the poll is not clear enough to me... is the question - 'what you'd LIKE to do?' or 'what are you doing now?'. First - is walk with caddie. The latter - cart riding or walk/carry...

yea, I'm not buying it either. In the last 4 years I never scored over 100 and I played some tough courses and back tees - and I don't even come CLOSE to thinking I'm good enough to try to qualify for the Q-school. If injury was really the case - I'd think a WD would be the natural sequence... On the other hand - even if I had severe shank-attack during the first round and score 100+ - geez, I'd FAKE a injury just to get out of there ( note to readers: rafcin just violated first rule of golf " never say 'I never...'". expect him creating a post soon about his 105 scored during the next round he plays. )

does anybody have experience using UA cold gear stuff while playing golf? Winter is coming and I'm tired of getting cold on the links... wonder if the "skin-tight" stuff is not impeding full range of motions.

my personal favorite - David Duval. His whole attitude to life, the way he treats the media, going along with one of the prettiest swings on the tour - I sure hope he gets back into the top of the leaderboards soon...

great golfers.. maybe... but Sergio a role model ? hm... for me he's the typical young, loud, stupid bigmouth with helluva game to back it up. It could be admired, that's true - but please reconcider using him as a role model

always long pants... hate playing in shorts (even though I've been told I've sexy legs )... ok, maybe if it's 120F or raining hard I'll put on shorts. As far as shirt go - anything red, preferably short mock. I like Nike's stuff, good quality and one can find good deals here and there. Izod has the best color combo/designs IMHO and having their factory store near by there is always a chance to pick up a few mocks @ $10.00 sale

I can't tell I do... It's big money deal here in New Jersey (land is expensive), if a course has potential to attract golfers with the quality of grass - you can bet it will be expensive, semi- or even fully private in no-time. No land wasting here. But then of course - the BEST courses that are fully private are being played on by people who afford it, not people who appreciate the layout/quality or even CAN play. From that point of view - yeah, we're wasting a lot of golf courses

sounds like you need a solid dose of Rotella or Valiante . It's common to people to be a "range master" just to fail miserable on the course. IMHO the mental approach to every shot is the difference. At the range you have (usually) two simple thought processes - execute the swing properly and aim at (general) target. On the course you have "other" thoughts.. water left.. trees right.. wind.. elevation... lie.. ball above feet... ball below feet...don't hit short... don't hit long... don't snap-hook into houses left... don't slice into the road right... etc, etc, etc. First level is to incorporate "TARGET" back into your game on the course Trust me, it's easier said than done. Second level (unachivable for most of us) is to eliminate "mechanic" swing thoughts on the course, trusting the range-proven swing to take care of itself. Don't give up. How rewarding is a triumph if challange is not hard

is't only one stroke, right?

your opinion of 3-piece golf balls
Rafcin replied to ajgunn82's topic in Balls, Carts/Bags, Apparel, Gear, Etc.
I guess I'm repeating myself from prior posts, but IMHO the only thing that matters to me is how the ball feels on the putter blade. I honestly can't tell the difference off the driver, a bit more off the irons, but putter - I can separate 2 vs. 3 or 4-piece ball rather easy. As far as the other characteristics - distance, ball flight, side spin? can't really point out which ball is what... of course we're not talking about low-budget pinnacles or top-flights - you can hit them with a 2x4 and you'll feel the difference -
weak. they are pest and disease carries (and spreaders thanks to the poop-o-mania). it's like running over a rat on the highway. All I'd say is "oops... oh well".

that's a good one at my course we have tons of suicdal snakes and chipmonks. They seem to find a way to throw themself under oncoming golf carts... dead bodies everywhere of course we're have some jokesters too and some of the dead snakes end up in the carts... mostly member's wifes playing. It's always good for few screams and yells

canadian geese are nasty, filthy animals. it will taste nothing like the farm geese. Let it rot on the fairways to scare away other shit-machines. I hate them. In spring time there is more goose poop on my back yard than grass. I've a bucket full of rocks on my deck ready to defend my yard against the canadian air force !

If I remember correctly to enter qualifier for the Q-School all you need is $2000 (or was it $4000?) entry fee... unlike US Open where almost-scratch handicap is required.
-
are you saying David Duval should not be entering tournaments? He had a few 80's lately...

Welcome John, I envy you - 18... 3 hcp.. and live in Ireland. Life is good, huh?
-
if the "NJ" in your handle stands for New Jersey... I'm here too Indeed, it's expensive, but using weekdays + afternoons - one can get by. It's easier to explain to wife to spend $80 than $100...

IMHO having the full map vs. marking points (bunkers, trees, water, etc) doesn't have too much advantage... Most courses will give you layout of the holes or yardage book with pictures ( $2 - $5 ). I wasn't trying to compare anything by they way - I haven't used the Startcaddy, so I can't say nothing about it. I did use SkyCaddie and it was more than enough for me with maps free(99% of them) or almost free... but again - it is subjective I guess. again - I don't see much value in it and I personally wouldn't want to pay for it. It's enough to know "carry bunker", "front-middle-back green", "carry water", "end of fwy". Is it important to know that fairway gets tighter at 260yds away? I guess. Is it worth the money? I don't think so. I played over 100 rounds this year and at least 30 of them on new/relatively new courses where I could use the GPS. 30x20 = $600. That's pretty much a trend for me (my 4th case with logo balls from each club I played at is almost full ). $600 ? There is a new set of irons to be honest I never used Intelligolf as GPS device (except for measuring my shots). "Maps" with GPS coordinates are not too popular. Indeed - for stats keeping - I haven't find nothing better.

I'd disagree with the first part of this statement. There is a difference between a dumbass shot (which one can't pull off) and fantastic shot(which one most likely will execute). Example: dumbass : Mickleson @ US Open. Fantastic: Tiger - 5i out of fwy bunker over water to pin 215yds away couple years ago to seal the deal at a tournament, 5W from deep rough to put the ball on the green from 260 away or driver onto the fringe of 345yds par 4 last weekend, (fill in the blanks for the remaining 1210423092 examples ). What I'm trying to say - I haven't seen Tiger go for "fantastic" shot and fail. He knows himself, knows his game - he's just not going for "dumbass".
-
leave my buddy Duval alone, would you?
-
as long you're not competing with him - I'd not interfere. Play your own game and don't pay attention is my motto
-
it happend once to me - I was paired up with a "know-it-all" guy who didn't shut up and was yelling and screaming after every shot (which most of the time was shitty). After 2nd hole I told him, that he's a jerk and should know he's not alone on the course and I'm not intenting to put up with it. I picked up my bag and walked back in. Luckily the starter was nice enough to allow me to restart my round with the next possible opening. You could try to reason with "them", but sometimes you can see right away - you'd be talking to a wall
-
If you don't see why he did it - you haven't paid attention through the entire movie . Anyway - in this situation - I'd go for it. as Molly said in the movie few minutes later.. Erik, do you remember who won US Open 5 years ago(ok, YOU probably do, but 99% of fans don't!)? How about 10 years ago? I'm pretty sure every american golf fan remembers who has the scoring record at US Open
-
that means USGA didn't do good job I read somewhere that Warner Bros had USGA consultants hired to make a course somewhere in Houston look like 'US Open venue'. These were the same people who actually set up courses for the Open
