  1. I think the OB rule should be changed to just distance. I think you should still have to replay the shot, but how many of us have it OB on a par 4, then hit a great drive and realized, crap, I've got to hole this thing just to make a par. Or, I've got to birdie it just to make a bogey. Most of us walk off the green with either double or triple. It is insane to me. Plus, it would speed up play in a lot of tournaments.
  2. I actually prefer long irons over most hybrids. I have a hard time controlling hybrids for some reason...even though I hit one in place of my 3 iron. I was thinking about switching irons all together to a combo set such as the Bridgestone J33 Combos. Or, maybe going to a more forgiving type "blade" such as the Callaway X Tours...any suggestions?
  3. Hey guys, What irons would you consider really forgiving in the long irons that have a sharp sole on it. I don't like rounded, clunky soles. I need sharp soles. My Mp-33s are getting harder to hit consistently in the long irons and I am looking to replaces those irons with something more forgiving. Thanks! Chili
  4. As Arnold Palmer says, I don't understand how you can hit a perfect drive that is straight down the middle and hits a concrete yardage marker or sprinkler head and bounces through the fairway OB and you have to come back to the tee and take a stroke penalty. Yet, someone can swing and miss the ball completely and they are now playing their second shot." OB stroke and distance has always been the stupidest rule in golf to me.
  5. The TM fairway woods are some of the most forgiving I've ever been around. The V Steel line was the most used FWY wood ever on the Pro Tour and you can get those REALLY cheap now...I carry the 18* 5 wood and may never take it out of the bag. They are not the longest woods I've ever hit, but they are probably the straightest.
  6. I think Mr. O'Hair, Olberhoser and Glover have a pretty good shot at being pretty good as well. I do like Adam Scott though. But, to throw out the name that has the sweetest swing in the book, my vote goes for Mr. Luke Donald. It makes me sick that recently I read that Maria Sharapova's top 10 dream to play tennis with is Adam Scott...and she goes on to say that she wants it to be a night match. His response, "she has poor taste in men." My response would have been, "tonight good for you?"
  7. Mostly stick to Puma, Nike and J. Lindeberg in shirts. I have several Puma and J. Lindeberg belts. For pants I stick to anything that is dri-fit usually. For shoes, I have several pairs of Eccos, 1 pair of Pumas and 1 pair of J. Lindeberg.
  8. Hey gang, My name is Jeff and I currently live in NC. I heard about this place through Golf Digest and have been a member over at Golfopinions for years. Since I love to talk golf, I figured I would join over here too. The particulars: 30 years old 1 handicap Been playing for 25 years Have my first kid on the way (a boy) Live on a course, Catawba Springs, in Hickory, NC Play about 3 times a week Heavy gambler That's about all I know. Good to be a part of the boards and look forward to talking with you guys on here! Thanks!
  9. If you like the Clevelands, look at the Callaway X Tour wedges formed by Roger Cleveland. Be warned though, the grooves will rip the face off a golf ball.
  10. Callaway X Tour Wedges in 52 degree and 58 degree with PM grind. Love the wedges...will tear the core out of a golf ball.
  11. Mizuno MP-33s. Got my old set rechromed and regrooved and put PX 5.5 shafts in them....love them!
  12. I was down at Martin's in Myrtle Beach, SC over Thanksgiving and ended up picking up a Tour Edge Exotics driver with a Grafalloy Blue shaft and Taylor Made V Steel 18* degree 5 wood for $109 and $19, respectively. I couldn't believe it!
  13. I use the Tour Edge Exotics 9 degree driver with stiff Grafalloy Blue shaft. By far the best driver I've ever hit and is 15 yards longer than my old TM 425 TP.
  14. I currently have the Titleist 904F2 with Graffaloy Blue Comp NT Stiff shaft in it and all I can say is wow. It is incredibly long, easy to hit off the deck and very controllable. I actually hit this club within 20 yards of my driver off the tee. It has a very classic shape and inspires confidence at address. The only other 3 wood that I've tried that I've liked as well is the Tour Edge Exotics CB2 3 wood. That thing is a cannon off the tee. I would decide if you are using this club from the tee or fairway more to decide on what ones you can eliminate and which ones you should consider.
