Im sure i would have done the same...although it would have been trippled the first to not even have a chance. That is a huge difference between pro's and am's. They dont screw up like that for the most part, and are usually able to recover a little better...mental mental mental

Good Call. Does suck, but im sure other people have bigger things to worry about in Hawaii than shooting 85-87 in a golf tournament lots of people would love to play in. That being said, i do appreciate the post by Ben. Keep 'em comin!

That is so hypothetical and illogical its ridiclous. Tiger clearly has natural talent, anybody who does what he was done, has a lot of Talent. I never once mention Tiger had talent because he worked hard. I actually said " To me, Talent is getting the ball in the hole in the least amount strokes possible." Which is something that Tiger does (or used to do) all too often. Where John Daly excelled in getting the Big Mac in his mouth in the least amount of seconds possible. If anybody is going to be as successful as Tiger is, they are sure as hell gonna have to put in as much work as he did. Sure he works on his game non-stop, but that doesn't make him untalented. Is Vijay untalented and just a hard worker because he spends more time on the range than anyone? No? If you can remeber over the last 10 years Tiger and Vijay were going back and forth for the money title and world #1 title. I think its a little more than just a coincidence that they both worked so hard on their games and were both very successful, but this doenst mean they both dont have talent. Of course John Daly could work on his game way more than he does, but you cant say, becasue he doesnt, and because he has a major 15 years ago that he has more talent than Tiger. And what do you mean Daly can get away with it? He is bouncing around from sponsers exemption to sponsers exemption and missing cuts to missing cuts. He doesnt get away with a thing. Thats why he had some crazy surgery so he wouldn't die of obiesity

I actually couldn't read all the above comments, too long and not enough time on my hands. I dont really know why you would try to do this, but thats irrelevant at this point. Even if you never get an exact duplicate of Hogan's swing, at least you will be practicing a lot and probably get better in the end.

I totally agree, winning under pressure is a very big part of golf. Because as we all know golf is 90% mental and the other 10% is mental. To be the best, you have to beat the best in the most pressure situations, which are majors. I think she will too....

lol, Im from Toronto hahha. I was just joking buddy, all i was getting at is that i enjoy watching the PGA way more than LPGA...don't read too much into it
-
I agree that she could be the greatest ever if you are referring to her respective, LPGA, sport. I think Tiger could beat her though....but But in terms of respective leagues, defiently could happen, those numbers are incredible. Wouldnt suprise me one bit. But in the end of the day......Who really cares about the LPGA (please dont get affended by this) more of a joke than anything...but still true lol

HOGANS SECRET "CHAIN ACTION"
Tiger90 replied to Steve Ratcliffe's topic in Instruction and Playing Tips
All Ben Hogan is saying is, "hit down on the ball". He just didn't know it yet, becasue i guess when that video was filmed, maybe they didn't use the term hitting down on the ball. All that "pivot" movement is, is clearing your hips so you can hit down on the ball. Which IS the only thing agreed among all golf instructors, is that at impact you must hit down on the ball. The Grip, posture and other things have been argued and specualted among many critics and have been proven right and wrong for different golfers. But like I said, the only common agreement, is that at impact hit down, and to hit down on the ball you must clear your hips by making this "pivot" movement. That being said, it is obviously a very important aspect of the golf swing and if you are not doing it, you better start, because odds are you are not the greatest ball striker at the moment, and doing this simple movement will increase your ball striking ability and create a way more consistant golf shot. The more you clear your hips and also turn your shoulders, the more power you'll get. Most golfers cannot turn their shoulers or hips as much as they should/could. And to increase this turn, you have to increase your flexibiltiy. So i suggest to look up some stretches and/or workouts to do to improve this. -
To me, Talent is getting the ball in the hole in the least amount of strokes possibe. It doesnt matte if you are luke donald and sink every putt, or Seve and make birdie from 3 holes over. Tiger has been the best ive ever seen (never saw jack, arnie or seve play) at getting the ball in the hole. He may not drive the ball well, but he sank any putt he needed to, and made some miraculous recovery shots no one could have imagined possible. Tiger has raw golf talent that has since to be matched. BUT, Rory has not had the chance to do so, he may not have won the masters by 12 strokes his first year, which i think gives Tiger a lot of points in the talent category, but he may make up for it in some other way. I Think we just need to wait and see what happens with Rory...im certainly excited to find out ANd.....on a side not, iacas, how do you say "John Daly has more talent on his pinkie, that Tiger does in his hole body" This just confuses me and makes me laugh very hard, i dont understand...please elaborate

