elimination for me. I really didn't want any of those guys to go home. I'm definately favoring Kevin though. He always just seems happy to be there. Plus, he has been in all of the elimination challenges and somehow squirms his way out of them. It would be great if the final two were Hiroshi and James though. I think those two definately out class the rest of the field.
  7. SC in the house!!!! Welcome
  8. I've got to go out to Sam's Club this afternoon so I am going to check out what they have. I've actually decided to start bowling again so this is not as big of a priority but I still would like to get one. It would be nice to have one set up in the back yard.
  9. Oh boy, I do. I could definately see him crying.
  10. Did anybody else pick up that he was going to go home way before the show was over? My wife and I were watching it and everytime that they interviewed him his eyes were really red like he had been crying. I just kind of figured that he might have been crying since he got eliminated.
  11. I just got a Cleveland 588 60* satin black wedge and I am very pleased with it. I don't use expensive balls because they seem to be drawn towards the trees but I love that club. Definately my favorite club in the bag.
  12. Same here, I practice my fairway woods off the deck a lot so I never really had a reason to go with a hybrid. I just don't like the feel and the look of a hybrid when I address the ball. The whole club just throws me off. BTW, BaronV those fires out there haven't effected you have they? I work at a bank and we have a tv in our lobby and that has been all over the news lately.
  13. I would guess the same way. He seems to have very little tolerance for mistakes and I am sure that he just blows up at every situation that doesn't go his way. That was a great twist on the show and I was hoping that he would go home as soon as they announced the teams were going to split.
  14. Paragraphs please Way to much to try to read. It started to hurt my eyes. So, it's perfectly fine to tee up again after driving out of bounds? I always thought that you had to hit it off the deck if you drove out of bounds.
  15. Oh man, that was great. I'm glad to see him go. He is just rediculous throwing everything all over the course.
  16. Yeah, I already purchased that one and I couldn't handle it falling down. I ended up returning it. I wish that I could put it in my garage but the garage is not tall enough to let me swing. Mine is going to have to go outside. I have thought about trying to build one but I haven't had the time to go price the parts it would take to make it. I am fairly confident that I could do it but I don't know where I would get the netting from.
  17. Does anyone know where I can get one that doesn't fall down after a hard shot from a driver? I really don't want to buy a 150 Callaway net just to find out it does the same thing as a cheap 30 dollar one from Target. I really just want to work on my ball striking. Making sure that I keep my head down and my tempo correct. I work a lot of hours and being able to just step out in the back yard and practice would be so much easier then trying to rush after work before the range closes.
  18. Brookland Cayce Cayce, SC Class of 2001
  19. My favorite was actually a birdie. It's a par 5 dog leg left. I'm playing by myself and these two guys in front of me drive and then let me play through. I hit a really pretty draw (by complete acident) and it ends up in the middle of the fairway. I pull out a 4 iron and hit what I thought was a good shot but ended up far left behind the cart path but still in bounds. I walk over there to find my ball and a huge cottonmouth scared the crap out of me so I was a little shaky on the next shot. Took out a PW and hit it over the green into a bunker. Same club, hit a nice shot out of the bunker and it just rolled down into the cup for a birdie.
  20. It just depends on what you are comfortable with. I have a 3IH in my bag and I hate it. I had rather hit my 4I then pull that club out of the bag. I just feel more comfortable with an iron since I've spent so much time practicing them.
  21. This is the first year that I have watch Big Break but I don't really like the guy. He just seems like a typical show host. He could be the next guy hosting Survivor, Fear Factor or The Price is Right. Nothing strikes me about him that he should be on TGC hosting anything to do with golf. I would love to know what his handicap is.
  22. What's grappling? Is it kind of like wrestling?
  23. I agree with Lemay. You are trying way to hard. Just go out and have fun, that is probably what your brother did on the 77 he shot. I'm not a great golfer but if I really try hard and worry about my score I usually shoot in the high 90s but if I just go out and have fun and try to relax then I am in the low 90s or upper 80s. Golf is way more of a mental game then a physical game. Find the clubs you like, work on your swing but most importantly get your mind straight before you go play a round. It sounds like you are way to wound up on golf. I'll fight Nassau over them.
  24. Hydrochloric/Muriatic acid should eat through the chrome without harming the metal. Not for sure where you would be able to pick any of that up though. Muriatic acid is used in a process called pickling which is a surfacing treatment they do to remove rust from iron. The acid shouldn't be able to eat through the metal of the club but it should take the chrome off. I would even try using a deluted solution first and increased the strength if it is not working.
  25. I'm forntuate enough to have a range close that is grass and most of the people that practice there are avid golfers. It's just a crappy range with a rusty car and a couple of markers out there but he does keep the box grass very well kept. It's cheap and the owner is really committed to keeping his customers happy. If we do ge some people out there making noise it doesn't bother me. I'm usually so focused on trying to fix something that I don't even notice. I've never thought about the iPod thing though. Thats a great idea. I actually use a Palm Pilot with an SD card to listen to music so it is a little large to use on the range I believe.
