  1. Too funny! (And don't hate on the Wings.) Toodles, Straycat Location: Hockeytown
  2. First set I bought, Wilson Blue Ridge. Got them at K-mart, 3i, 5i, 7i, 9i. that was the entire set. they even had real leather grips. don't think I even paid $40 for them.
  3. If you can put that much JuJu on your shots from the mid iron range you may like the TP 5 better. They are also on sale as TM tries to empty the shelves and make room for the Lethal, at a much higher price.
  4. Taylor Made TP 3's right now at $22/doz at Golfsmith. If your handicap is like mine, you won't know the difference from a proV, you might even like it better.
  5. It was called Project 5 in its prototype phase.
  6. I agree 100%. "Don't worry about it, just play golf" Should be the signature line for most all of us.
  7. accuracy and consistency off the tee is built into any name brand driver, if you hit it accurately and consistently. WalkTheCourse is right, your money is better spent on lessons (or at least range time).
  8. I'm pretty much a play what I find kind of guy but I just recently did buy 2 dozen TP-3's. This past summer I found several TP-5's and 3's and really did like them. The 3's I liked a little better, especially inside 100 yards.
  9. Someone that "gets it" I love it.
  10. There's a very interesting interview with Dean Snell, Director of R&D; at TM, on the Penta TP3 and 5 and the rbz ball on the hackers paradise site. Its from early 2012 when the balls came out and he talks about the 3 balls, how they came into being, the market they are targeting with each and alot on just what these companies work on in developing new golfballs (the most interesting part). Very much worth listening to. Not all golfballs are created equal and, after listening to the interview, you might have one more clue as to why one ball fits you're game better than another.
  11. Typically, no. I do use a foot roller once in a while and it has helped a little. The ice bottle trick sounds like a good idea and I will try that, thanks. Straycat howling to the moonlight on a hot summer night
  12. The anchored swing of the belly putter is the greatest discovery of the modern era.
  13. Rarely barefoot but sometimes slippers. Not sure what triggers the pain, some days I'm pain free and others it feels like someone went to work on the bottoms of my feet with a heavy piece of re-bar. I did order the shoes, $70 at Rockbottom Golf. If they work, that's a pretty cheap fix.
  14. Thanks for the info. With what you've said and some stuff I read in the links that Erik posted, I'll order a pair and see what happens.
  15. dak, check your pm's.
  16. What's the arch support like in these shoes? I ask only because you mentioned orthotics. I have developed really bad feet over the last couple years and if there is no support in the arch area I'm in a world of pain in no time.
  17. If a person has never been taught/shown how to push the dirt/turf back into place I'm not sure how any different tool will help them learn to do that. I do agree that second place goes to the ones on the far right in the pics and the "copper" ones work great too. I will stay with my belief that the SC is the best tool out there, and I've used used them all. Guess we'll just disagree on this one. They seldom if ever "cause more damage". I remember a poster that used to hang in the pro shop of a course I played regularly in the late 70's early 80's. It was photos of divots that had been immediately repaired, repaired several hours later and not repaired at all. These divots were then photographed after a day, after several days and then after a week. Any attempt, no matter how amateurish, was better than no attempt at all. Bottom line, repair your divots, do your best, the greens will heal if given half a chance, they do struggle if given no chance.
  18. I have no idea what the designer intended, I just know that fixing divots with that tool is easier than with any tool I've ever used. Unless the ball tore a chunk of turf out of the green, which sometimes happens, a person would have a very hard time finding any repair job I've done. I am very concientious in how I leave the course behind me, usually fixing several ball marks in addition to my own. Interesting you mention pushing, thats the main motion I use and the strength of that tool makes it very easy.
  19. The best? The one that came with my scotty cameron putter. i don't know if they still come with the putters but i have seen them at golf shops sold separately. in my opinion there isn't even a close second to these.
  20. MacGregor Tourney's 2-pw MacGregor JNP's 1-pw Nike CCI forged 3-pw Taylormade R-9 TP's 3-pw that list goes back to the early 70's and I still have them all. Why, I'm not so sure.
  21. Thanks for the input, guess I just need to go hit some, just to see if they feel as good as they look.
  22. Don't know if I can still hit blades very well anymore. Played them from the mid/late 60's to the early 90's and managed to get into the low to mid 80's for scores. Back then blades was pretty much all there was, you learned to hit the ball. From what I've read, modern blades are more forgiving than the MacGregor Tourneys I carried back then, but for an old man like me, then was then and now is now and I know it. I'll stick with my R9 TP's that I'm very happy with, was wandering around the Golfsmith sight and those 712's are just so good looking I was just wondering how others felt about them. And, thanks for the link.
  23. opinion I meant. Damn these old fingers.
  24. Anyone play them? Anyone demo them? Just looking for some feedback. They have got to be the best looking club out there,in my opion anyway.
  25. Just bought a Titleist Ultra Light and am very happy with it. Sturdy construction and room for anything I'd carry. A minimalist bag with only two dividers but its super light and that's what I wanted.
