  1. 14 Drives. 22 Irons and 2 putt every hole is par on a 72 course. Now cut those putts by just 20% and.......well you can figure the rest out.
  2. I use to draw a line on the ball but I found it more distracting when making approach shots. It always seem to facing me in some odd manner, so I quit that. I still use the OE marker line on the ball while on the green. I think it helps me alot. Although I will admit as one mentioned earlier that after I line it up while down on the ball it looks completely different while in my putting stance. My gut says do something else, but for me I stick with what I lined up for while down on the ball and that seems to be correct more times than not. Good post.
  3. Now, if only it played as good as it looked. Had the white one. It sucked. IMHO.
  4. I know this is a very old thread but here go's. The D2 Feel is still a great ball. I normally play the Bridgestone B330S, but this ball is a close comparison for a whole lot less. Great feel off the driver and drop and stop on the greens for me even with a 5 iron. At about a $1 a piece you can fill your shag bag with these and then take it to the course with the exact same feel you were getting in the back yard. I love'm.
  5. I completely agree with this. I just think it's a shame to get on a monitor with good results and the golf course shows something completely different. I hope you enjoy your R1, it just wasn't for me.
  6. I must come back to this thread and say how bad I now hate the R1. Took my old driver out (Ben Hogan CS3) and was just drilling them down the center. Made a couple of adjustments on the R1 and nothing. It's like the face on that thing just died over just a couple of weeks. TaylorMade, you just ain't up to par of yesteryear. But I will say, your advos must be working cuz y'all got alot of people snookered. Did pick up a Ping K15 still in the wrapper. Now that's a good club. 3 year old technology, and it's still better than any "new" item I have hit to date.
  7. I picked up a TaylorMade R1 a couple months ago. Had a fitting with it and it seemed ok. Went to the course and I think maybe I hit 1 fairway with it in 2 rounds. Sold that!!! Started looking around again and came across a K15. The look at address was simple especially compared to the R1. The one I found was of course used cuz they don't make these anymore. Found one on eBay still in the wrapper. The K15 is 3 years old now and I swear I think the vast majority of companies are going in reverse with the technology!! This K15 is sweet. Nice feel and the ball just flies off the face. I hit a G15 that belonged to a buddy of mine some time back and the K15 hands down kills the G15 and for that matter the R1. The only thing I don't like about the K15 is if you really go after one it could just about go anywhere. A nice smooth swing and you will find it in the short grass. One more thought....Adjustable clubs are really for the birds IMHO.
  8. Man, I want some Steelfiber's. They are so smooth. The technology is incredible.
  9. I really don't even "see" the crown when lining up anymore. I'm looking at the ball ! ! ! There's alot I don't like about this club but it sure moves a ball. I saw where Golf Works is selling the hosel end for the shaft of this club, so I'm going shaft shopping soon. Can't really say much for the grip as well. I'm sure it will wear out quick. The head is incredible to say the least. Works as advetised.
  10. I think it's the intimidation factor. Have you ever seen a non-golfer pick up one of his buddies clubs in the backyard and try hitting a ball for the first time? That's a moment of truth for that person. They either find out they can't hit the ball at all or they make great contact and next thing you know they are out buying clubs and going to the range. Now, for that person that didn't make contact at all was intimidated by the game and ran from the thought of even playing. Other than that....cost.:~(
  11. Like I said, The media tried to make a big story out of Rory and Tiger....and now Rory has withdrew from the Honda Classic. Man, let these guys play and stop trying to force stories before they even swing the first stick!!
  12. I love how the media attempts to generate a story line with Tiger and Rory......and nothing comes of it....LOL
  13. I don't think Rory has a prayer with his new sticks. It's a shame too, cuz I really think he's "got it". An equipment change is tough, even on the pro's.
  14. Hit these at the shop last week. Man, the topline is THICK! I guess they had to have somewhere to put that polymer. Not enough feedback for me. Felt like I was hitting a marshmallow. They "look" nice though, just not for me.
  15. I carry a pool cue for putting. Works well.
  16. IMHO, get rid of the 4 wood. You don't need 4 clubs that go 200+ yards. Do you? There are only 3 or 4 par fours on the average course. Good luck with that 64* wedge.
  17. So,in the case of the adjustabilty in a Taylormade R1, does this essentially make an adjustable driver useless if you wanted to make changes?
  18. Innovative! And keep the flop shot!
  19. Bye Bye 3 Iron
  20. mchepp, I read your review. Very true to life on the aspects of this driver. I got one. I really like it. After hitting it several times, I really don't notice the graphics. If your looking at the graphics, your not looking at the ball. So one would assume that your not going to make good contact if your looking at the paint job. I didn't think I was going to like the Phenom shaft, but after some adjustments (and they work) the stock shaft is not too bad. Even with that said, I think I'm going shaft shopping this summer just to see whats out there. Compared to the R11s, I think the "racing stripes" make this club "not so bright". It kinda calms the "all white" look down a bit. With my 6 year old Ben Hogan I was getting about 245 to 255 out of it. With the R1, I am now seeing 275 to around 283 or 4 with good contact. I even saw a couple of 305 strikes!! I also tried out the new Callaway Extreme Fit with both shaft offerings. You got to be a gorilla to hit the Matrix Black Tie shaft. LOL. The Trinity shaft was a better fit for me but I still was only seeing about the same results as the Hogan so that one was out. I did really like that one before hitting it. Just to step down a bit, I tried the Ping G20 in stiff flex. That one for me only saw slight improvement at an average distance of 260. Next up was the Callaway X Hot, This one was about the same as the Hogan, so again, that one was out as well although it felt better than the Hogan. At the end of the day I did not go into the shop to specifically buy the R1. As a matter of fact I was really against that one from the start but after the results I got out this "ugly stick" I just couldn't deny the killer results it gave me after adjustments. If you don't like the looks of it.....well I can understand your concern on that.....just check it out and see where you would be in comparison to your current gamer. I think you'll be surprised.
  21. What is everyone's thoughts on the new Taylormade R1?
  22. I also have the i20`s and I also love them. They have the KBS Tour stiff. They hit great. I have never played better. With your swing speed and tech info and the fact you don't like graphite, I would look into the Aerotech Steelfiber shafts. They have all the benefits of graphite with the feel of steel. IMHO these are going to catch on big in the coming years.
  23. For me the Bridgstone 330`s are much softer with more feel around the green. The e series all suck IMHO. The Srixon`s to me tend to have the same feel as the e series Bridgestone`s do. All of them!
  24. Hey dsc123, Have you hit those new sticks yet?
  25. Don't get me wrong, I love all the new GPS models that are out, just didn't wanna spend the scratch for one. I ended up getting SkyGolf on my smartphone ($4.99) and when I stand on the box of a par 3 and all my fellow hackers stand there with me with their $300 GPS's there is VERY little to no difference on the yardage. Has been very accurate for me. Absolutely the best bang for the buck. Hands down!
