  1. 83 at Birkdale Golf Club, great success!
  2. Not really small but my nike vr driver (tour edition maybe?) is 420 cc, but it looks much smaller than many of the 460 cc drivers out there.
  3. 82 at Highland Creek Golf Club. Easily my best score by 3 shots, it was a funny feeling though because my swing was pretty poor today. However I did go pin hunting on a few holes and draining long putts for par definitely helped. 40 on the front 42 on the back!
  4. 41 on the same front nine of Tradition. Birdies on 5 and 6! Swing is really coming around, still had one double though...
  5. Shot a 40 today on the front nine of Tradition Golf Club. 6 pars, 2 bogies, and one effin double. If I can go one whole round this year without a double I can die happy I think. My ball striking with the irons was spot on today, it's getting much much better. Hopefully I can put two good nines together, I know I have an 80 in me!
  6. OP brings up good points, I don't understand why everyone is jumping down your throat. Playing with less clubs forces you to get creative, and create shots. Not just make the same full swing every time you stand over the ball. That's not to say one doesn't use touch when the play with 14 clubs, but be honest with yourself, how often have you tried to chase a 5 iron from 140 rather than have a full swing with your 8 iron? How many clubs do junior beginner sets come with, 6 clubs, 8? I started the game only playing with 6 clubs for 6 months, and I didn't have a complete set until a year later. Now I don't play often with less than 14, but when I have it's an enjoyable experience and good practice. In short, I agree with the fact that many people, especially beginners, would benefit from playing with less clubs. However changing the rules of golf is unnecessary. On a related but slightly tangental note, this guy makes a good case for using less clubs: Skip to 2:20 if you want to hear him talk about playing with less clubs.
  7. Should mention I'm pulling half my shots, and my driver/3w has turned into an ugly pull slice when I really mishit it. If not its usually pull fade or straight fade.
  8. Got my 'new' camera the other day. Purchased a used Kodak Zi6 from ebay for ~$60 (not including shipping). Got out to the range yesterday before the round to get some test footage! Hopefully this is an improvement over my old camera. Here is 720p with 60 fps in all its glory. 6 iron side and front view: I also pulled out some stills from both swings: Take away too inside and club face way too shut? Still need to get my arms down quicker via advice from iacas. I think my footwork looks better at the very least. Next step, sign up for evolvr!
  9. Your handicap is a measure of your potential. I don't remember the percentage I read but you will only play to you handicap let's say 10% of the time. My handicap is hovering around 15, but I usually shoot 90-95, with a handful of scores lower than that this year. It is not an average of all your scores. So most of the time you will not play to your handicap. One source: http://golf.about.com/cs/golfterms/g/bldef_handicap.htm
  10. +1 for evolvr, hoping to sign up sometime this week. The advice I've received via member swings has already helped tremendously. These guys know their stuff.
  11. I'm definitely no expert and I'll let the pros weigh in on this but what I notice right off the bat is that your swing is 'all arms', and you hang back on your right side on the downswing and follow through.
  12. That was sort of my line of thinking as I posted the question, naturally it does make sense! Just looking for some reaffirmation.
  13. Shot an 85 today, best score I've had thus far. Definitely best ball striking day for my irons and wedges. Two drives in the woods cost me two triple bogeys, other than that I had 7 bogeys and 9 pars. Not to shabby! Hope to keep posting more scores in this range. Btw any feedback on the above where I asked about the spine angle at rest with the driver?

  15. So I've pretty much phased out anything my old instructor taught me as I've recognized him as the type to avoid (based off the thread here about how to recognize a poor instructor, e.g. advising me to roll my wrists to square the club face and among other things telling me to have my weight behind the ball at impact!). I did this maybe two months ago since I started receiving advice here (still working on subscribing to golf evolution, need to find a better camera on the cheap). My point is that I'm still using one piece of his advice, which was to stand up more (decrease spine angle at rest relative to the ground) with the driver and fairway woods. It makes to sense because it should help deliver the club on a more shallow swing plane, which is better for woods, correct? What is your all opinions' on that, is this advisable or natural to do (because the shaft length increases) or should I focus on having the same spin angle at rest with all my clubs. It hasn't been brought up in prior videos so I'm not sure if the change is noticeable.
  16. Where do you live? I just played in the same miserable weather in Charlotte but it didn't go nearly as well for me. I use the footjoy wintersoft gloves when it's really cold and they work great. I find I'm still able to control the club well even with them both on. Or if you prefer you can just wear them between shots.
  17. Thanks Erik for making that video, that helped clear up what you were talking about. I'll be working on that and hopefully posting some improvements down the line. And to westcyderydin, I keep experimenting with my pre-shot routine. I just recently started doing the above b/c I thought it helped me line the club face up better to the target. Before just did as you describe, I would step up with both hands, waggle a bit, and then hit my shot (after 2 practice swings). But if it's throwing my alignment off I may have reconsider.
  18. I just started using oobgolf.com. It's free and easy to use, you can keep track of several stats not just your total score, if you so desire. It keeps your regular handicap index and also your course handicap if you have a home course. They have a database of courses that you can search through for yours. Check it out!
  19. Had a little delay in being able to get out and film my swing. Been focusing on keeping my head steady and not letting it go down and forward on the back swing. Think I've improved on that point in these videos. Still trying to bring the arms down quicker, is there a drill to work on that feeling? I notice I don't maintain much lag on the downswing, perhaps this could help with that. 6 iron side view: 6 iron front view:
  20. Quote: Not if we lock the thread. That should've happened from the get go. Not to mention the 'Path to the Tour' debacle. I guess we need a little comic relief every once in awhile .
  21. Paragraphs are always nice. Were you looking to actually talk about R11 irons vs CB irons or did you just want to rant and continue spreading misinformation?
  22. Ok I just read the post. Shall I refer to your method as the 5SK? Seems interesting, I look forward to seeing more about it. In regards to my swing, would you say this latest iteration is an improvement, worse, or just different and not really progressive. Thanks
  23. Ok I think I understand, less body rotation on the down swing. However I thought that S&T; taught let the bigger muscles do the most work, such as the core and shoulders, wouldn't chopping my arms make them too active? Anyway, should my main two focuses be on keeping my head centered and moving my arms down more quickly?
  24. Check and check. Thanks for the response. Do you know what video I'm talking about? I believe you posted it awhile ago. I went into more detail before accidentally deleting my first post but it helped me gain a sense of purpose on the back swing where previously I had lost all feeling. So for the side view, less exaggerated practice swings, and keep the head more stable so I'm not tempted to back up on the down swing. I'm confused on what you mean by my arms not getting down very quickly. What is the optimal secondary axis tilt at that position? Thanks
  25. Also why the hell are my golf shoes so squeaky?!
