  1. I've had this one for two years and have never looked back. It checks all the boxes.
  2. Okay. Got my Hilton Head courses lined up for Thanksgiving week. Harbor Town Atlantic Dunes Oyster Reef Old South Golf Links. Haven't been to HH so does this look like a good group of courses?
  3. This summer our club has been closed to re-do the greens etc. So my normal group and I have been traveling to different courses in the area to play. We have played some private and some public courses. One course in particular that I used to play a lot (Public) we played this week-end and couldn't believe how bad the conditions were. This place used to be one of the best around (maybe 3-4 years ago). We have had a few courses close in the past two years which is strange considering the "golf boom" that the pandemic created. Is this just a local occurrence (central Florida) or is anyone else seeing this?
  4. I am about the same as last season and expect to be about the same next season. I don't have enough time to practice from August through April so my game will regress until school ends. Then I play more and get better. I wish I was one of those guys who doesn't need to play much to keep the same scores but mine usually go up by about 5-6 shots when I only play once a week.
  5. Well I think after his win this past week-end, Max and Red Bull have pretty much sewn up the championships. I guess their will be some intrigue for the second place finish in the manufacturers title. Maybe Mercedes will get past Ferrari?
  6. Not sure if I'm right about this but the weight can fluctuate between a few grams? I have a Smoke shaft that is 62 g (60g on label)?
  7. The Smoke shaft is a different flex (6.0 is stiff I believe) than the shaft you have in your driver now. It's also heavier (60 g as opposed to what I'm assuming the "56" means in your present shaft). 3.5'? I am assuming that's where it's tipped? It's going to feel very different from the present shaft.
  8. I am by no means an expert but I did stay at the Holiday Inn last night and I believe that the shafts in any golf club (wood or iron) are absolutely the "engine" that makes that club go. This is only based on my personal experience. I recently popped a new shaft in my driver and literally gained more distance and accuracy. And another thing I have learned when it comes to shafts, you get what you pay for.
  9. Not sure if this fits the topic but, since I've gone back to school (work) I've gone back to the week-day afternoon 9 hole round once a week. Normally it's almost always playing by myself but I have to say that it is has become very therapeutic. I won't bore you all with the absolute mess that the educational system is right now so it's really nice to "decompress" walking 9 holes in the evening.
  10. Charles is starting to look like he's not the driver that I thought he was going to be. At the beginning of the year, it looked like it was going to be a dog fight between Red bull and Ferrari. Red Bull has just pulled away and Charles can't go two races without driving his car off the track. Doesn't seem like Ferrari is very well organized? Lots of head scratching moves during the race.
  11. I do know one thing, there are a large group of kids leaving high school who are not going to succeed at college. They are making through high school because of the COVID pandemic making their grades for two years mean nothing. They are not only going to come out in major debt, they are not equipped to be successful.
  12. HV3 is leaving? Wow. I wonder if Michael Jordan is okay with that? I think I would have gotten his okay first. 😃 Oh...and as stated earlier, don't the door hit you in ass on the way out.
  13. He has designed some really great golf courses. I always liked hearing him when he worked for CBS. Especially at the Masters. I would think he will get into Hall of Fame. Oh and by the way...he was a Buckeye! 😃
  14. In my short time as an F1 fan, I would have to say that Max's performance on Sunday was the most impressive I've ever seen. P14 to first in a relativity short amount of time and then cruise to P1. Looks like 2022 is going to be the year of Red Bull.
  15. My wife is golf nut also. As a matter of fact, she decided that for our 25th anniversary, she wanted to go on a golf trip to Palm Springs CA. She then decided that we should go up to Sea Pines for Thanksgiving. I literally didn't have anything to do with it. When I met her, she had never played but it didn't take long for her to figure it out. That being said, she was/is an athlete and played many other sports so she picked up the game pretty quick. She now routinely shoots in the low 80's.
  16. Hey look on the brightside, Tiger will be able to play in it. No walking, one round, hit and giggle golf. Nike must be thrilled!
  17. After doing extensive ball research for the past couple of years, I have found that I use three different balls. The best ball for me is the Titleist AVX. However, I don't like the price tag. So I will switch back and forth between the Snell MTB and the Maxfli Tour when I see a good deal on them.
  18. New Driver shaft. Ventus Blue.
  19. 4 and 5 iron are JPX. They are easier to hit (for me). I have 4-G in the 221's but just replaced the 4 and 5 irons. All are 1/2 degree flat.
  20. I would have to go with "I'm alright" from Caddyshack. Does that count as a "theme song"?
  21. Slow play without a doubt.
  22. Yesterday the wife and I played at a private course in the Sarasota area. We were behind a threesome who was not very good at golf and would hit multiple balls on every hole. We literally were sitting on the tee and waiting for these guys for the first three holes (while they were still teeing off). I assumed they would let us play through, they didn't. Finally on the forth hole I drove around them and we played the remainder of the 18 holes in about 2 1/2 hours (no groups in front of these guys). When we finished on 18, they were playing number 10. As some of the previous posters have mentioned, I think they just didn't know golf etiquette. They parked carts next to the greens, played multiple balls on the first three holes, and obviously wouldn't allow us to play through. We were told when we came into the clubhouse afterwards (to get a beer), that they stopped at the turn and ate something (which usually means you have lost your place in line on 10). I have seen various cases of this the past couple of years so I would have to answer the topic question with a resounding "YES".
  23. Being able to walk the golf course was probably the main reason my wife and I joined a private club years ago. There weren't many options in our area to walk unless you were a member at a private club. We usually only walk about half the year (the other half being the hotter months in Florida), but I would rather walk if I can. For some reason (and I have tried to figure out why), I play better when I walk.
  24. I have a mixed set of Mizuno's. Some JPX Hot metal pros and some forged 221's. I'm always surprised more guys don't go this route.
  25. I actually joined a LIV group on Facebook about a week ago and was amazed at all the negative statements that are being made on that site. What is also amazing is how stupid some of the comments are. It almost looked to me like it was a group of people hired to bash the PGA tour. There was literally nothing posted about any of their players or any news from their tour. Just one post after another talking about how bad the leaderboards looked and "who are these guys?" comments. Nothing but hate for the PGA. One post was fake news from some site saying the Cameron Young was the next to join. I actually replied to that one and pointed out his father is PGA of America...never saw another post after that. 🤣
