  2. Interesting take on the "grab bag" that other sites have run. I haven't seen it outline exactly what the winning prizes will be in other such promotions. Given it outlines you'll receive at least one of the items displayed there's some built in comfort. Also, there have only been 15 or so purchased at this point. The likelihood of winning the driver or some other featured item is quite high at this point. Great odds...
  3. I player with two gloves when I was younger. I've found that a couple of weeks playing will quickly fix any issues I'm having. If you're experiencing issues after two or three weeks there's probably a deeper problem you should investigate (swing, grip, etc.).
  4. This is great. I bet you could dig out some great balls from that lake!
  5. I'm in California and from what I've seen the majority of the courses throughout the general Los Angeles area are doing okay . My guess is you would see a direct correlation between financially impacted geographies and their corresponding courses. Let's be honest, golf isnt' a cheap sport and it makes sense that people wouldn't be playing to the same extent that they were when time where good. That being said, I haven't seen a huge impact here in LA.
  6. I agree that the gaps in playing have been my biggest regret. Not only has it limited my game, but to some extent, getting out on the course allows me to release an energy I can't at home or work.
  7. One thing to keep in mind is that there are a variety of deals you can find that will greatly reduce the cost of a fitting. Generally speaking, I've found simply asking for a reduction is useful. The economy isn't great at the moment and golf courses and shops are experiencing it. You should certainly take advantage of potential reduced prices by asking!
  8. I had an all around horrific year of play! The saddest part of all is that I wasn't able to make it out enough to get in the requisite playing time. I'm looking forward to dividing my time a bit better next year.
  9. As I'm sure others have experienced, both poor golfers and premier players can have equally slow playing habits. I've played with poor golfers who take hours hitting ball after ball 50 - 100 yards, but I've also spent massive amount of time waiting for premier golfers to calculate yardage, etc. It goes both ways.
  10. Well...I'm in California and can play all 365. That said, I'll be visiting my hometown next week and I'm hoping to squeeze in a round. Given it's Michigan, I'm guessing it'll be my last Midwest round of the year!
  11. I've always played Odessey. My short game is the best piece of my game by far, so abandoning my putter if the last thing on my mind!
  12. I would love to complain about the playing conditions here in Southern California, but a comparison to my hometown in Michigan makes it easy to see why we have it so great here in CA! Even on a chilly day I can throw on a sweater and play a quick round. No complaints!
  13. Hi Par 40, I'm in Southern California as well. Glad to hear you're getting settled. I've been here for just over two years. Would love to play a round sometime. Have you ever played over at Lost Canyons in Simi Valley?