Ball Flight Laws, PGA of America and Dr. Gary Wiren
Tiger90 replied to mvmac's topic in Instruction and Playing Tips
That is the video i was talking about and it doesnt prove anything, all it does is show two guys talking about what they believe to be right and wrong. And the test they do for these laws are with machines, and like jointhejoiner said, the angle of attack affects the ball flight also, so how can that machine be the judgement of what all golfers swing angle is. I dont know what all those that HSP, or dplane is, but i do know how to hit a draw and fade, and i know what i do and dont do. So it really doesnt matter what you or these machines tell us. I would really like you to go to the range ASAP, bring a video camera, and try to hit a draw, by swinging on an inside to out swing path with an open club face. You are a scratch golfer and should be able to do that no problem, i mean, you have physics on your side. I am very curious to see if you dont hit a push slice and nail a car driving on the road Please test this out, you should have nothing to be afraid of.......Go ahead. I'll wait :-) -
I had 5 birdies on the front 9 this year And, I've had 7 birdies in one round.......some how both of these rounds did not end up under par....

I forgot to put my best score lol, Best Score: 70 (1 under) - would like to shoot 68 this summer

Age: 21, Height: 5 ft. 9 Where are you from: Toronto How Long have you been playing: since i can remember, but have had a membership for 9 years and played lots since Favourite club in the bag: 3 wood Golf Books/ DVD's: Golf Digest if that counts, always exicted to see it in the mailbox Where do you play: Meadowbrook (stoufvile, 20 min from Toronto), Ottawa for school golf, and Florida every reading week Best Courses: Grand Cypress (FL), Taboo (ON), Angus Glen (ON), Whistle Bear (ON), Cutten Club (ON), Cataraqui (ON), Banff Springs (AB), Stewart Creek (AB).....but i have lots more to come! Things you enjoy most about golf: The competition with myself, constantly trying to better myself, taking those risky shots 220 into protected pins or par 5's over water. Having competition and beers with the boys is the best part of golf by far though, nothing beats a 2 on 2 match play on a beautiful sunny day.. Goals for 2011: Consistency within my drives, improve my mental game, dont become discouraged about bad shots, instead think about getting up and down for par. And to win my club championship most importantly, ive had the lead after the first round these last 2 years, and shitty second rounds cost me both tournaments

Fixing the golf hole with your hand or finger(s)?
Tiger90 replied to Beachcomber's topic in Rules of Golf
By touching the green you can see which way the grain is going, or just get a better feel for the green. It really all depends on your intentions in the end. But the reason you can do this or fix the hole after you put out, is because you no longer have to putt on THIS specific green and the feel may be different on other greens. So i guess by feeling this green, it doesnt really help you on the other greens (even though they should all be the same). But yeah, the reason is because you are done with that green and it shouldnt really help you later on. And like Ignorant said, if your intention is to hurt the other players putt, then you will get a penalty stroke, but if there is a bump on the hole, and you fix it after you putt out, thats fine. Im sure your playing partner wont complain. And a lot of the time, if you putt out and there is a bump, the other player will ask you to fix the hole, because they still have to put and cannot touch the hole. You dont have to fix it if you dont want to, altough that would not be such a nice thing to do lol. Side note, you can fix any ball mark on the green as long as it is deemed a ball mark by you or somebody else. But you cannot fix spike marks! -
YEAH Tebow! Although he did cost me my proline, I needed Denver by 4!

Hey everyone, Just procrastinating from studying for finals, and I'm just trying to get a feel for the members here, the age, golf type, and when you why you come on this site and talk golf. What style of golfer are you? High, mid low handicap, Long ball, or money putter? Agressive Pin seeker or risk-averse? Do you come on in your free time, when your at work, school or like me usually when i am trying to study. I am, Low handicap, more of a long ball if anything and i love to be aggressive and pretty much go at every pin if im not in a tournament. I do not have anymore fun in golf than when i get to pin-seek, thats the best feeling in golf i think.

I dont think you can change the shaft in the R11, because you can change the loft by moving the shaft, So it would have to be a "personalized new shaft" i think. But if i can do that, it is a great idea. Changing the shaft would definetly change the feel, i have the VS prototype in my Burner, so maybe ill try that if i can. Thanks!

