  1. I am not much older than my irons. I could see myself still using my Eye 2 +'s 30 years from now. Perhaps I should get a backup set, just in case. I have experimented with my wedges once, I have been carrying Vokey wedges for the longest time, then I got some Cleveland CG10's in the Black Pearl. They were nice, but there is just something about a rusty oil can Vokey that just feels right, so I am back to my old trusty rustys. Putters, I will keep the same one for a year or two until I decide that it has been hexed, then I will try something else. I do however keep them in case I decide the hex has been lifted, so I can switch back. BTW, I am slightly nuts.
  2. I cant keep up with JD these days. Being from Arkansas, believe me, I try, but everytime I see the guy he is wearing a new logo. He has burned a few bridges in his day, I hope he gets down to business, rebuilds a few of them, and gets his head and his heart as close to 100% into the game as he can. I have heard it from Tiger's mouth more than once that when JD has his stuff together, there are few that can keep up with him. Lets hope Butch can help uncover some of that and get him back on track.
  3. I am not sure what to make of these posts. The wind has left my sail. HA! I thought I was doing good with 25 bounces, only to realize everyone else apparently can put it through their freaking legs and bounce it off of things. Showoffs...
  4. HA! I was expecting to hear that from somebody. To my credit it was actually in the 30's today. I am a cold weather weenie, but I think 101 degrees is perfect walking weather. Go figure.
  5. I have been insanely bored since the cold weather has set in. I have been entertaining myself watching the golf channel and playing "horse" against myself bouncing a plastic ball off of different things in my apartment with a wedge. Anyway, keepy uppy... What is your best number of bounces with the old wedge? I am not terribly good at it but I can get a few over 25 bounces with an old 60 degree vokey. What can you guys do?
  6. I work part time at a driving range / par 3 course, so I can play there for free and hit as many balls as I want, but it gets old fast. I use this to justify paying for a "nice" round occasionally, but for the most part the Dallas / Ft. Worth area has a some good municipal courses and most are only between $20 - $25 to walk on weekends.
  7. If someone sold me my dad wasnt there when I was born because he was playing golf at Augusta, I think I would have to give him a high five... ...then kick him in the shin. Then help him up and hug him for making the right choice when stuck between a rock and a hard place.
  8. I came across the 3/4 swing by accident last winter. I had never really played much golf beyond October, I just dont care for cold weather, but I wanted to stay sharp throughout the winter so I made some winter trips to the driving range. I had so many layers on I could barely move, and didnt think it would go over very well, but in fact I was hitting much more consistantly because of it. My tempo slowed down, and my rotation didnt go beyond where it needed to be, along with the fact I could only get the club back around 3/4 of a turn. I kept the same swing throughout spring and summer after shedding the layers, and I couldnt be happier with it. Distance might have dropped a fraction but the accuracy I gained is absolutely worth the compromise. My fairways hit has come up quite a bit, and I have better positions to attack greens.
  9. Wow. That is the only thing I can think of to say when I try to imagine how someone could take this as far as she has. She is way out there man. I would say LIAR is more appropriate than anything, but with the given choices, CHEATER works just fine.
  10. Boston Terrier. Excellent dogs, I will have one of these little guys for the rest of my life.
  11. I have a particular hole at a muni course I play a lot that I have some sort of mental power over. It is a par 4 that measures 420 from the blue tees and I have been about 75 yards out a handful of times this year. The math on that is about 345 yards. Its purely a voodoo hex of some sort I have put on the hole and not awesome power. My average on good straight drives are around 275 yards or so.
  12. I have always found this to be an interesting topic. Forgive me if it has been thoroughly covered, I searched the forums and didnt see anything stand out. How do you mark your ball? Do you always do it the same way, in the same place? Do you draw pictures on it? I have found some creative markings throughout the years on other peoples lost balls such as initials, drawings, phrases, etc. I always make four dots and then connect them until it looks like a chemistry molecule of some sort, I try to see what different configurations I can create with the four dot / three bar pattern. Most of the time I stick with half of the formula for ethane (CH3) (the entire formula being C2H6) which is a central dot with three lines connected to three other dots. Forgive me guys, I am a nerd. Man I need to get a life.
  13. When the vendors have it in stock: Hoegaarden If they are all out: Sierra Nevada Pale Ale If it is a dive bar with limited selection: Shiner Bock (easy to find here in Texas) If it between Bud, Coors or Miller: Water
  14. I cant really say why, but I have a thing for Morgan Pressel for some reason. Is that bad?
  15. I agree that the Albatross is the more difficult of the two, but I think I would rather have an ace. Just to stand on a tee box, pull out one club, swing it, and then enjoy the "high" during your 150 or so yard walk, to me that is really something. One ball, one club, one swing... Note: I have had neither one, so I reserve the right to change my opinion later. :)
