  2. A and D, I think when I started playing last year I saw the srixon q star commercials with peter jacobsen and they worked... I do like yellow balls though for visibility.. they seem to me the best cheapest and most widely available yellow balls.. plus about every time I need more I get some kind of package that's 2 dozen plus a hat, a towel + something else usually for under $40 as some sort of promotion LOL. other than that I'll play any high visibility yellow ball on sale..
  3. i'll look at the club when I pull it out of the bag, if its got crap in the grooves i'll wire brush it. I guess I'm backwards, probably should just wipe off any grass/sand/dirt before putting them back in the bag. probably because as a ~30 index i'm still jazzed about hitting a good shot, or irritated by the ganked shot.. clean the club now? aint got time for dat! :)
  4. I will tell any little weirdo insect crawling on my ball he better get off quickly or he's going for a ride. some have not heeded the warning. :(
  5. honest question. I don't have an official index, I haven't joined a club or started submitting scores yet.. I just threw a bunch of my scores into one of the online calculators to give me an idea what it would be if I was doing it officially.. but when I joined the forum here, I did put it in my profile, so you all would roughly know what level of player I am.. should I remove it?
  6. I've only been playing a little over a year, no lessons other than from a friend, almost breaking 100.. most of the people I end up playing with are equal or worse at a crowded public course question: 4 of us on green between 10-20 feet. guy away putts, gets within 3 feet.. he can elect to finish, right? otherwise he's gonna be marking, someone else probably gonna end up within 3-4 feet, you end up with 4 guys within 3 feet :) or do you only get to "finish" if it's within tap in range, or do you need permission from the guy away? the way we seem to always do it, is if you get up there close enough and aren't gonna be standing on someone's line, you finish then go grab the flag and wait while everyone else 3 putts :)
  7. that's what I figured.. "sorta, but not quite". :) I shall endeavour to get under 100 Monday on full 18 then !!!
  8. simple question, if my best score ever is 47 on 9 holes, my best 18 is probably 110, have I "broken 100"? (don't get to play a lot of 18 hole rounds is why I ask)
  9. 47 9 holes (~3000 yds???) 15 putts ( i'm quite happy)
  10. I've never played as a single, only because I cannot physically see a golf ball farther than about 175 yds under ideal conditions.
  11. thanks.. makes sense.. i was suspecting i should probably just get a 56. it's a new toy anyway, right? :)
  12. alright, I've been playing since may, shooting 110 or so.. I was fitted with this set of taylormade burner plus irons when I started.. which are 4-9, PW, AW(GW?). What degree loft is the AW? taylormade's site doesn't have any info, but from what I can gather, it's probably 50 or 52? Would I benefit from getting some higher lofted wedge? (I only recently started experimenting with opening the face of the AW for more loft for little flops and such with mediocre results.. full swing with it is right at 100 yds) my main playing partner/teacher insists "you need a sand wedge!" -- but her equipment is 10+ yrs old, and I dont even think they sell "sand wedges" anymore do they? and if they do, what is the loft on one?
  13. considering they're both, contrived "reality" shows.. I'd rather watch women than men. big break academy with mike breed was the only way i knew anything about BB grenbrier :) also, every girl on that show can kick my arse at golf, so I cant say they stink at the game. also, BB Atlantis was the bb that happened to be showing when I first picked up a club last year!
  14. i first picked up a golf club approximately 7 months ago.. after 2 months, I had this in my LEFT side. I could not swing a club, i could barely even go to work, so had to quit golf completely. just dealt with it.. it took at least about 2 months to heal, I think.. been fine since then, and for the last couple months, i've been really practicing alot.. like at least 100 balls a day, 5 days a week, occasionally 300 balls in a day.. NO PROBLEMS.. I do stretches beforehand, but apparently not enough. Until last week.. I was really "trying" to rip some iron shots on the range.. and i felt a twinge.. RIGHT SIDE this time.. I immediately recognized what I had done... (i got angry at myself, "NOT THIS AGAIN!") been off for a week, doing ibuprofen and actually just laying in bed after work each day pretty much.. same symptoms.. any sudden movement, rolling over in bed, breathing (not too bad), sneezing (owww) On the other hand, my left side is fine! so there's that.. I'm hoping maybe after right side heals I'll be all stronger and whatnot and wont get hurt anymore.. really sucks to get bit with golf bug late in life (i'm 37), and start out by hurting myself twice in 7 months. :( :(