Here is the thing, i can hit all my clubs pretty well, but i have always had a big slice as my miss with my driver, and it always came at unpleasant times. I have the 2007 (i think) Burner TP driver, it has an open club face and causes me to fade (among other reason). SOOOO i asked for the R11 for my Bday. BUTTTTTT i was playing in a school tournament and had the swing thought of my life, TEMPO, who'd a thunk. I thought tempo and my driver responded. I was playing the North course at Angus Glen in Toronto, Ontario for a school tournament and if you miss the fairway, your in fescue and mine as well re-tee because you will not find your ball. I lost 1 ball over 2 rounds and have never hit the ball farther. I finally figured out the driver that has given me problems for the last 4 years, the driver that cost me 2 club championships and the same one i snapped the shaft over anger (dont usually do this lol, lots of frustration that day i guess). Anyways, my driver toubles are gone, BUTTT O NO, i got the R11 12 hours after that second round hahha. I have only played with it two times, and started to hit it pretty well the second round. I still need to practice with it more before i can be so confident with it. The problem is i find the R11 has no feel on the club face. No matter where you hit it, it feels perfect, which i actually dont like. Its really hard to determine your mistake when you mishit the ball. Long story short, i dont know what to do. I guess i gotta give my R11 some time and practice before i return it, but i hit that burner soooo well, and it felt amazing. I feel bad leaving that beauty of a driver to collect dust!

Not today (i live in ottawa, the last rounds were begining of november) , but my last two rounds of the year acutally ended off on a good note. I hadn't played in 3 weeks before these two because of cold weather. But i went out a shot 73-71 with a brand new R11 in my bag from my bday. Luckily it was fine to miss the fairway, but by the 2nd round i figured the R11 out and it was feeling pretty good. Very nice to finally end the year on a good note, and maybe carry that momentum into 2012. Im already dying to golf and the winter has barley started, oh no, Golf Channel HD and Golf digest here i come!

This is my opinion, watching that video, you can see your swing path going back is a little flat, if it was on plane, your club angle would be at your shoulder, instead it is a little below. SO, it looks as if you are going to hit a draw...and then the way you held your hands, it looks like your are holding your finish for a cut. So im not really sure what the flight path of your ball would be.... I would try to make your swing not so flat, and maybe rotate more through your finish. It is a lot harder to make solid contact with a flat swing, usually hit the ground first

My favorite drills for hands ahead of clubhead
Tiger90 replied to Tom's topic in Instruction and Playing Tips
I dont understand where your coming from with this...you say his drills are wrong because he cannot do them...What do you think golf coaches or caddies are for, ya donk. As a close to scratch golfer myself, i beleive those drills are great to get the feeling of hitting down on the ball.. Dont bash his drills because of what his swing looks like or what he wrote in another thread... I would like to hear why you believe the average golf does not need to try to hit down on the ball, and the only way to hit down on the ball is to clear your hips -
My favorite drills for hands ahead of clubhead
Tiger90 replied to Tom's topic in Instruction and Playing Tips
I think those drills are actually very good. I really like how he focuses on the very most important aspect of golf and that is hitting down on the ball by clearing your hips. Clearing your hips is uber important and cannot be repeated more times. clear your hips, clear your hips, clear your hips. Altough you say this feeling of a rope whipping you may feel complicated for the average golfer, i believe the opposite. In golf, when your are trying to learn something new, you always feel as if you are doing the new move, but alot of the time you are not...you gotta feel as if you are going to exaggerate this movement and you will probably do it the proper amount. Instructors are constantly asking for a foot and begging for an inch, exaggeration is key. But yes, the key is solid ball striking is hitting down on the ball...every golfer of all skills, shapes and and ages must hit down on the ball to make solid contact and have consistant ball flights. To do this, clear those hips, and try to exaggerate the feeling until you can do it without thinking about it. You will be more accurate, consistant. I suggest to try those drills.... -
and yes his leg extension in that video at the moment of impact is how you get extra power and also hit the ball solid, that is a good video
-
The backswing has the exact opposite sequence as the downswing. On the Backswing starts, the club head your hands your shoulders and arms then your hips Once you get to the top it goes, hips first (clearing the hips creates coil and creates lots of distance) then your shoulders arms hands and then the club head last (lag on the club helps hit down on the ball and make solid contact) When it comes to moving your head down on the downswing, this is actually a very good move for power. And you will see lots of long ball hitters do this, Tiger has a big dip. This dip helps you get lower to the ground, to push off of and create extra power....NOTE, DONT DO THIS ELIMINATES ACCURACY, but if you are good enough and can do this while staying over the ball and make solid contact, you will get more power. But if you have trouble driving, i dont reccomend this
