  1. My parents have a condo in Myrtle Beach and travel down there for 60% of the year. I have to agree with others about True Blue and Caledonia. Both are on the up and up with Caledonia being the nicer of the two. Litchfield is also an excellent course and TPC Myrtle Beach may be the best of the bunch. Also mentioned were Grand Dunes and Barefoot Landing. Excellent courses as well. Two other courses to consider would be Kings North at Myrtle Beach National as well as World Tour which has replicates of some of the most famous holes in the world. While they are not exact, it was interesting to play Amen Corner and the staff definitely presents an upscale experience that I believe the Founders Club failed to deliver. One other thing to mention would be that I was down there yesterday and played the Founders Club on its opening and was severely disappointing. The course was in excellent shape but was not an overly difficult track. The club promotes itself as upscale but in my opinion is not in the same class as the courses mentioned above.
  2. Welcome to the good side. I am a Microsoft programmer professionally but both of my personal computers are Macs (24" iMac and 15" Powerbook Pro). I wouldn't trade them for the world. Once you settle in you will be blown away with the simplicity. You just have to refrain from the "windows ways"! Good Luck!
  3. I've used a variety of different sets (mostly hand downs to start) but most recently I have owned Mizuno Tzoids, then KZG ZO Blades and now Ping i10. I was very skeptical about going to a cast club after having forged for so long, but once I hit them and went through Pings fitting process it wasn't much of a decision. Now, I admit they were no where near as soft as the Mizuno MP-57s but I've got no regrets! Great feel, great workability and great forgiveness with the near look of a player's club!
  4. I agree completely with this statement. Best driver I have ever hit as well. Plenty of opportunity to work the ball. Definitely recommend.
  5. I have not had a chance to play McCanless, sorry. As far as the Carolina Trail courses go... I am not a fan. Some of the courses are fairly nice but all of them are overpriced and slow. I've played each of them and while Birkdale is my favorite I don't believe it is worth the money. Olde Sycamore usually has deals throughout the year on memberships so again I would check that out especially if you are on eastern side of the city. Charlotte National is another great priced course with no ammenities but one of the most fun layouts. Eagle Chase is a hike but also another tucked away value gem. Clickit golf usually has great deals as well as golfholes.com and last minute golfer. I believe all provide maps and reviews so I would check those out if you are not familiar. HTH!
  6. I have to say that I love my r7 SuperQuad! I have hit many drivers over the past few years and I can't say that I have had half the confidence or control with all of them combined as I do with the r7 on an average day. Maybe that's just me but I can't see switching anytime soon.
  7. There are quite a few nice courses around here. Most of them are private, but after some time you'll find plenty of people that are members. As far as the public and semi-private, Olde Sycamore Golf Plantation and Rocky River are two reasonably priced well maintained courses. Skybrook is another excellent one but a little more on the pricey side. Emerald Lake is hit or miss. There is always Ballantyne... Like I said there are quite a bit and on top of that Myrtle Beach and Charleston, SC are only three hours away for excellent golf retreats. You are also only 2 hours from Pinehurst and Southern Pines!
  8. I tend to use my PW a lot for varing distances and shots. I think it affords me the greatest control over my shots from the rough, fairway and around the greens. I use my other wedges for specified distances and when I need to get the ball up in the air quickly.
  9. When I first started playing I used 10.5 but as I got accustomed to my swing I have switched to 9.5 Titleist 983K and now a 9.5 TaylorMade r7 SuperQuad and have no plans to change from 9.5.
  10. Hello everyone, I just wanted to introduce myself. I live in Charlotte, NC and love to play golf. I look forward to talking golf with everyone!
  11. I couldn't agree more!
