  1. Oh and if it's a chip or putt you can bet your bottom dollar that I'll take my time and take a few practice swings.
  2. If the last club I hit is a driver, and I'm looking at an 8 iron for the green, then I have to let my body adjust to the new club and swing. If I didn't take a half-practice-swing I'd be swinging my irons like they were drivers and skulling the ball down the fairway.
  3. Got a good laugh out of this one lol
  4. Is it bad etiquette to have a girl watching from the cart? Sometimes the marshal will pair us with other golfers. My girlfriend is always friendly to marshals and other golfers but I am worried that it is considered "rude" or otherwise makes other golfers feel uncomfortable. Thoughts?
  5. Major respect to this guy, think what he is doing is awesome. Would love to see him beat the odds and succeed. What a story!! Good for months worth of coverage. TGC is creaming themselves hoping to see this guy on the web.com....
  6. Creases in my FJ's show their character. After practice or a round I usually just clean them alongside my clubs. I use water with a bit of dish soap and a tooth brush for the shoes after I'm done with my clubs. Then I put the shoes in the open to dry and return my girlfriend's toothbrush to the bathroom.
  7. With all due respect, I bet watching Hunter Mahan on the tour is really strange for you.
  8. Yellow balls leave a more apparent mark on the top of my driver after I whiff. That's the only difference I can really tell. Besides the fact that they're weird, like playing baseball with an orange ball or hockey with a green puck.
  9. I'd like to know what type of keyboard you're using as well.
  10. I should add, k troop, that I'm jealous of your "word a second" typing rate. Maybe that's why I don't often make careless mistakes... I'm a really slow typer. LOL
  11. You're right k-troop. But like a golf swing, I never do something without thinking it through clearly (though you can't tell from my handicap). I rarely think "you're" but type "your". Different strokes, different folks. I should add that with regards to the title of this thread, "grammar" is a noun while "grammatical" is an adjective. Thus, the phrase "grammatical errors," rather than "grammar errors," is actually correct.
  12. Back this up 100%. There are people in this thread that can't seem to sort of the differences. Maybe we can help them: They're/there/their: There is no way you'll reach the green with an eight iron. Their balls all landed within 10 yards of each other. They're going to play through. Too/to: Don't drive too far or you'll end up in the sand. Instead, drive it to the 150 stick. Its/It's It's about time you won a hole. (contraction) The main advantage of my putter is its grip. (possessive) Now, I have a marine biology degree, which is a far stretch from an English degree. But you must master the language or no one will read a word you write. I imagine the same applies to business and other fields. I certainly apply this rule to any forum post that I read.
  13. My favorite is people saying "to" when they mean "too".
  14. I played hockey. That is a common problem with hockey players, you're right. We do not look at the puck hardly ever, unless for just a split second before a shot. However taking a "divot" on ice will not result in a duffed shot (or putt, God forbid). It will just result in more flex on the shaft and therefore a more powerful shot.
  15. Will try this out at the practice green, thanks.
  16. Neat. Played Oso Beach a few days ago. Just got back from hitting balls at Lozano. Where do you usually play?
  17. Just joined, have been reading these best shot posts. Very enjoyable. Of the month, it came at Quail Creek in Kyle, TX. On a par 4, I overdrove the fairway and found myself nestled on top of tall bermuda about 95 yards from the pin. I took out a 60* vokey and made a few practice swings assuring I wouldn't go under (there were at least 3 inches of grass below my ball). Took my swing, hit the front of the green and rolled to within 6" of the pin. I fist pumped and the girlfriend smirked. Two days ago I hit the flagstick with a 52* approach on a par 4 (18th at that). Tapped it in for birdie. First time playing with the group I was with. Think I left a good impression!!
