Anybody refresh / regroove older clubs?
Jeffrey71 replied to cooke119's topic in Clubs, Grips, Shafts, Fitting
I have an older set of Titleist DCI golds. I bought a regrooving tool from golfsmith for about $15-$20 and used it on all my irons. I could tell a difference on the spin and stopping. Beware though, the sharper the grooves the more it will tear up the ball cover. -
Alright this will be the 3rd time I've revised this. I think this is the final revision. 1) Play 18 holes at least twice a week 2) Practice effectively at least 3 times a week 3) Sharpen all aspects of game from tee to green 4) Become more consistent 5) Drop HC to lower single digit

Played the Hugo Golf Club - 69.2/118 Today was the first 18 holes since October 27, 2012 and I shot a 90. The front nine was ok, shot 41. Putting was pretty good. The back nine was another story, 49. My short game around the greens left the course. Off the top of my head I can remember 7-9 horribly flubbed chips that cost strokes. I was using a ball I have never used, Nike PD Soft. Someone told me to play a softer compression ball due to the colder weather. I'm gonna play tomorrow, and I will not be scared around the greens.

Had both instances happen a few times. No fun. I've thought of keeping a small book or a magazine in my golf bag. That way instead of focusing on how frustrating slow play is, I can just hit the "pause" button.

Look forward to playing tomorrow. I played 7 holes before it got too dark to see. Was doing really well, then came the "blow up" hole. My nemesis, 2 par 3's back to back. I'm not good with my long irons. Tomorrow, at the suggestion from a respected buddy who shoots under par a lot, I'm gonna leave my Driver and woods at home. I'm gonna put myself in a position to have to work these clubs out.

Stolen clubs = $0.00 Balls found on course = $0.00 Sneaking onto the golf course = $0.00 Being incarcerated for larceny and trespassing = 1 year in county and 3 years supervised probation, plus $5000 in fines..... PRICELESS !!!! (This was meant to be a joke) In this past year I've spent a little over $1000. In January of 2013 I plan to get a 1 year membership ($450). Carts not included. I'll probably spend a little more this year, but I doubt I'll exceed $2000. Unless I win some big amount of money.

The short game is the most important part of the game. -

Just swing the stupid club !!!!!! -
So I realize this is an old thread, but instead of starting a new one, and the fact that it is almost January, I'm interested to hear what is the point where you won't go play due to the temp. This morning, in SE Oklahoma, it's sunny and a brisk 24 degrees. I do plan on going to the driving range sometime today, but I don't know if I will play.I might play tomorrow. It's hard for me to muster the motivation to be out in the cold when I work in it all week. I guess some sacrificing of comfort will get my game better. In the hot temps, I don't mind playing. I drink plenty of water and if the temp is above 90, I will use a cart instead of walking (gave myself a touch of heat exhaustion this past summer walking in hot weather). All I know to do in cold weather is do some stretches before I go out and layer on the clothing.

Had a really rough day. At the course there were 3 groups of 6 and a sprinkling of guys with their wives and kids on the course. I was walking and jumped in with a guy who was "teaching" another guy (who has never played) and his 13 yr old son how to hit the ball. 3 HOURS TO PLAY 9 HOLES!!!!!!! I never thought a game I liked so much could be so tourcherous. I shot a 50 on the front (3 hrs) 9. Then shot a 45 on the back, trying to hurry to get 9 in before dar k. Like I said rough day at the course.....

Lowest 9 hole score = 37 on a par 35

Played 18 yesterday for the first time in a month. Shot a 88. Putting will become more a part of my practicing.....

Finding balance between - 8 hrs. a day Monday-Friday at my job, going to the gym, commitments with church, spending time with my wife, work around the house, practicing and playing golf, and trying to rest somewhere in all this.......

I keep mine open. It helps me to see the impact and keep me from jerking my head up too quickly. Sometimes I'll practice keeping my head looking down until about 3- 5 seconds after I hit.

It's been 3 weeks since I've swung a club. I got a cold, then got better (so I thought), then got sick again. Played 9 this morning and shot a 45 on a par 36. Had some bad breaks and definitley need to start getting the progress going. I'll be out tomorrow practicing around the green short game and putting.

This sounds like a good idea for an experiment; compare scores between walking 18 and riding. As far as walking, I realize some people would have difficultly having to carry their bag so that wouldn't be figured in, unless a person wants to try. Basically the experiment would be at least 2 rounds of 18; 1 walking and 1 riding, if you wanted to take it a step further, 1 riding, 1 walking with a push cart, and 1 walking while carrying your bag. I might have to try this. The last time I walked (with push cart) I played 9 at my home course (9holes only) and shot 2 over. I went to another course (9holes only) the next day, walked 9 (with push cart) and shot 4 over.

Newsflash - Golf should not be performed between the ears - Discuss

I look forward to getting there. I have to have less than 7 (USGA) to play in our local state am tournament. Back in February of this year I had a HC of 24, and as you can see I've been taking strokes off. I think my lowest HC was a 15, but I was probably 15 when I had that and of course I quit playing for about 20 years. -

Is your HC really a -7.3 ? Is that USGA or another? -
I can understand his comments (which might be scary) and I'm sure we've all had rounds where the outcome of our shots just didn't to what we wanted. I know it happened the last time I played - I wanted a kick left and the ball went right; I wanted a release and it checked up; I wanted it to check up and it released....I think Daly is better at his consistency.

I like him. I'd love to play his course "The Lions Den" in Dardenelle, AR.
