37-40 77 (+6) 2 birdies, 1 double.

I just put the clubs and my push cart in the back of the bed and have never had any problems with the clubs getting damaged. In fact, it was a bigger issue with a trunk because I had to remove all the woods from the bag, just to fit it inside.

Shot 74, being my lowest round in 4 years. Finally made some putts on the shots that I hit close. 4 5 2 6 4 3 5 3 3-35 4 5 4 4 4 5 5 4 4-39---74 30 putts, 7 bogies, 4 birdies

My goals for 2018: Get my index to around 6. Playing to around 9 as of now. To accomplish this, I want to lower my putts per round. Plan on buying an indoor practice green in the near future. Going hand in hand with the lower putts per 18 is to really work on my wedge game, so I have closer putts to begin with. I recently purchased wedges in 50, 54 and 58 degree, to go along with my 46 degree pitching wedge. I'm hoping that with even gaps between all my wedges, I will build more consistency. I am also trying to play 80 rounds this year. I am currently at 15 rounds and with the North East weather this year, that is a pretty good start.

Thank you, They look nice.

Hello, I did a search on the forum but all the threads seemed a little old on this topic. I know there have been debates on in-door putting greens and I'm struggling a little with making a purchase. I am looking at Big Moss and Star Pro mostly. This will be a permanent fixture in my garage, so I'm not worried about being able to easily store it away. I have about a 12x12 space to dedicate to the green. Was hoping for anybody that owns or has experience with them. I see a lot of reviews on the Big Moss greens but not so much on the Star Pro. Big Moss is offering 15% off for Masters week but that isn't too big a deal if the Star Pro is the better green. Thanks for any help with this.

I have often played in scrambles where im the worst player. If you get 3-4 good players and they are long, the par 5's are easily had. 4 putts at an eagle, 4-5 times for the round and low numbers can be had. That said the lowest we ever came in at was -16 I believe. As good as it can be, usually you might miss a par 3 or par 4 in regulation and make a par. I would question anything under -18 for sure.

Im a little worried about the sandbagger tag this weekend. I'm the furtherest thing from it BUT the handicaps turned on in April. So like the others, I only have a handful of scores in for this season. I'm basically playing off last years handicap. If I post a low round, some will probably be thinking that I am one. Oh, this weekend is a qualifier.

I would have to say Phil Mickelson. I like his go for broke attitude and interaction with fans. My family, like the OP's is from Western PA and im just too young to have seen Arnie in his prime. Phil, at least to me, seems like the Arnie of this generation. He just does it his way.

Last (Golf) Thing You Bought?
MJK3122 replied to JYB's topic in Balls, Carts/Bags, Apparel, Gear, Etc.
Bought a US Kids golf set and pink hello kitty balls for my daughter. It's for her 3rd birthday so i'm just hoping she likes golf as much as her dad. -
Can't do the watch or ring thing during any sporting activity. Too restrictive for me.

It's bad form in my eyes. Would Rory WD if he was leading? A couple shots back? I think not. You also don't tell reporters you are fine only to release a statement or tweet saying that you have serious pain (tooth, ankle, arm, ect.) a short while later. He hasn't played anywhere near his normal form this year and I was one that thought this may happen with the total switch to the Nike equipment. Even the best players have favorite clubs that they play for a while before even thinking of switching them out for newer ones. For a player of Rory's caliber all the way down to the weekend warrior hoping to break 100, it's hard to switch 14 clubs and your golf ball up in one shot and just expect to play as if nothing has changed. Rory is a great talent and will rebound probably very quickly but this antic IMO has put a blemish on his resume. He only had to play out 10 holes and he could have went home anyway. Like somebody else already stated about Camilo. I'm sure he wanted off the course as well but stuck it out like a gentleman.

What's your course style? (poll)
MJK3122 replied to Jasonbolt's topic in Balls, Carts/Bags, Apparel, Gear, Etc.
I don't have "outfits" that specifically go together. I mix and match for the most part. I have a lot of polo's (around 50) and about (15 pants). I just have certain style things that I abide to. Never wear black shoes with shorts, never tuck shirt in without wearing a belt, always tuck shirt in, belt has to match shoes, ect. -
If you hit the range before your round, hit the last 3-5 shots with the club that you plan on using on the 1st hole. If I can't hit the range, the 1st tee shot is just a controlled relaxed swing to get into the groove. Making 6 on the first because your not warmed up is a tough way to start.

When do you replace the ball
MJK3122 replied to achadha7's topic in Balls, Carts/Bags, Apparel, Gear, Etc.
I don't cycle balls during the round like some have stated. If the ball is playing well, I can deal with a couple scuff marks. Usually a tree or cart path hit, that I believe will clearly change my balls true flight gets thrown to the bottom of the bag until the rounds over. I then use it for practice or disgard it. -
Clicgear 3.0 PushCart
MJK3122 replied to garvelink5's topic in Balls, Carts/Bags, Apparel, Gear, Etc.
After much research I have ordered the Clicgear 3.0 golf cart. I have seen that there are countless accessories that you can buy for this model cart. For any of you that own or have owned this golf cart, are there any of these accessories that have helped you out or are worth the extra money? Thanks in advance. -

84 on par 71. It was a nice day but windy (20-30 MPH). Shot 45 on the front 9 that I wish I could blame on wind conditions but most were forced errors. Shot 39 on the back 9 dispite limping into the clubhouse with 3 straight bogeys. Frustrating day but good to get out there.

To get them into "match" mode have them play mini matches in practice. We always were paired up together in practice and played team games or straight up for little prizes (bottles of gatorade, sleeve of balls, ect) to the winners. It kept it interesting and always kept you in compete mode. You also learn you teammates games and how they deal with pressure. This helped a lot, so if your playing partner in a team match was struggling you could help them out with pointing out there strengths. Just keep it light and help out in the areas that you can. Also scout your home course with your better players. Teach them where to miss it and have them take putts from different spots on all the greens. "Home field" is a huge plus in high school golf because your opponents may have little to no experience on your course.

We obviously have some different opinions but I have enjoyed the debate.

Ok, thank you for the clarification. Makes sense now.

Well no argument that tiger reached a bigger audience. With social media, bigger tv coverage and the always big push on endorsements, how couldn't he. Arnold has 62 tour wins that include 7 majors. To say he is known more for his looks is a little insulting. It like saying in 40 years Tiger will be known for his temper tantrums, messy divorce and blaming his coaches for bad tournament results. I don't believe that to be the case. I guess I never answered the original question, Jack or Tiger. IMO it's very hard to compare athletes of different generations. If you go off the "championships define greatness" then it Jack. If tiger breaks that record then you give it to him I guess. I would argue that Jacks playing competitors were superior to Tigers. Tiger can hit shots that Jack probably never even thought about. Is that bc of superior technology in equipment and ball making? We will probably never know. Give me Jack, for now.

I would argue that Mr. Palmer has done more for the game than Tiger ever will. Palmer was the first man to make golf "cool". Palmer also made it a big deal that others noticed as he was Sports Illustrateds "Sportman of the year" in 1960. Arnie also saved the Champions (Sr PGA at the time) in 1980 and is the cofounder of the Golf Channel. Tiger has picked up what Arnold started no doubt. Tiger made golf cool for this generation and carried the torch well. The purses are bigger because of Tiger as well but that's also the story for every sport. Some people have said the players of today owe Tiger a lot of gratitude. I say Tiger owes Mr Palmer more.
