  1. If you liked X-20, you many want to try X 20 tour as well. When I tested many irons last year, I almost buy X-20 and happened to test and liked X-20 tour better, maybe it was a shaft (Project X flighted) that I like better than TT uniflex. Club is somewhat forgiving to be in tour's category, but working good for my purpose.
  2. Enjoy your new toy
  3. Was that the time frame you were told?
  4. I changed from 46PW, 52GW, 58SW to 46PW, 52GW, 56SW, 60LW Custom fitter bended 58 to 56 for me, and I added 60.
  5. Wondering why called "J".....all other hybridy has alphabetical ID? Hybrid usually has degree and/or number it meant to replace the corresponding iron.
  6. I guess 1/2 inch would be overkill, will do just 1/4 inch longer with 1 degree flat to get the same lie. Any thought?
  7. I'm getting >10 yard increase for 1/4 inch longer shaft for the same iron of the same brand. This would be enough gain for me to use one less club, helping significantly with better control/accuracy/consistency from one less club. Is there any concern of getting even 1/2 inch longer with probably 1*flat (or adjusted coreectly to compensate increased length)? Your feedback is deeply appreciated.
  8. INMHO, X20 tour plays like a plyer club with forgiveness for mis-hit that gives me a fair feedback, so probably is in between two genres.
  9. I'm about same height and think you're standing tall, holding club close to your body (ball is placed closer to you), steep angle of swing path, just I used to be like that. If that 3* adjustment works good, that's great. I have changed my swing little more flat and seems more consistance and 1* upright works for me.

    Sunglasses

Sure, a good pair of sunglasses and a hat, and a lots of sunblock!
  11. I have done that....not so good experience. I am about same height, got 1/4 inch shortened following custom fitter’s recommendation. As you said, sacrificed distance (15 yard for 1/4 in for me, ouch!) but without gaining much of accuracy for me. I was unhappy for a long time and end up getting 1/4 longer….what a great waste of money. I think swing plane is the single very important consideration for club fitting beyond simple fact such as height, distance of wrist from the floor, swing speed/tempo....as same body construct with similar swing speed and tempo may use different swing path. My swing is more upright and appreciates longer length. If you can demo same 6i in different length of shaft, try out first before huge regret.
  12. It’s your swing, not the club. Your changed swing path (seems lower) probably turned your club more upright, ball is contacting closer to heel, producing draw bias. You can check this by examining your club after every shot making, or using tape on the bottom of iron. If that's the case, you can make your club flatter.....1 degree for every 1/4 in away from the center. Weaker grip for fade and stronger grip for draw for me
  13. I agree that this year's review is not quite comprehensive, but better have something to check.... Look is obviously less important factor than playability/workability and such factors for me. But if working equally well, I would pick better looking one, so I guess it is still matter.
  14. They're looking good, but I wouldn't buy anthing unless had a chance to test, or have lots of spare money
  15. Range finder has help me better know of my club distance and managing my short game
  16. X20 is a good club for mid-high handicappers....I liked it when I tested last year. If this works for you when you tested, I would say just go for it and enjoy! Very good review and feedback from bunch of people I know using it.
  17. I think I'm using Nikon prostaff raser 440....I'm away from my bag It has been checked against golf cart GPS and fairly accurate. Within 200 yards, it's been very helpful in making confident decision, especially in not so familiar courses.
  18. Do you feel comfortable mixing two different flexes for your irons, such as longer iron with regular and short irons with stiff(er) flex? BTW, mine was custom fitted, but want to make it better....who doesn't
  19. If I'm at the border line between regular and stiff flex, which way do you recommend to go and why? Height, wrist distance from the floor, swing speed, age, a club I use for 150 yr, and my handicap were considered. Thanks for your opinion
  20. Here are what I'm carrying Driver: Taylormade Burner 10.5* regular stiff Wood: Taylormade r7 3W-15* regular stiff Hybrid: Taylormade r7 19* (replacing 3 iron) & 22* (acting 4 iron) regular stiff 4-PW: Callaway X-20 pro, project X flighted 5.5 1* flat Wedge: Callaway X-tour chrome 52*/11, 58*/11 True Temper Dynamic Gold S300 Putter: Carbite (7 years old and considering Ping Anser to replace)
  21. You're talking about the reducing gap b/w 56 and 60 by replacing 60 w/ 58 deg.......Do you have any issue b/w 52 and 56 degree?
  22. Depending on stage of development, mid-long game is equally important to work on to achieve repeatable and reliable shots. However, once you get there (I'm sure everyone will be), it becomes more important to work on short game to deal with variable situation. I practiced almost every day and broke my 100 within three months of starting golf and 90 within another one month (stable at 16 hcp). Initially worked crazy with irons and driver, then later more time with pitching. My focus, to lower the hcp, now has switched to distance/trajectory/spin control within 60-150yd to get the ball on the green and
  23. But it's good to have a chance to hear from you guys how you got there
  24. I thought about that few times before...very interesting question. This is my logical guess...I could be totally wrong though. One has a tendancy to maintain their comfort swing plane regardless of shaft length, then longer shaft will pushed the head slightly away from you, resulting upright lie. Reversly, shorter length will give you flatter lie. In that sense, I guess clubmakers are right.
