  1. I've never had a caddy, but even 10 years ago, when I was a 1 handicapp, I'm pretty sure Tiger would obliterate me; even carrying his own clubs.
  2. If you average 280 off the tee, you probably hit a 7 150ish? You'd be left with a 7 iron to the green... doesn't sound bad to me.
  3. Exactly! I think 75% of the fun for your average weekend hacker is showing off their new toys. ^_^ Nothing wrong with that if they've got the spare money. I agree it won't improve their game much.
  4. 5. Like Tiger says: sometimes it's important to 'get it out'. I snapped my lynx parallax 6 iron in half when I was a sophomore in highschool or so.
  6. I agree whole-heartedly. Like I mentioned in a previous post. My driver is a four-year old model, but I hit it farther, straighter and more consistantly than most people I play who have to own the newest sticks. For that matter: I hit the original big bertha driver (yep, still have it); that I used to play in junior high and high school (13 years ago or so). I hit it almost as well as the Taylor made! The only thing I've "upgraded" to new technology is my putter and wedges. I LOVE my Odyssey Black series i putter, and Nike SV Tour wedges.
  7. Wow... what irons/woods are you buying? I have a set of forged Tommy Armour irons I picked up from a rep for $125. They have rifle flighted shafts and feel as good as just about anything else I've ever hit. In addition to those, I've got an older Taylor Made 460 Burner that I picked up at Sams Club for $60, and a WAYYY old, taylor made (copper color even) 3-wood I bought for $30 from a buddy at work. Even after a ten year break from golf, I outdrive, and hit my irons longer than 99% of the people at our country club. Every pro (4) and low handicapper buddy who's hit my irons, loves them. I think I could 'restock' your bag with an awesome set for
  8. 5 iron here. If I happen to be striking the ball excellent, I could hit a hard 6.
  9. It was "jammed' paralell to the finger back toward my hand. I finally broke down and made an appointment with an orthopedist for Tuesday.
  10. I have a mental problem hitting callaway irons. When I look down at that fat top-line, I just can't hit the dang thing.
  11. I was really self-conscious about my ball-flight. I only see it when it's up in the air, not how if got there. So I took a lesson with my club pro and asked him how to fix it. He watched me hit a few, and said 'Why do you want to change that?' So I guess it's not a problem... Freddie Couples, my golf hero, has a high ball flight as well.
  12. I have no idea how my ball flight is as high as it is. I have an upright swing compared to some people, but make no conscious effort to add loft to the club. My 8 iron goes higher than a typical sand wedge, but I still hit it 150-160.
  13. I've never thought about grip until recently. I've played golf for almost 20 years (since I was 11 or 12), and shot in the low 70's in highschool. I took about 10 years off through undergrad and grad school, and just started playing again (hence my 10 handicap). In that 10yr period, I injured my right ring finger playing basketball. Now my finger kills for the first 20 swings or so; until it becomes numb. :) I find my right hand slipping off the club often, and I can't really grip with this finger -- any ideas?
  14. I play my short irons back in my stance because I have a very high natural ball flight. My dad, almost scratch golfer, on the other hand, plays everything but woods right in the middle. Even back in my stance, I hit a 7 iron higher than most people hit a sand wedge.
  15. I've gotta throw my 2cents in for Tommy Armour as well as Lynx. I've hit the forged Hogans, Titleists, Cobras, Nikes. The Silverscot Tour Blades are superior to them all (imho). I played Lynx parallax for most of my life, until I got the Tommy Armours, and I love them both.
  16. Love my OGIO EDGE...
  17. My 2 cents: The titleist Vokey wedges seem to get the best reviews. I've got a couple Nike SV Tour wedges and love them. The mizuno MP series wedges are nice as well. The titleist and mizunos feel better to me when you hit them well, but I hit the nikes much more consistently for some reason. I've never hit the clevelands, so can't comment on them.
  18. I'd love a set of Mizuno MP-67's and new burner woods. Would also love a set of forged nike or mizuno wedges. Already have my dream putter: odyssey black i-series #1
  19. QFT... Freddie is inspiring to watch.
