  1. This is exactly why I hate Tim Herron. Just look at this article http://www.golfonline.com/golfonline...089696,00.html A.) Ideal driver loft varies from player to player. B.) Some guys can't shave at night because their hair grows back too fast C.) There is a difference between good spin and bad spin. Higher handicappers tend to have bad spin that looks like this (>) or this (>>) they would probably be better off without a Pro V1. /tirade
  2. alcohol and cameras do not mix will... skip to (start at about the 45 second spot)
  3. Ya'll are being too hard on Gary Player. He has just gone senile. Whenever he talks you just have to nod your head and slowly walk away. I dislike Tim Herron. I hate hearing his stupid nickname, and he is so freaking boring. Maybe it is wrong for me to say this, and I'm sorry if it is, but I just don't trust people that go ice fishing (one of Herron's hobbies). I think there must be something else going on in that little hut and I don't appreciate being kept out of the loop. (or then again, maybe I do appreciate it... )
  4. That sounds interesting. Do you have any citation? I've never heard that before and would be interested in reading more about it.
  5. Dang! The weather is fine where I live, but even I'm jealous of you! Sounds like you married a winner!
  6. That is not true, unless Alabama has seceded from the Union again. I'm able to find Smarties at Walmart. As for Mars bars, I would not even know. Oh yeah, and marijuana may or may not improve your golf scores, but it is pointless to debate where the PGA tour should stand until it becomes legal in the US.
  7. The thing that I've always disliked about John Daley is his tendency to quit. If he knows that he won't make the cut then he will just walk off. It seems to me like it would do him some good to try to play out these bad rounds to see if he can turn things around. I'm so freakin sick of this thread, I can't believe I just added to it.
  8. Please tell me that you are making these up and that you have never actually used them before.
  9. That is beside the point. The fact of the matter is that we associate people with visual references. We do it in real life and we also do it on the internet. Sure we can read the user names, but by the time we are reading the user name we have already noticed the avatar because that is how the human brain absorbs what it sees on the webpages. The pictures are noticed first followed by the text. As for where I stand on this topic, I'm somewhat of a moderate. I feel like it is good to have some very basic standard avatars to choose from. However, I feel like Yoshi and the groundhog should not be available options. These avatars do not look like standard avatars, so it seems unique when there are actually many people that use them. Anyways, that is just my opinion. This is not a topic that I feel passionate about, but I am tired of the arguments about just being able to read the user name. That is like saying that phishing websites should never work because people should just look at the URL before they do anything on the site.
  10. Is that the joke, or just the punchline? I hope it isn't the whole joke because I totally don't get it.
  11. You are kidding right? http://www.pgatour.com/r/leaderboard/index.html
  12. Here is what you are looking for... http://thesandtrap.com/forum/misc.php?do=bbcode as for the image resizing... it doesn't look like that can be done. Perhaps a moderator can shed more light on that question.
  13. From the article: What is that asterisk for? I couldn't find the explanation anywhere.
  14. My favorite part of the game is seeing the ball drop into the hole. Since 99% of the time I'm holding my putter when this happens, I have to say that is my favorite. I definitely agree with the excitement of watching an approach shot flying right at the stick. However, you can't exactly do your happy dance when your shot comes to rest 10 feet from the hole because you still have an important putt coming up. A 2 putt from 10 feet counts the same as a 2 putt from 50 feet.
  15. I'm reluctant to help you out, but here's to hoping you start adding some value to the forums instead of empty posts.
  16. A classic: my favorite:
  17. That's a good one. I've never heard that before. I like giving my clubs nicknames. My favorite: "Time to pull out Mr. Happy" (my 3-wood)
  18. GET IN THE HOOOLLL-@!#!@**strangles self**
  19. I absolutely join you in this feeling. In my opinion, there is nothing quite like driving to the golf course in the dark and walking down the first fairway before the sun is all the way up. It is like you can see the course waking up before your eyes. It is weird, but it becomes more than just a field with a little hole at the end. I struggle to get to work by 9 everyday, but you make me a tee-time for 6AM and I'm there with bells on by 5:20.
  20. I'm not sure exactly what you are asking, but I'm assuming that you are asking if people typically hit off of a tee on short par 3s or if they just hit off of the grass (but always within the tee box). There are varying opinions about whether or not you should use a tee when hitting an iron. Some pros will say that you should always use a tee as it is intended to be an advantage. Personally, I usually just give myself a good lie on the grass as this most closely mimics the conditions that I use to practice. Please restate your question if this is not the answer you were looking for.
  21. I certainly don't have a single-digit handicap, but I find that when I lose confidence in a club (or group of clubs) it helps me to just go pound away with it at the range. I will think about my fundamentals some, just to make sure everything is there. Then I will just hit ball after ball, usually for an hour or more. It is not a whole lot of fun, but by the end I'm usually hitting the ball much better than I was when I started. Then next time I'm out on the course, I just feel so much more comfortable with the club. I don't know, this may not be the best advice for you. That is just what I normally do.
  22. I might be the only one, but I feel like playing Tiger Woods on the xbox actually helps me to understand the game. I feel like it taught me alot about course management (when to chip instead of pitch, etc) and good mindsets for putting. Obviously, playing a video game will never really teach you how to play the game. It can just offer some insight. Even now, when I'm having a hard time reading a green, I will pretend there is a grid on it with little dots flowing downhill.
  23. Just out of curiousity, do you get the jitters when you are 160+ yards out in the fairway of a par 4?
  24. UPDATE: It appears that other members of the golf community are concerned about Tiger's well-being. It looks like some strings were pulled to get him a new job. His eyes have lost their glimmer. This poor man looks like he is dying inside.
  25. I think sometimes people have so much promise that the expectations are just too high. It is always so disappointing when they never take their game to the next level. The worst part is how this is going to affect his wife and child...
